The article discusses the issue of creating a dynamic system for managing and monitoring the quality of ore flow in mineral resource complexes using simulation modeling. The purpose of this study is to adapt the mathematical apparatus of Petri nets to such modeling. The article describes the choice and justification of the simulation modeling apparatus and provides a conceptual representation of the ore flow model in the form of an adaptation of a continuous Petri net. An architectural solution is proposed that covers a number of processes, such as geological exploration, mining, moving loads in the business processes of enterprises, but also to support the rock mass. The proposed architecture is being coordinated with information systems and software and hardware of mining enterprises, which makes it possible to identify data needs for the formation of technical specifications for the correction of business processes. The proposed control system will make it possible to implement simulation modeling both in model and real time for timely and adequate assessment of the progress of work being carried out and clarifying the reasons for the lag behind planned schedules using a Petri net.

In this paper, a route selection algorithm is proposed for aerial and ground vehicle cooperative control. The main goal is to determine a feasible trajectory for a drone, which satisfies several limitations. Moreover, during the route selection, the flight time is also minimized to increase the efficiency of the entire system. The route selection is performed by a graph-based method, which is evaluated for different initial conditions. Then, the proposed algorithm determines the trajectories for the drone, and the predefined limitations are also considered. The method is validated in a MATLAB-based simulation environment, in which the whole algorithm is implemented.

One RING to Rule Them All: Radon Sinogram for Place Recognition, Orientation and Translation Estimation

LiDAR-based global localization is a fundamental problem for mobile robots. It consists of two stages, place recognition and pose estimation, which yields the current orientation and translation, using only the current scan as query and a database of map scans. Inspired by the definition of a recognized place, we consider that a good global localization solution should keep the pose estimation accuracy with a lower place density. Following this idea, we propose a novel framework towards sparse place-based global localization, which utilizes a unified and learning-free representation, Radon sinogram (RING), for all sub-tasks. Based on the theoretical derivation, a translation invariant descriptor and an orientation invariant metric are proposed for place recognition, achieving certifiable robustness against arbitrary orientation and large translation between query and map scan. In addition, we also utilize the property of RING to propose a global convergent solver for both orientation and translation estimation, arriving at global localization. Evaluation of the proposed RING based framework validates the feasibility and demonstrates a superior performance even under a lower place density. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. In realistic distributed optimization scenarios, individual nodes possess only partial information and communicate over bandwidth constrained channels. For this reason, the development of efficient distributed algorithms is essential. In our paper we addresses the challenge of unconstrained distributed optimization. In our scenario each node’s local function exhibits strong convexity with Lipschitz continuous gradients. The exchange of information between nodes occurs through 3-bit bandwidth-limited channels (i.e., nodes exchange messages represented by a only 3 -bits). Our proposed algorithm respects the network’s bandwidth constraints by leveraging zoom-in and zoom-out operations to adjust quantizer parameters dynamically. We show that during our algorithm’s operation nodes are able to converge to the exact optimal solution. Furthermore, we show that our algorithm achieves a linear convergence rate to the optimal solution. We conclude the paper with simulations that highlight our algorithm’s unique characteristics.

The paper considers continuous-time networked susceptible-infected-susceptible (SIS) diseases spreading over a population. Each agent represents a sub-population and has its own healing rate and infection rate;the state of the agent at a time instant denotes what fraction of the said sub-population is infected with the disease at the said time instant. By taking account of the changes in behaviors of the agents in response to the infection rates in real-time, our goal is to devise a feedback strategy such that the infection level for each agent strictly stays below a pre-specified value. Furthermore, we are also interested in ensuring that the closed-loop system converges either to the disease-free equilibrium or, when it exists, to the endemic equilibrium. The upshot of devising such a strategy is that it allows health administration officials to ensure that there is sufficient capacity in the healthcare system to treat the most severe cases. In recent years, as people’s living standards have improved and consumption concepts have been transformed, the demand for purchasing consumer electronics online has continued to grow, further stimulating the development of the logistics industry. Consequently, how to deliver consumer electronics to households at minimal cost has become a crucial factor that limits the development of the consumer technology industry. To tackle this problem, this paper studies the task assignment problem for multiple initially dispersed UAVs to deliver products to target locations while minimizing their total operation time. Each UAV can continuously provide delivery services to multiple target locations within its limited loading capacity and operation time. To solve this problem, we propose several hybrid multipopulation genetic algorithms. First, a novel crossover operator for the genetic algorithms is designed, through which a single parent chromosome can generate offspring individually. Second, two mutation mechanisms are performed to increase gene diversity. Third, multiple local search strategies are employed to enhance the populations’ fitness during each iteration of evolution. An improved 2-opt local search strategy is applied to optimize individual chromosomes when their similarity with the current best chromosome falls below a prescribed threshold. Alternatively, local search strategies are utilized for 1-opt, 2h-opt and interchange processes. Combining local search strategies, genetic operators, and the multi-population mechanism leads to several hybrid multi-population genetic algorithms. Numerical simulations and experimental tests demonstrate that the hybrid multi-population genetic algorithm, integrated with the improved 2-opt and 1-opt local search strategies, exhibits superior performance among the designed hybrid genetic algorithms, the minimum marginal cost algorithm (MMA), and the existing popular Co-evolutionary Multi-population Genetic Algorithm (CMGA). This paper investigates stealthy attacks on sampled-data control systems, where a continuous process is sampled periodically, and the resultant discrete output and control signals are transmitted through dual channels in wireless communication networks. Acknowledging the vulnerability of these transmitted data to cyber threats, we analyze two types of stealthy attacks that compromise either one or both channels. We explicitly present the necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of stealthy single-channel attacks. To mitigate these security risks, we implement encryption-based countermeasures, including linear time-invariant and periodic encryption methods. We detail sufficient conditions under which these encryption strategies effectively thwart single- and dual-channel stealthy attacks. The effectiveness of these approaches and the theoretical findings are demonstrated through numerical simulations. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Recognizing and understanding implicit driving cues across diverse cultures is imperative for fostering safe and efficient global transportation systems, particularly when training new immigrants holding driving licenses from culturally disparate countries. Additionally, it is essential to consider cross-cultural differences in the development of Automated Driving features tailored to different countries. Previous piloting studies have compared and analyzed cross-cultural differences in selected implicit driving cues, but they typically examine only limited countries. However, a comprehensive worldwide comparison and analysis are lacking. This study conducts a thorough review of existing literature, online blogs, and expert insights from diverse countries to investigate cross-cultural disparities in driving behaviors, specifically focusing on implicit cues such as non-verbal communication (e.g., hand gestures, signal lighting, honking), norms, and social expectations. Through comparative analysis, variations in driving cues are illuminated across different cultural contexts. Based on the findings and identified gaps, a research roadmap is proposed for future research to further explore and address these differences, aiming to enhance intercultural communication, improve road safety, and increase transportation efficiency on a global scale. This paper presents the pioneering work towards a comprehensive understanding of the implicit driving cues across cultures. Moreover, this understanding will inform the development of automated driving systems tailored to different countries considering cross-cultural differences.

The area of feature selection methods constantly expands along with the development of artificial intelligence domain, and has great impact on almost every field, whenever data is processed and explored. The paper presents research where a ranking method was proposed, inspired by an approach which comes from an algorithm for induction of decision rules. The ranking procedure was based on calculation of standard deviation for attributes, taking into account assigned class labels. This method was compared with another ranking mechanism, a modified version of popular Relief algorithm, with incorporating characteristics of variables by supervised discretisation. Comparison of obtained results included the aspect of knowledge representation as well as the perspective of the accuracy for constructed rule-based classifiers. The experiments were performed on datasets from stylometry domain, where authorship attribution was considered as a classification task, and stylometric descriptors as characteristic features defining writing styles of authors.

control of systems with operating condition-dependent dynamics, including control moment gyroscopes, often requires operating condition-dependent controllers to achieve high control performance. The aim of this paper is to develop a frequency response data-driven linear parameter-varying control design approach for single-input single-output systems, which allows improved performance for a control moment gyroscope. A stability theory using closed-loop frequency response function data is developed, which is subsequently used in a synthesis procedure that guarantees local stability and performance.
