Information-Centric Virtualized Cellular networks with Device-To-Device Communications

Information-centric wireless network virtualization enables the sharing of not only the infrastructure but also the content among different service providers, enabling the gain of not only virtualization but in-network caching as well. In this paper, we propose a novel framework with information-centric wireless virtualization and device-To-device (D2D) communications, which enables content caching not only in the air but in the mobile device as well. Moreover, the content is virtualized and can be shared by users from different virtual service providers. In this framework, we formulate the virtual resource allocation and caching strategies as a joint optimization problem, considering the gain of not only virtualization but of caching in the proposed information-centric wireless network virtualization architecture with D2D communications as well. In addition, to reduce computational complexity and signaling overhead, we propose a distributed algorithm to solve the formulated problem based on recent advances in alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM), in which different parties only need to solve their own problems without the exchange of channel state information (CSI) with fast convergence rate. Extensive simulations are conducted with different system parameters to show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

In this paper, a side polished multimode plastic optical fiber gas sensor coated with graphene/polyaniline nanocomposite is developed for ammonia gas sensing application. Graphene/polyaniline nanocomposite is deposited onto side polished plastic optical fiber by drop-casting method. The proposed sensor is exposed to different concentration of ammonia varies from 1% to 0.25 % at room temperature. Absorbance response of the gas sensor is monitored and recorded using spectrophotometer system. The absorbance increase linearly with the increase in the ammonia concentrations. The response and recovery time are 24 s and 71.8 s, respectively. © 2016 IEEE.

Mutual exclusion, as one of the main problems associated with distributed systems, requires that at any time only one node can access the shared resources. The conventional mutual exclusion algorithms cannot be used for mobile ad hoc networks due to the difference in the nature of their environments. For the mobility support of a mobile ad hoc mutual exclusion algorithm and the layer of implementation, algorithms are classified into static and dynamic. This paper aims to survey mainly dynamic mutual exclusion algorithms for mobile ad hoc networks and to present a taxonomy based on the techniques involved in decision making. In line with this, dynamic h-out-of-k mobile ad hoc mutual exclusion algorithms as the generalized form of dynamic mobile ad hoc mutual exclusion algorithms is studied and classified in a similar way. Personal information extraction as a subtask of entity profiling is the process of identifying and extracting useful and structured information of the focus person named-entity from the content related to it. This is a demanding task, so it is of great importance of how to extract the personal information in a given text. In this paper, we present an approach to extract the relevant information of the focus persons in Farsi content. Our approach contains three steps, pre-processing, attribute extraction and cross-document profile fusion. In pre-processing step, we prepare the input text as system's desired format using some existing text processing tools. In attribute extraction phase, we identify and extract all the related attributes of the target persons in a given text. To fulfill this aim, we use a pattern-matching approach. This method contains a set of keyword-based patterns and manually collected pre-compiled attribute-value candidate lists. In cross-document profile fusion phase, we integrate the distributed information of the focus persons from multiple documents and resolve ambiguity between person names. We evaluate our approach on a sample Farsi textual corpus drawn from news Websites and Wikipedia articles. The experimental results show that our approach is capable to extract personal information, thereby laying the foundation for person named-entity profiling in Farsi.

Many small businesses and public areas offer free Wi-Fi access, but may wish to restrict network access only to their customers or patrons inside the physical property. Unfortunately, due to the nature of wireless networks, this is difficult to accomplish. We develop and implement CLAC, a Crowdsourced Location aware Access Control scheme using physical layer information to address this challenge. It crowdsources both channel state information (CSI) and received signal strength (RSS) of already validated users to classify future users. We propose and use two CSI metrics in CLAC: CSI Cross-Antenna Stability Metric and CSI Cross-Frame Stability Metric, which summarize well the spatial and temporal CSI characteristics respectively. CLAC is evaluated in an office and a classroom. Evaluation results show that CLAC performs well in both environments, allowing most valid users inside the area to access the network, while the chance that invalid users outside the boundary may access the network is small.

Typically, evanescent-field optical fiber sensors utilize tapered fiber structure to enhance the evanescent filed interaction with the sensing medium. A nanostructured sensing layer is applied to further enhance the sensitivity of the sensor. This paper investigates the use of tapered fiber sensor coated with graphene oxide (GO) nano-film. Optimization of the GO layer and the tapering parameters were performed and the sensing capability of the device is tested using different concentrations of ethanol. The sensor demonstrates fast response and recovery to aqueous ethanol when interrogated in the visible region using a spectrometer and light source which is 20 seconds and 30 seconds respectively.

network Function Virtualization (NFV) has been proposed as a paradigm to increase the cost-efficiency, flexibility and innovation in network service provisioning. By leveraging IT virtualization techniques in combination with programmable networks, NFV is able to decouple network functionality from the physical devices on which they are deployed. This opens up new business opportunities for both Infrastructure Providers (InPs) as well as Service Providers (SPs), where the SP can request to deploy a chain of Virtual network Functions (VNFs) on top of which its service can run. However, current NFV approaches lack the possibility for SPs to define location requirements and constraints on the mapping of virtual functions and paths onto physical hosts and links. Nevertheless, many scenarios can be envisioned in which the SP would like to attach placement constraints for efficiency, resilience, legislative, privacy and economic reasons. Therefore, we propose a set of affinity and anti-affinity constraints, which can be used by SPs to define such placement restrictions. This newfound ability to add constraints to Service Function Chain (SFC) requests also introduces an additional risk that SFCs with conflicting constraints are requested or automatically generated. Therefore, a framework is proposed that allows the InP to check the validity of a set of constraints and provide feedback to the SP. To achieve this, the SFC request and relevant information on the physical topology are modeled as an ontology of which the consistency can be checked using a semantic reasoner. Enabling semantic validation of SFC requests, eliminates inconsistent SFCs requests from being transferred to the embedding algorithm.
