Autonomous agriculture robot is one of the promising solutions for precision agriculture. This paper presents the proposed sensor and vision based agricultural robot for sowing seeds. This prototype can navigate it on any agricultural land and perform seed sowing operation simultaneously. The onboard sensors along with vision system and vision based approaches achieves the navigation and localization tasks. Self-awareness of the robot's position is determined by the global and local maps generated from Global Positioning system (GPS) and on-board vision system paired with a personal computer. This paper also presents the proposed sensor based precision seed metering and sowing mechanism. The proposed robot is a micro planter whose primary task would be to sow seeds at prefixed seeding intervals in the field. The dimensions of the proposed robot are 26.5 × 18.5 × 19.65 mm as L × B × H respectively. A suspension system has been used to maintain the stability of the vehicle and prevent it from toppling in motion. © 2017 IEEE.

This paper aims to facilitate the owner to control water pump machine from the vacuum, and the condition of the water is it full or not in house or apartment. The current control system still has many limitations in controlling the water pump machine at home or apartment. The water machine control system was designed with device that has a smart surveillance system that can be accessed with Android smartphone and all information from or to machine control system will command by using SMS, this device create a development of Arduino UNO microcontroller technology that allows the reading of the GSM Module and connected with SMS Gateway. Experiment results facilitate real-time water control and much easy for the owner to control water tank. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Starting of a medium or large induction motors generate such a large current during direct-on-line (DOL) starting process to the point that it can drop the voltage of power supply. The induction motor can be broken, its characteristics can be changed, and performances of the motor can be worsened. A significant higher starting current than the rated current can generate mechanical and thermal stress on the motor and the loads. High-voltage fluctuations, dips and sags can arise in electrical power systems associated with the motor. To overcome this problem, various starters were designed. There are several types of starters in which can be divided into conventional starters and power electronic drives. Conventional starters are such as direct-online, star-delta and autotransformer whereas the example for power electronics are matrix converter, frequency inverter and soft starter. In this paper, the design of autotransformer and soft starter are focused in order to compare inrush current during the start-up three phase medium sized industrial induction motor by using MATLAB/Simulink software. Both starters were targeted to resolve the problems inherent in the dynamic operation of induction motors, which included current and torque surges during the motor start up. The autotransformer gives the choice to consumer in selecting different tap values, in which is the advantage to consumer to vary their starting current and starting torque according to its application. On the other hand, the three-phase soft starter employs two anti-parallel connected switches in each phase. Thyristors act as the switches due to their higher power rating and high efficiency. Then, both methods will be compared to prove the best performance in mitigate high inrush current. The best of the two is likely to be the answer for mitigating the issue of high inrush starting current for a medium size motor at industries.

Paravirtualization manages virtual machines and virtual re- sources effciently by the communication between the virtu- alization layer and modified guest OSes. In a paravirtual environment, the I/O response of a virtual machine is hard to approach that of a native OS because a virtual I/O is asynchronously processed by the virtualization layer with- out hardware supports. Virtual CPU scheduling algorithms have been proposed to improve the I/O performance. How- ever, existing solutions lack the I/O fairness when virtual machines have various or skewed of workloads because they put the I/O performance of latency-sensitive vCPUs before vCPUs that are not. In this paper, we design a credit based vCPU scheduling model for I/O performance of virtual ma- chines by using a loan and repayment system. Credit rating of each virtual CPU is periodically evaluated by observing its resource consumption pattern and a virtual CPU cannot be allocated more resources until the repayment is finished. © 2017 Association for Computing Machinery.

Nowadays, messaging technology in digital data form more often used and not less messages that confidentially wanted. Then it should be modified so that can be understood only by the sender and the intended recipients. All of this system can be realization by using cryptography. LUC algorithms are introduced by Smith and Lennon in 1993. LUC algorithm is an algorithm that based on the use of Lucas sequence (specific arithmetic operations derived from Lucas row) that rarely used to enhance the security of the messages. In this research, LUC algorithm is combined with visual cryptography to process the encryption and the description of a colored image. Four different images were used in the trial here. The performance of the system is assessed using Structural similarity (SSIM) which has an assessment similar to human eye. If the image quality is the same as the original image, then the SSIM value is one. Whereas if the quality of decryption image is very different from the original image then the value of SSIM is zero. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Search engines have become an integral part of student learning activities. This study aims to see how the use of search engines by students, especially by students of the Library and Information Science Program, Faculty of communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran. This study uses the mixed method. The research data was obtained through questionnaires, in-depth interviews, observations and literature studies. The results of the study showed that in learning activities, the respondents used search engines to find the references for college assignments and thesis writing material. The students also use search engines to meet daily information needs, solve problems, increase knowledge, reduce doubts, clarify things, entertain, fulfill curiosity about others, etc. The retrieval technique used by students is by using keywords/queries, Boolean logic, query strategies in the form of a brief search and using the advanced search feature. This research is expected to contribute to the university in supporting online-based learning facilities for students. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In this paper,a cellular-connected unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)mobile edge computing system is studied where several UAVs are associated to a terrestrial base station(TBS)for computation *** compute the large amount of data bits,a part of computation task is migrated to TBS and the other part is locally handled at *** goal is to minimize the total energy consumption of all UAVs by jointly adjusting the bit allocation,power allocation,resource partitioning as well as UAV trajectory under TBS’s energy *** deeply comprehending the impact of multi-UAV access strategy on the system performance,four access schemes in the uplink transmission is considered,i.e.,time division multiple access,orthogonal frequency division multiple access,one-by-one access and non-orthogonal multiple *** involved problems under different access schemes are all formulated in non-convex forms,which are difficult to be tackled *** solve this class of problem,the successive convex approximation technique is employed to obtain the suboptimal *** numerical results show that the proposed scheme save significant energy consumption compared with the benchmark schemes.

Errors in data transmission cannot be known directly when the data transmission process is fulfilled, but error is often prevalent in data transmission. Faulty or missing frames or bits are standard errors and to control or check errors requires a unique method, in this case, the Stop-and-wait method, Go-Back-N and Selective Reject are methods that can be used to do so, comparison of time of error checking process with Stop-and-wait method, Go-Back-N and Selective Reject is very important to get the right method to check the ignorance, from testing performed that the method of Go-Back-N is much faster than the other methods. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In VLSI semi-custom design approach, power-optimal standard cell library selection for a given block design requires time-consuming iterative processes. This paper presents a framework to select a standard cell library that can result in near-optimal power while satisfying targeted frequency. The framework relies on neural network model to quickly predict the total power of a block design associated with a given standard cell library in order to speed up the synthesis process. The experimental result based on various synthesized benchmark circuits demonstrated the effectiveness of proposed framework for near-optimal standard cell library specification.
