Several instances of pneumonia with no clear etiology were recorded in Wuhan,China,on December 31,*** world health organization(WHO)called it COVID-19 that stands for“Coronavirus Disease 2019,”which is the second version of the previously known severe acute respiratory syndrome(SARS)Coronavirus and identified in short as(SARSCoV-2).There have been regular restrictions to avoid the infection spread in all countries,including Saudi *** prediction of new cases of infections is crucial for authorities to get ready for early handling of the virus ***:Analysis and forecasting of epidemic patterns in new SARSCoV-2 positive patients are presented in this research using metaheuristic optimization and long short-term memory(LSTM).The optimization method employed for optimizing the parameters of LSTM is Al-Biruni Earth Radius(BER)***:To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology,a dataset is collected based on the recorded cases in Saudi Arabia between March 7^(th),2020 and July 13^(th),*** addition,six regression models were included in the conducted experiments to show the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed *** achieved results show that the proposed approach could reduce the mean square error(MSE),mean absolute error(MAE),and R^(2)by 5.92%,3.66%,and 39.44%,respectively,when compared with the six base *** the other hand,a statistical analysis is performed to measure the significance of the proposed ***:The achieved results confirm the effectiveness,superiority,and significance of the proposed approach in predicting the infection cases of COVID-19.

This paper deals with the consensus tracking of multi-agent systems in the presence of some Byzantine agents. Steering the agents toward a predefined reference via model predictive control and, besides, encountering the misbehaving agents, are the main aims of the paper. Using graph properties alongside the Weighted-Mean-Subsequence-Reduced (W-MSR) algorithm led to a control method for special kinds of multi-agent systems. Combining model predictive control with W-MSR results in a new algorithm called Reference-Based-W-MSR (RBW-MSR), which has made the consensus point fixed according to a predetermined reference. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm would be illustrated via simulation results in which different scenarios have been examined to exhibit the success of the method. © 2022 IEEE.

In this paper, we enhance a distributed version of the well known k-means algorithm with privacy-preservation features. While ensuring that sensitive or confidential information remains undisclosed to unauthorized entities (in our case these entities are curious nodes within the network), we maintain the desirable features of the distributed algorithm: the transmitted values are quantized, which optimizes bandwidth utilization and alleviates communication bottlenecks, and nodes possess the ability to collectively determine when to terminate the algorithm, which enables the conservation of valuable resources. We introduce a novel privacy-preserving protocol that not only preserves the privacy of a node's state, but it also ensures confidentiality about its cluster affiliation (i.e., it does not reveal to curious nodes whether a node participates in the update calculation for a specific centroid value). Moreover, we precisely characterize topological conditions that guarantee privacy preservation for individual nodes. Our distributed algorithm allows the formation of exclusive clusters within a finite time frame on any static and strongly connected directed graph. © 2023 IEEE.

Cyber-physical systems under hybrid cyber-attacks: Resilient event-triggered H∞ control approach

This article introduces a novel adaptive event-triggered finite-time H∞ control approach for Cyber-Physical Systems (CPSs) under the influence of bounded disturbances, actuator faults, and randomly occurring hybrid cyber-attacks, including aperiodic DoS attacks, deception attacks, and replay attacks. This paper presents a novel integrated framework for hybrid attacks that consists of aperiodic DoS attacks, deception attacks, and replay attacks. To minimize continuous data transmissions in the network and maximize the utilization of limited resources, an adaptive periodic event-triggered mechanism (APETM) is developed by employing the DoS-dependent adaptive varying threshold. Compared to common event-triggered mechanisms, this method allows for periodic monitoring and effectively increases the lower bound of event intervals, making it well-suited for real-world applications. Initially, a new theoretical framework for cyber-physical systems is proposed, incorporating an adaptive periodic event-triggered mechanism under hybrid cyber-attacks, external disturbances, and actuator faults. Based on the established model, the Lyapunov-Krasovskii stability theory is employed to establish sufficient conditions for ensuring the finite-time stability with an H∞ performance level. Additionally, a linear matrix inequality technique is utilized to determine the controller gains and triggering parameters. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through a simulation of the one-link flexible joint robot systems. © 2025 ISA

Normalizing flows (NFs) have been shown to be advantageous in modeling complex distributions and improving sampling efficiency for unbiased *** this work, we propose a new class of continuous NFs, ascent continuous normalizing flows (ACNFs), that makes a base distribution converge faster to a target *** solving such a flow is non-trivial and barely possible, we propose a practical implementation to learn flexibly parametric ACNFs via ascent regularization and apply it in two learning cases: maximum likelihood learning for density estimation and minimizing reverse KL divergence for unbiased sampling and variational *** learned ACNFs demonstrate faster convergence towards the target distributions, therefore, achieving better density estimations, unbiased sampling and variational approximation at lower computational ***, the flows show to stabilize themselves to mitigate performance deterioration and are less sensitive to the choice of training flow length T. © 2023 11th International Conference on Learning Representations, ICLR 2023. This paper discusses the reduction of background noise in an industrial environment to extend *** the Industry 4.0 era,the mass development of voice control(speech recognition)in various industrial applications is possible,especially as related to augmented reality(such as hands-free control via voice commands).As Industry 4.0 relies heavily on radiofrequency technologies,some brief insight into this problem is provided,including the Internet of things(IoT)and 5G *** study was carried out in cooperation with the industrial partner Brose CZ spol.s.r.o.,where sound recordings were made to produce a *** experimental environment comprised three workplaces with background noise above 100 dB,consisting of a laser/magnetic welder and a press.A virtual device was developed from a given dataset in order to test selected commands from a commercial speech recognizer from *** tested a hybrid algorithm for noise reduction and its impact on voice command recognition *** virtual devices,the study was carried out on large speakers with 20 participants(10 men and 10 women).The experiments included a large number of repetitions(100 times for each command under different noise conditions).Statistical results confirmed the efficiency of the tested *** welding environment efficiency was 27%before applied filtering,76%using the least mean square(LMS)algorithm,and 79%using LMS+independent component analysis(ICA).Magnetic welding environment efficiency was 24%before applied filtering,70%with LMS,and 75%with LMS+*** workplace environment efficiency showed no success before applied filtering,was 52%with LMS,and was 54%with LMS+ICA.

The novel Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic has begun in China and is still affecting thousands of patient livesworldwide *** X-ray and Computed Tomography are the gold standardmedical imaging modalities for diagnosing potentially infected COVID-19 cases,applying Ultrasound(US)imaging technique to accomplish this crucial diagnosing task has attracted many physicians *** this article,we propose two modified deep learning classifiers to identify COVID-19 and pneumonia diseases in US images,based on generative adversarial neural networks(GANs).The proposed image classifiers are a semi-supervised GAN and a modifiedGANwith auxiliary *** one includes a modified discriminator to identify the class of the US image using semi-supervised learning technique,keeping its main function of defining the“realness”of tested *** tests have been successfully conducted on public dataset of US images acquired with a convex US *** study demonstrated the feasibility of using chest US images with two GAN classifiers as a new radiological tool for clinical check of COVID-19 *** results of our proposed GAN models showed that high accuracy values above 91.0%were obtained under different sizes of limited training data,outperforming other deep learning-based methods,such as transfer learning models in the recent ***,the clinical implementation of our computer-aided diagnosis of US-COVID-19 is the future work of this study.

To avoid micro-organisms spreading in hospitals, hand hygiene and hospital environment disinfection and cleaning is considered to prevent the infections. Therefore, CDC provides hand hygiene and surface cleaning evaluation methods to ensure that source of micro-organisms is disposed. Basically, the surface cleaning is evaluated by the cleaning evaluator who identifies the unclean area through the brightness area of fluorescent marker shined by blacklight under a dark room. However, the evaluation errors may occur if the determine surface is barely clean where the fluorescent marker is not completely removed. Moreover, it is very difficult to meet the same evaluation standard if the evaluation is done by human estimation. In addition, it takes long evaluation time via visual evaluation. In this paper, we propose an automated surface cleaning evaluation algorithm that evaluates the surface cleaning automatically by extracting the color image component, blue, which is noticeably bright under the blacklight characteristic. In the experiment, we compare the performance of the proposed algorithm using blue component to other image components. As a result, the proposed algorithm shows the highest accuracy determined by the experienced cleaning evaluator. Moreover, the proposed algorithm shows 4.384 times faster of surface cleaning detection than cleaning evaluator. © 2024 IEEE.
