Leveraging system mastering (ML) algorithms has become an increasingly exciting technique for optimizing actual-time facts analysis performance. Today, malaria is a dangerous disease caused by Plasmodium parasites and transmitted by the bite of Anopheles mosquitoes. It is estimated that more than 200,000 cases of malaria will occur every day worldwide, and more than 400,000 people will die from malaria. Early diagnosis of malaria is important to mitigate the morbidity and mortality of the disease. In this paper, a fully trained capsule neural network combined with a convolutional neural network model is proposed for malaria detection from blood smear microscopic images. In malaria diagnosis, the hybrid CapsNet model can detect malaria in blood samples. The hybrid model is optimized based on malaria data in microscopic images of infected and uninfected blood. Images are processed and enhanced through rotation before being fed into the hybrid CapsNet model. The CapsNet hybrid model is examined for malaria data with a learning rate of 0.07 and a batch size of 20. Hybrid CapsNet model shows improved results in detecting malaria from microscopic images measured against the currently available standard malaria test. Constraints like malaria parasite detection rate, accuracy, F1 index and blood smear classification is used to gauge the attainment of the hybrid CapsNet model. Detection rate of 99%, accuracy of 99.08% and FAR of 0.97% is attained by the hybrid CapsNet model as contrary to the traditional state-of-the-art model, the DSCN-Net, where the detection rate was 98%, the accuracy was 97.2%, and the FAR was 0.99%. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Generally, depression is the most prevalent mental disorder, which has affected hundreds of people around the world and causes a high risk of committing suicide. Automatic diagnosis of depression detection plays a vital role in examining people’s mental illness through various Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques and has a high probability of reducing patient’s burden by early treatments. In this research, the crucial area of depression detection is examined, with an emphasis on the crucial function of hybridized algorithms. More studies have been developed worldwide to provide a review of depression detection techniques. Still, obtaining significant information about the input data and the different mechanisms utilized in each research for depression detection is challenging. Consequently, this review presents a systematic review of various Deep Learning (DL) and Machine Learning (MI) techniques based on the input data utilized in the models for detecting depression, heralding a seismic shift in our understanding of depression and the diagnostic and support systems connected to it. More specifically, this review examines the literature from 50 recent research articles based on depression detection topics incorporated with its significant morphology that helps findings in the creation of novel models in the future. Further, this review discusses the research gaps, challenges, dataset collection, interdisciplinary cooperation, other ideal strategies, and future scope for progressing and catalyzing the research in this domain. In addition, this review presents an overview to identify the objectives and restrictions of different literature works presented in the domain of depression detection. The rapid growth of urbanization has led to a surge in demand for smart city systems that can efficiently manage resources and ensure safety. This paper delves into the design and simulation of a Smart City System that leverages Fog Computing. Fog Computing involves distributing computation and storage resources across devices located at the network edge. The system integrates a diverse range of sensors, including surveillance cameras, VPR (Vehicle Plate Recognition) cameras, and audio sensors, strategically deployed across different city areas. These sensors monitor traffic, detect anomalies, and promptly provide real-time alerts. The Fog architecture enhances system responsiveness by processing data closer to its source, thereby reducing latency and bandwidth consumption. To model and simulate the interaction between various Fog devices, cloud resources, and edge-based applications, we employ CloudSim, a cloud simulation tool. By meticulously mapping different application modules to devices based on their capabilities, we simulate the execution of smart city applications, such as video capture, traffic detection, and audio alarm triggering. The results show the possibility of employing Fog Computing for building an efficient, scalable, and responsive system for a smart city. Fog computing has the potential to significantly impact large urban areas by processing data at the edge, thereby reducing latency and bandwidth consumption.

Individuals with sensorineural hearing loss often experience difficulty comprehending speech when background noise is present. This paper investigates the extent of this problem in various listening scenarios and with different types of background sounds. Additionally, the section explores the contributing factors to this challenge such as reduced audibility, reduced frequency selectivity, loudness recruitment, and dead regions in the cochlea where there are no surviving inner hair cells and or neurons. The sections evaluate different techniques for compensating for the effects of these factors. While signal-processing methods using the output of a single microphone to compensate for reduced frequency selectivity have had limited success, techniques utilizing multiple microphones have proven effective. Amplitude compression has also been effective in compensating for the effects of loudness recruitment, enabling individuals to understand speech across a wide range of sound levels. Next, the paper delves into the technical aspects of implementing fall detection systems in hearing aids. learning algorithms are also investigated for their potential in enhancing fall detection accuracy and minimizing false alarms. Furthermore, the importance of user-friendly interfaces and customization features in ensuring the effectiveness and acceptance of fall detection alerts is also highlighted. The paper also addresses the ethical and privacy considerations associated with fall detection in hearing aids. It emphasizes the need for transparent data handling practices and user consent, while also addressing potential concerns related to user autonomy and intrusion.
