With the rapid improvement of technology and economy, the percentage of transportation, like automobile, gradually increases. However, the number of cars increases, the methods of management stretches lots of problems, such as parking, traffic and thievery. Hence, Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) have been emphasized step by step and set up one after another around the world. The purpose of this study was to find a best combination of key training items. Companies are generally concerned about whether training can increase business performance and want to know what training items are crucial to enhancement of performance. Thus, there is a need to find the key training items. In this study, a combined scheme of Genetic Algorithms (GA) and Support Vector Machines (SVM) is employed to find the optimal combination of the key items. The data used are collected from some small and medium-sized enterprises and are from the database of the Bureau of Employment and Vocational Training (BEVT) in Taiwan. Results from this study show that an optimal combination of key items can be effectively found by using the proposed approach. When companies intend to successfully improve the business performance and cost-efficiently implement training, they can focus on the key training items. © 2010 Asian Network for Scientific Information.

Emerging trends in software development has been changed due to the huge amount of data, growth of internet, mobile, dynamic and smart applications. Most of such applications consist of small, intelligent, flexible and distributed components known as agents. Number of agent methodologies has been presented but few of these are evaluated and verified. Due to the invention of agent technology, the way to analyze, design and build the systems has been changed. Agents take input from the multiple sources and have real time response. Vehicle traffic management especially in large cities is rapidly becoming one of the major challenges due to heavy growth in population and vehicles. Our research proposed a solution for traffic control and management system using intelligent/ autonomous agents technology. These agents have the ability to observe, act and learn from their experience. Our system uses the knowledge of flow of previous signal to predict the incoming flow for the next signal. The proposed architecture involves the video analysis and exploration using some machine learning techniques to estimate and guess the flow of traffic.

A behavioral strategy designed for a humanoid robot for the purpose of obstacle avoidance based on four ultrasonic sensors for the learning behavior and performance is proposed and implemented with an autonomous humanoid robot. A mechanical structure with 4 degrees of freedom is designed so that a small-size humanoid robot named ARSR is able to accomplish three types of walking motion. One experiment is presented to illustrate ow the the proposed bipedal structure lets the ARSR move forward, turn left and turn right. Four ultrasonic sensors are mounted on the ARSR to obtain environmental information and detect obstacles. Based on the information obtained from these sensors, a decision tree method is proposed to decide upon one behavior from three possible types of movement: walk forward, turn left and turn right. An experiment is carried out to show how the robot can autonomously avoid obstacles to effectively arrive at its destination. Based on the mechanic design and development, we will get a good agreement for the learning behavior and performance.

Facial expression is one of the most expressive ways for human beings to deliver their emotion, intention, and other nonverbal messages in face to face communications. In this chapter, a layered parametric framework is proposed to synthesize the emotional facial expressions for an MPEG4 compliant talking avatar based on the three dimensional PAD model, including pleasure-displeasure, arousal-nonarousal and dominance-submissiveness. The PAD dimensions are used to capture the high-level emotional state of talking avatar with specific facial expression. A set of partial expression parameter (PEP) is designed to depict the expressive facial motion patterns in local face areas, and reduce the complexity of directly manipulation of low-level MPEG4 facial animation parameters (FAP). The relationship among the emotion (PAD), expression (PEP) and animation (FAP) parameter is analyzed on a virtual facial expression database. Two levels of parameter mapping are implemented, namely the emotion-expression mapping from PAD to PEP, and the linear interpolation from PEP to FAP. The synthetic emotional facial expression is combined with the talking avatar speech animation in a text to audio visual speech system. Perceptual evaluation shows that our approach can generate appropriate facial expressions for subtle and complex emotions defined by PAD and thus enhance the emotional expressivity of talking avatar. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2010.

The complex relationships between organizational practices have been the focus of information technology business value (ITBV) research in recent years. There appears to be a discernible trend toward a more nuanced view in which the effects of information technology (IT), various organizational practices and their relationships are systematically investigated. There is also emerging evidence of recent focus in organizational factors and an increasing shift towards "complementarities" in which organizational performance is linked to combining organizational practices in synergistic ways. The objective of this paper is to investigate important issues in ITBV research by examining complementarities of various resources within an organization. The goal of this paper is to establish a framework for analyzing different configurations of complementarities. The Configuration and Interestingness framework (CIF) proposed in this paper provides evidence on how important the understanding of those complex relationship structures amongst organizational practices is to maximizing business value. This framework serves as a preliminary attempt to reveal different possible classes of complementarities structures.

Mutation testing has been used to assess and improve the quality of test inputs. Generating test inputs to achieve high mutant-killing ratios is important in mutation testing. However, existing test-generation techniques do not provide effective support for killing mutants in mutation testing. In this paper, we propose a general test-generation approach, called PexMutator, for mutation testing using Dynamic Symbolic Execution (DSE), a recent effective test-generation technique. Based on a set of transformation rules, PexMutator transforms a program under test to an instrumented meta-program that contains mutant-killing constraints. Then PexMutator uses DSE to generate test inputs for the meta-program. The mutant-killing constraints introduced via instrumentation guide DSE to generate test inputs to kill mutants automatically. We have implemented our approach as an extension for Pex, an automatic structural testing tool developed at Microsoft Research. Our preliminary experimental study shows that our approach is able to strongly kill more than 80% of all the mutants for the five studied subjects. In addition, PexMutator is able to outperform Pex, a state-of-the-art test-generation tool, in terms of strong mutant killing while achieving the same block coverage.

To address business requirements and to survive in competing markets, companies or open source organizations often have to release different versions of their projects in different languages. Manually migrating projects from one language to another (such as from Java to C#) is a tedious and error-prone task. To reduce manual effort or human errors, tools can be developed for automatic migration of projects from one language to another. However, these tools require the knowledge of how Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) of one language are mapped to APIs of the other language, referred to as API mapping relations. In this paper, we propose a novel approach, called MAM (Mining API Mapping), that mines API mapping relations from one language to another using API client code. MAM accepts a set of projects each with two versions in two languages and mines API mapping relations between those two languages based on how APIs are used by the two versions. These mined API mapping relations assist in migration of projects from one language to another. We implemented a tool and conducted two evaluations to show the effectiveness of MAM. The results show that our tool mines 25,805 unique mapping relations of APIs between Java and C# with more than 80% accuracy. The results also show that mined API mapping relations help reduce 54.4% compilation errors and 43.0% defects during migration of projects with an existing migration tool, called Java2CSharp. The reduction in compilation errors and defects is due to our new mined mapping relations that are not available with the existing migration tool.

This study focuses on the development of triangular fuzzy numbers, the revising of triangular fuzzy numbers, and the constructing of a HCFN (half-circle fuzzy number) model which can be utilized to perform more plural operations. They are further transformed for trigonometric functions and polar coordinates. From half-circle fuzzy numbers we can conceive cylindrical fuzzy numbers, which work better in algebraic operations. An example of fuzzy control is given in a simulation to show the applicability of the proposed half-circle fuzzy numbers.
