Material identification is a technology that can help to identify the type of target *** approaches depend on expensive instruments,complicated pre-treatments and professional *** is difficult to find a substantial yet effective material identification method to meet the daily use *** this paper,we introduce a Wi-Fi-signal based material identification approach by measuring the amplitude ratio and phase difference as the key features in the material classifier,which can significantly reduce the cost and guarantee a high level *** practical measurement of WiFi based material identification,these two features are commonly interrupted by the software/hardware noise of the channel state information(CSI).To eliminate the inherent noise of CSI,we design a denoising method based on the antenna array of the commercial off-the-shelf(COTS)Wi-Fi *** that,the amplitude ratios and phase differences can be more stably utilized to classify the *** implement our system and evaluate its ability to identify materials in indoor *** result shows that our system can identify 10 commonly seen liquids with an average accuracy of 98.8%.It can also identify similar liquids with an overall accuracy higher than 95%,such as various concentrations of salt water.

Existing asynchronous distributed optimization algorithms often use diminishing step-sizes that cause slow practical convergence, or fixed step-sizes that depend on an assumed upper bound of delays. Not only is such a delay bound hard to obtain in advance, but it is also large and therefore results in unnecessarily slow convergence. This paper develops asynchronous versions of two distributed algorithms, DGD and DGD-ATC, for solving consensus optimization problems over undirected networks. In contrast to alternatives, our algorithms can converge to the fixed point set of their synchronous counterparts using step-sizes that are independent of the delays. We establish convergence guarantees under both partial and total asynchrony. The practical performance of our algorithms is demonstrated by numerical experiments. © 2023, CC BY.

Designing tests to evaluate if a given autonomous system satisfies complex specifications is challenging due to the complexity of these systems. This work proposes a flow-based approach for reactive test synthesis from temporal logic specifications, enabling the synthesis of test environments consisting of static and reactive obstacles and dynamic test agents. The temporal logic specifications describe desired test behavior, including system requirements as well as a test objective that is not revealed to the system. The synthesized test strategy places restrictions on system actions in reaction to the system state. The tests are minimally restrictive and accomplish the test objective while ensuring realizability of the system’s objective without aiding it (semi-cooperative setting). Automata theory and flow networks are leveraged to formulate a mixed-integer linear program (MILP) to synthesize the test strategy. For a dynamic test agent, the agent strategy is synthesized for a GR(1) specification constructed from the solution of the MILP. If the specification is unrealizable by the dynamics of the test agent, a counterexample-guided approach is used to resolve the MILP until a strategy is found. This flow-based, reactive test synthesis is conducted offline and is agnostic to the system controller. Finally, the resulting test strategy is demonstrated in simulation and experimentally on a pair of quadrupedal robots for a variety of specifications. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

Most places in the world have seen rapid increases in the need for power. It is essential to look for alternatives and energy-saving technologies because traditional fossil fuel power plants emit pollution in addition to the electricity they produce. This work considers a multi-generational heating system with the hybrid Electric/Solar Water Heaters (ESWHs) to replace electric water heaters (EWH)by combining the ESWH with an Aluminum reflector. This work experimental discusses the performance of the ESWH and the influence of placing a reflector plate underneath the evacuated tubes in Baghdad-Iraq. A test procedure to heat the water to a specified heating temperature over the whole day period was conducted to analyze the daily power consumption profile of the system. Four operational scenarios have been conducted including the mode;the ESWH as a solar water heater, ESWH as an electric water heater, ESWH without a reflector, and ESWH with a reflector plate. The experimental analysis confirmed that the presented multi-generational heating configuration could contribute to energy sustainably. The developed multi-generational heating system achieved an improvement in annual energy consumption of 15.4% over the hybrid electric/solar water heater and 46.2% over the traditional electrical water heater. © 2023, The Authors. Evolution of agents’ dynamics of multiagent systems under consensus protocol in the face of jamming attacks is discussed, where centralized parties are able to influence the control signals of the agents. In this paper we focus on a game-theoretical approach of multiagent systems where the players have incomplete information on their opponents’ strength. We consider repeated games with both simultaneous and sequential player actions where players update their beliefs of each other over time. The effect of the players’ optimal strategies according to Bayesian Nash Equilibrium and Perfect Bayesian Equilibrium on agents’ consensus is examined. It is shown that an attacker with incomplete knowledge may fail to prevent consensus despite having sufficient resources to do so. © 2022, CC BY-NC-ND.

We address an optimal control problem for linear stochastic systems with unknown noise distributions and joint chance constraints using conformal prediction. Our approach involves designing a feedback controller to maintain an error system within a prediction region (PR). We define PRs as sublevel sets of a nonconformity score over error trajectories, enabling the handling of joint chance constraints. We propose two methods to design feedback control and PRs: one through direct optimization over error trajectory samples, and the other indirectly using the S-procedure with a disturbance ellipsoid obtained from data. By tightening constraints with PRs, we solve a relaxed problem to synthesize a feedback policy. Our method ensures reliable probabilistic guarantees based on marginal coverage, independent of data size. © 2024, CC BY.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects language, communication, cognitive, and social skills. Early detection of ASD in children is crucial for effective intervention, and machine learning techniques have emerged as promising tools to improve the accuracy and efficiency of detection. This paper presents a range of Machine Learning approaches that have been applied to identify individuals with ASD, with a particular focus on children, using images as input data. The results of these studies demonstrate the potential for Machine Learning to aid in the early detection and diagnosis of ASD in children, which can lead to better outcomes for individuals with this condition. © 2022 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

Hybrid-electric, unconventional aircraft solutions can possibly be the solutions for the ambitious emission reduction targets set by regulators, based on society's demands. One such disruptive solution is a morphing wing cargo UAV, with distributed propulsion. This paper investigates the aerodynamics, flight dynamics and control of a scaled down technology demonstrator UAV, built to validate the feasibility of the morphing wing concept. Several types of analyses are run to gain knowledge on the performance, stability and control properties of the aircraft. The flight mechanical effects of the distributed propulsion system are taken into account based on the integral momentum theorem. The increased flow speed behind propellers increases the local lift forces. Therefore, the distributed propulsion can be used to control the roll, pitch and yaw motion of the morphing wing aircraft. The nonlinear 6 degrees of freedom, distributed propulsion aircraft model is constructed utilizing the stability and control derivatives obtained from the aerodynamic analysis. Grid and Tensor Product (TP) type linear parameter-varying (LPV) models of the morphing wing aircraft are generated via Jacobian linearization and TP model transformation. The LPV models capture the parameter varying dynamics arising from the airspeed, morphing wing and payload weight variations. Gain scheduled lateral and longitudinal baseline controllers are synthesized using the grid-based LPV model of the aircraft. © 2020 IEEE.
