With the proliferation of hedonic information systems, understanding users' acceptance of hedonic information systems has become a new topic for practitioners and academics. While perceived playfulness or perceived enjoyment has been found to have a significant influence on the behavioral intention to use hedonic information systems, little research has been conducted to investigate empirically the antecedents of perceived playfulness and the mediating role that perceived playfulness has in user acceptance of hedonic information systems. Thus, the main purpose of this study is to explore the mediating role of perceived playfulness in the psychological process of user acceptance of hedonic online game systems. Based on previous literature, two individual difference variables (i.e., computer self-efficacy and computer anxiety) and three system characteristics variables (i.e., challenge, feedback, and speed) were proposed as potential antecedents of perceived playfulness in the context of massive multiplayer online games. The results indicate that perceived playfulness plays a partial mediating role in the relationship of system characteristics and individual differences to behavioral intention. Both challenge and computer self-efficacy were found to have a significant influence on behavioral intention via perceived playfulness, with computer self-efficacy also having a direct influence on behavioral intention. computer anxiety, however, was only found to have a direct influence on behavioral intention. Also, neither feedback nor speed was found to have a significant effect on perceived playfulness. The results of this study provide several important implications for research and practices of hedonic information systems/online game design and promotion.

The accurate prediction of cyberspace situation is fundamental to intrusion prevention in large scale networks. After analyzing the cyberspace situation, a cyberspace situation prediction model based on gene expression programming (GEP-CSP) is proposed, to predict the time series of cyberspace situation. Besides, since its own intrinsic characteristics, GEP-CSP solves the problem that the traditional time series methods can't make an accurate prediction without the pre-knowledge. By employing GEP-CSP, the experiments on Abilene network flow data reached the expectation and made a precise prediction.

In the last few years we have seen a significant growth in synchronous optical network (SONET) deployments in telecommunication service providers. With growth of data traffic, network operators seek network-engineering tools to extract the maximum benefits out of the existing infrastructure. This has suggested a number of new optimization problems, most of them in the field of combinatorial optimization. We address here the Weighted Ring Edge-Loading Problem (WRELP). The WRELP is an important optimization problem arising in a popular ring topology for communication networks - given a set of nodes connected along a bi-directional SONET ring, the objective is to minimize the maximum load on the edges (pairwise) of a ring. Our procedure includes some original features, including the application of Hybrid Differential Evolution. We also perform comparisons with standard differential evolution, genetic algorithm and tabu search.

In GSM networks, the Frequency Assignment is a critical task for the mobile operators. In this paper we study different multiobjective metaheuristics to address the Frequency Assignment problem (FAP). In fact, solving optimization problems with multiple (often conflicting) objectives is, generally, a very difficult goal. This is the scenario in the FAP, where it is sought an assignment of frequencies to a number of transmitters in as efficient way as possible. The multiobjective FAP tries to minimize the number of interferences caused when a limited number of frequencies needs to be assigned to a high number of transceivers. Besides these interferences costs, the separation costs are also considered. Our approach uses a Multiobjective Variable Neighborhood Search (MOVNS) algorithm and also its variant Multiobjective Skewed Variable Neighborhood Search (MO-SVNS). Two real-world GSM networks were used, currently being in operation, to test the presented metaheuristics.

The variance of an observable in a quantum state is usually used to describe Heisenberg uncertainty relation. For mixed states, the variance includes quantum and classical uncertainties. By means of the skew information and the decomposition of the variance, a stronger uncertainty relation was presented by Luo [Phys. Rev. A 72, 042110 (2005)]. In this paper, by using Wigner-Yanase-Dyson information which is a generalization of the skew information, we propose a general uncertainty relation of mixed states.

e-Learner satisfaction is an important factor of improving teaching andlearning effectiveness. The objectives of this research are to determine theimportant criteria influencing e-learner satisfaction in order to supportevaluation-related tasks, to integrate satisfaction model determinants from,established Technology Acceptance Models, Theory of Planned Behavior andFaireness Theory cited in research literature, and to identify critical factorsinfluencing e-learner satisfaction by Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) anddevelop a simplified but more accurate hybrid evaluation model. Two keycontributions of this paper as follows: First, the investigator developed, a,novel hybrid, e-learner satisfaction model which combined technology factorsand, psychological factors for evaluating e-learner satisfaction ***, this is the first study that investigates the relationship between thesubjective norm, of Theory of Planned, Behavior and, e-learner satisfaction aswell as the relationship between e-learner's intension to use and, e-learnersatisfaction. Entering the 21st century, the aging process and increasing chronic diseases in Taiwan society have become more prevalent. To deal with the problem, we develop a ubiquitous healthcare (u-Health) system platform that integrates wireless telecommunication, sensor network, and information technology to take care of patients having chronic diseases. The u-Health system provides not only telecare at home setting, but also a health community network which can further integrate medical care and life care and emphasize on patent humanity and dignity. For this purpose, a holistic u-Health system focusing on the physiological, psychosocial, arts, recreational, and even spiritual aspects of patients was implemented for people living in the community. In this study, we applied our community based u-Health system to the current and retired employees of National Taiwan University (NTU) who had at least one of the following chronic diseases: hypertension, diabetes mellitus and obesity, and required long term follow up and treatment. A community medical group (CMG) which is formed with family doctors from the Family Medicine department of NTU Hospital, the Yung-Ho Branch of Cardinal Tien Hospital, NTU Health Center, and several other local clinics in Taipei City was in charge of the medical care along with a dedicated case managing nurse for the medical care at outpatient clinics, home telecare and 24-hour health consultation. Using this integrated community-based system is expected to provide a comprehensive and ubiquitous healthcare and eventually improve the quality of care by increasing compliance and reducing the complications of chronic diseases.

In vehicular ad hoc network the fast movements of the node and the dynamic topological changes lead to the frequent disconnection of the multi-hop routing, and further lead to the challenge for routing algorithm on how to accurately acquire information of the destination node and how to forward packets. This paper proposes a routing protocol that incorporates greedy forwarding and directional forwarding based on geographical position called — GDGP. The position information of the destination nodes stored on every node could be updated through two independent message interactive mechanisms, which makes sure of the consistency of the position information recorded on every node and the real-time performance when refinds the routing. This further ensures the reliability of the routing algorithm. We compare the performance of GPSR and GDGP using network simulator NS-2 with the actual node movement model. The simulation results show that the improved routing protocol has a better performance in city scenes.

The use of networks in control systems to connect controllers and sensors/actuators has become a common practice. A networked switched control system, a special case of such systems, is studied in this paper by making use of linear descriptor system theory. Such a control system is modeled as switched delay systems involving network-induced delay and packet dropout. Sufficient conditions for robust exponential stability are given for a class of switching signals with average dwell time. A design method to stabilize a continuous-time, linear switched plant under a given communication network via a hybrid state feedback controller is proposed. The design solution for hybrid controllers is network-dependent and given in terms of linear matrix inequalities.
