Implementation and evaluation of interactive online video learning for childcare SOPs

Most digital content and most digital libraries are mainly concerned with artefacts rather than the craft in making them or the skill in using these artefacts. The same concerns manifested in hospital and childcare standard operation procedures (SOPs). The motivation for this project is based on several observations. First, information technology and digital libraries are convenient and efficient virtual environments for teaching and learning. In addition, they can be built to the Internet. Second, students in universities expect state-of-the art learning resources from the Web. Third, life-long learning is becoming increasingly important worldwide. Fourth, housewives who intend to be child caregivers will particularly benefit from E-learning materials. Finally, E-learning with interactive videos provides more learner satisfaction than non-interactive and traditional classroom learning. In this paper, an application of online learning in child caregiver training is presented with step-by-step interactive videos that can be used for education of child caregivers. Metadata compatible with the Dublin core are used for recording the individual steps of SOPs. By analyzing and comparing the test scores using t-test, it was found that the system provides a more effective method than the non-interactive or traditional classroom learning (p<0.05). Additionally, analysis of the questionnaires shows that interactive video learning provides more learner satisfaction with Cronbach α measure of 0.766. In conclusion, the system implements a website of childcare SOP and supports an interactive online learning environment for practicing childcare skills. In the future, large-scale investigation and evaluation with more learners will be done for exploring the drawbacks and advantages of interactive learning.

The last years, the voice and the Internet access services have become a commodity, having as a result the offering from network providers, both fixed and mobile, a bunch of services. These developments are posing new requirements to existing networks, which are circuit based, and an evolution path is needed towards next generation networks, which allows the provision of multimedia services with guarantee quality of service. Mobile operators are facing the greatest challenges, since they have to reform their networks in order to provide data and multimedia services and the definition of the IP multimedia Subsystem (IMS) framework is one step towards that direction. The purpose of this paper is to shed light on significant issues, in terms of network architecture and protocols of multimedia next generation networks,,allowing the definition of an evolution scenario of existing networks towards next generation multimedia networks.

A study of the intension of using computer as a strategic resource of web searching

The purpose of this study was to explore the awareness of Technology strategic usefulness of computers as a searching tool. The argument of this study was that people using technology because of knowing its usefulness. If people recognized usefulness of technology, the strategic usefulness would be enhanced aware via the learning of technology strategic importance. A nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design was applied on senior high school students in the study. The sampled subjects were one hundred and eleven students. Fifty-five of them were treated as the experimental group, and the other fifty-six were treated as the control-group. Members of experimental group were offered classes based on original uses of web-search and teaching of "Technology Strategic Usefulness, TSU" material. On the other hand, the member-students of control group were offered with ordinary uses of Web-search. An evaluation tool was designed for learning achievement of logic. For both technology usefulness and technology strategic usefulness, a scale of usefulness was also layout. After the experimental treatment, students took both Web-search Logic Achievement Test and Technology strategic usefulness of Web-search Scale. Statistical analysis was applied to reveal the experimental results. The findings of this research are :(1) the relationship between usefulness and strategic importance was significant. (2) Strategic importance is an antecedent of technology strategic usefulness.

In this study, handshake protocol for patient, medical center and doctor, medical center is proposed for electronic medical record transmission to improve the confidentiality of data transmission and non-repudiation of sending and receiving medical records. The proposed topology depends on symmetric and asymmetric cryptography to achieve high level of secrecy for electronic medical records. The new topology has been described on multi-users (i.e., Doctors and Patient). The new topology has been implemented using Ntru crypto-system and AES encryption method. The proposed solution has been tested to have high level of confidentiality up to the legal age of the medical records. © 2010 Asian Network for Scientific Information.

Virtual Enterprises are a, relatively, new business model that is greatly depended on network technology. Providing services in such an environment is a challenge in itself;architectural, technological and organisational difficulties have not permitted yet the development of a framework for Virtual Enterprise enaction. In this paper we describe a Virtual Private Network architecture that uses special monitor and coordination processes in order to achieve efficient delivery of services and activities in Virtual Enterprise environments. We discuss the general architecture of the system, emphasising on the solutions used to monitor and co-ordinate various activities.

This paper introduces the architecture of an open information and communication platform that integrates all relevant participants in health and social sector. The main concept of the proposed platform is based on concept introduced by new computing paradigms and the need of transformation of the existing internetworking and web technologies into a human resource pool that will be accessible by anyone, at anytime, and from everywhere in support of their needs. This platform intends to create the essential infrastructure for the provisioning of health and social services to individuals that receive residential care using Peer-to-Peer (P2P) networks over Internet, GSM and PSTN networks. The use of new computing models such as Service-Oriented computing, Grid, P2P and argumentation technologies are discussed. Furthermore, the functional requirements and the architecture of a complete solution are presented.

Platform-based design for system-on-chips (SoCs) uses existing designs as starting points for new system implementations and put more stress on system level reuse. Synthesis methods are important elements in platform-based design methodologies. This paper takes hardware/software (HW/SW) co-design and high level design reuse as keys to SoC design. First, it introduces a system level coexploration methodology and presents a typical platform-based design flow. Then it emphasizes performance analysis, considering a problem called the first-generation dilemma, proposes a revised platform-based design flow. To support design technology innovations, several synthesis issues are discussed, such as platform reuse, configurable architecture, and system level verification. In addition, it adopts market-oriented views and synthesis tools such as Cadence VCC to make the design practical. © 2005 IEEE.

The wealth of information available in the internet or local corpora has increased while our ability to search and retrieve relevant information is being reduced. Hypermedia, being complex information objects, are difficult to manage. In this paper we propose some new algorithms for searching and retrieving hypermedia documents from a local server by taking advantage content and context information. Besides presenting new solutions for hypertext, we review the state of the art in multimedia data mining and present future trends in this research area.
