Covid-19 pandemic is spreading across the world at a breakneck pace. As of September 2022, JHU CSSE COVID-19 Data and Our World in Data have recorded up to 5.2 M deaths due to Covid-19. One of the essential steps of fighting this pandemic is to detect the disease early. Studies show some abnormalities in the chest X-rays of the Covid-19 patients, and these features help classify the covid-19 positive patients from the negative patients. In recent years in the field of medical x-rays, Deep Learning models have proven to have the ability to learn and identify features that a trained person can only identify. Due to the exponential increase in the covid-19 cases, the waiting time for covid results has increased, resulting in the late diagnosis of patients for Covid-19. Classifying a patient as Covid-19 positive for a genuinely covid positive patient is as essential as classifying a patient Covid-19 negative who is genuinely covid-negative. Here we present a detailed quantitative analysis on the performance of state-of-the-art models like ResNet-50, Dense-Net, Mobile-Net-V2, and MNAS-Net on classifying patients for Covid positive, Pneumonia positive, and Normal by evaluating Accuracy, Precision, Recall, and Jaccard Index. We propose a new deep neural network classification model for low-end devices that uses two Attention mechanisms. Figure 1. shows the attention map with confidence percentage for each classes. Our model uses fewer parameters and FLOPS than other state-of-the-art models and recorded a 2% increase in Accuracy and other evaluation parameters. The dataset used for implementation is a public dataset COVID-DATASET and NIH Chest X-ray from kaggle. It has over 1000 images of Covid Chest X-ray, Pneumothrax, Mass, Pneumonia, Cardiomegaly, Nodule, Effusion, Atelectasis and inflitration. Paravirtualization manages virtual machines and virtual re- sources effciently by the communication between the virtu- alization layer and modified guest OSes. In a paravirtual environment, the I/O response of a virtual machine is hard to approach that of a native OS because a virtual I/O is asynchronously processed by the virtualization layer with- out hardware supports. Virtual CPU scheduling algorithms have been proposed to improve the I/O performance. How- ever, existing solutions lack the I/O fairness when virtual machines have various or skewed of workloads because they put the I/O performance of latency-sensitive vCPUs before vCPUs that are not. In this paper, we design a credit based vCPU scheduling model for I/O performance of virtual ma- chines by using a loan and repayment system. Credit rating of each virtual CPU is periodically evaluated by observing its resource consumption pattern and a virtual CPU cannot be allocated more resources until the repayment is finished. © 2017 Association for Computing Machinery.

This paper is a study on the design of microwave waveguide filter suitable for micromachining process. Novel structure and processes are introduced which allow accurate fabrication of low loss waveguide filter. This new technique applies micro-fabrication processes to improve fabrication accuracy. A W-band micromachined rectangular waveguide filter utilizing SU-8 micromachining with CPW input and output ports has been designed. Simulated frequency responses exhibit insertion loss of 1.18 dB across 1 GHz bandwidth for W-band frequency range centered at 93 GHz with return loss better than -20 dB.

The widely use of GPS-enabled devices has provided us amount of trajectories related to individuals' activities. This gives us an opportunity to learn more about the users' daily lives and offer optimized suggestions to improve people's trip styles. In this paper, we mine regular routes from a users' historical trajectory dataset, and provide ridesharing recommendations to a group of users who share similar routes. Here, regular route means a complete route where a user may frequently pass through approximately in the same time of day. In this paper, we first divide users' GPS data into individual routes, and a group of routes which occurred in a similar time of day are grouped together by a sliding time window. A frequency-based regular route mining algorithm is proposed, which is robust to slight disturbances in trajectory data. A feature of Fixed Stop Rate (FSR) is used to distinguish the different types of transport modes. Finally, based on the mined regular routes and transport modes, a grid-based route table is constructed for a quick ride matching. We evaluate our method using a large GPS dataset collected by 178 users over a period of four years. The experiment results demonstrate that the proposed method can effectively extract the regular routes and generate rideshare plan among users. This work may help ridesharing to become more efficient and convenient. © 2012 ACM.

The increasing integration of Cyber-Physical systems (CPS) in critical infrastructure presents unique challenges for ensuring robust cybersecurity. Traditional Intrusion Detection systems (IDS) often struggle with the dynamic, complex nature of CPS environments, making adaptive solutions essential. This paper presents an Adaptive Intrusion Detection system (AIDS) that leverages Reinforcement Learning-Based Autoencoders (RL-AE) to detect and respond to cyber intrusions in CPS environments. The proposed model combines the power of autoencoders for unsupervised anomaly detection with reinforcement learning to continuously adapt and improve detection accuracy. Experimental results on benchmark CPS datasets demonstrate that the RL-AE-based IDS achieves a detection accuracy of 98.3%, a precision rate of 96.8%, and a recall rate of 97.5%, effectively minimizing false positives to 2.4%. The system also demonstrated rapid adaptability, with a convergence time of less than 50 iterations in response to new attack patterns. These results highlight the model's ability to enhance system resilience and promote secure and efficient CPS operations in industrial and critical infrastructure applications. This approach provides a scalable and flexible IDS solution, promoting secure and resilient CPS operations in real-time, high-stakes environments. © 2024 IEEE.

Unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)-assisted mobile edge computing(MEC), as a way of coping with delaysensitive and computing-intensive tasks, is considered to be a key technology to solving the challenges of terrestrial MEC networks. In this work, we study the problem of collaborative service provisioning(CSP) for UAV-assisted MEC. Specifically, taking into account the task latency and other resource constraints, this paper investigates how to minimize the total energy consumption of all terrestrial user equipments, by jointly optimizing computing resource allocation, task offloading, UAV trajectory, and service placement. The CSP problem is a non-convex mixed integer nonlinear programming problem, owing to the complex coupling of mixed integral variables and non-convexity of CSP. To address the CSP problem, this paper proposes an alternating optimization-based solution with the convergence guarantee as follows. We iteratively deal with the joint service placement and task offloading subproblem, and UAV movement trajectory subproblem, by branch and bound and successive convex approximation, respectively,while the closed form of the optimal computation resource allocation can be efficiently obtained. Extensive simulations validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm compared to three baselines.

Speech compression is one area of digital signal processing that focuses on reducing the bit rate of the speech signal for transmission or storage without significant loss of quality. In recent years a new technique called wavelet transform has been proposed for signal analysis. It has been successfully used in image compression application. So far, less attention has been paid to the research in the speech compression using wavelet. This paper attempts to evaluate the wavelet compression technique on speech signals. Different wavelet filters were used to select the best filter suitable for speech signal in providing low bit rate and low computation complexity. Our implementation was evaluated based on PSNR, SNR, NRMSE and compression ratio tested on 8 kHz 8-bit speech signals. This algorithm was also compared to the following speech compression schemes: linear predictive coding (LPC) which reduces the transmitted data by factor of more than twelve, and global system mobile (GSM) which reduces the transmitted data by factor of five As a result from this study, wavelet speech compression gives higher SNR and better speech quality than the other techniques.

Privacy and security issues concerning mobile devices have substantial consequences for individuals, groups, governments, and businesses. The Android operating system bolsters smartphone data protection by imposing restrictions on app behavior. Nevertheless, attackers conduct systematic resource analyses and divert privacy-sensitive information from plain view. They employ evasive mechanisms to evade system monitoring and create an illusion of benign and non-sensitive communication. Furthermore, covert channels amplify the impact of these malicious activities by facilitating information transfer through non-standard methods. The purpose of this research is to shed light on these novel threats targeting Android systems. The study delves into security and privacy attacks that compromise sensitive user information. The methodology leverages evasion concepts and employs sound-specific covert channel communication, particularly ultrasonic channels. This research work introduces novel evasive attacks, namely Prime-Composite Evasive Information Invasion (PCEII) and File-lock-based Evasive Information Invasion (FEII), both relying on covert channel communication. These unique variants of attacks successfully evade user data within a few milliseconds for both noisy as well as non-noisy environments and do not show any signs of detection by antivirus mechanisms like Anti-Virus Guard (AVG), 360 security, etc. and state-of-the-art tools such as TaintDroid, MockDroid and others. The paper not only assesses their impact on the privacy and security of information but also introduces avenues for their detection and mitigation. © 2023 The Authors

A security authentication protocol based on number theory research unit (NTRU) for industrial control devices is proposed to address the security of data transmission in industrial control systems and the lack of resistance to attacks of security authentication protocols. Most of the original protocols contain complex encryption and decryption operations, which are difficult to run on industrial control devices with simple structures and cannot resist new types of network attacks. In this paper, the protocol takes advantage of the simple operation of NTRU public key encryption system and sets the authorization center to send only the public key of the device in a variant form to achieve the purpose of resisting new attacks such as quantum attacks and internal attacks, and the anti-attack capability is strengthened. © 2023 IEEE.
