Our perceptive in the scientific datasets has largely relied on numerical and statistical analysis of data from experimental dimension and computer simulation result. In particular, we consider a simulated 3D time-varying model of scientific datasets and examine the temporal correlation among datasets. Our goal is to devise effective visual representations to aid scientists especially biologists in identifying possible correlation associated among it. We proposed a hybrid scheme that used 3D glyphs for orientation, colour scale and codeword for depicting the time and opacity with highlight and de-highlight factors for collaborative events, if possible. Finally, we hope this tool will able to help scientists in their analysis works. © 2008 Springer-Verlag.

Application of a fuzzy C-mean algorithm for pulse waveform analysis in patients with myocardial ischemia

Previous noninvasive measurements of the pulse waveform of the radial artery have not employed standard positioning procedures. Here we propose a new three-axis mechanism for simultaneously measuring the arterial diameter changed waveform (ADCW) and the pressure pulse waveform (PPW), and a standard positioning procedure for detecting the optimal site in which the PPW may be accurately recorded. A modified fuzzy c-mean algorithm was used to diagnosis myocardial ischemia symptoms in 34 elderly subjects with the PPW of radial artery. The exercise electrocardiogram was used as a reference to compare between individuals with and without myocardial ischemia. The first three harmonics of the Fourier series of PPW in the patients with myocardial ischemia are significantly different from those in the normal subjects. The harmonics of the Fourier series of PPW are then fed into a modified fuzzy c-means algorithm, resulting in a sensitivity of 68% and specificity of 100% in identifying the patients with myocardial ischemia from the normal subjects.

This paper presents the effect of atmospheric attenuation during severe hazy days for free space optical communications. The usage of free space optical communications is still rare in Malaysia due to environment factor. The FSO technology is also known as unguided beam or dasiaoptical wirelesspsila or infrared broadband. This study offers quick preliminary investigation on possible FSO performance based on wavelength selection before final commissioning and installation at site. Thus, FSO installers could make quick judgment before giving recommendation of a suitable wavelength to the customers. Preliminary evaluation of system performance of system performance is done by using local weather data obtained from metrological department. Current study among designers and FSO users show that 1550 nm light produce less atmospheric attenuation in the transmission under all weather conditions. In this study, a suitable wavelength for FSO system is found for a particular site in low visibility. The best wavelength selection would result in optimized quality of FSO transmission in hazy conditions.

This paper proposes an agent-based simulation model to analyze how team management affects performances of the team with three fundamental parameters: team size, skill combination among team members and task structure. The results confirmed are as follows: first, communication cost increases when the team size grows, and team-workers benefit from a right team size to obtain higher productivity;second, each team member has more chances to receive tasks that he/she is good at and then strengthen this skill ability by accumulative experience;third, a team shows more efficiency and robustness under a task environment where both workload and sub-task variety get to a balanceable distribution in a long term.

The patients of cardiovascular diseases is being on the rise due to the environmental changes and other several causes so that the death toll due to the diseases belongs to the big 3 causes of adults death in Korea. To be helpful to the prevention of the heart diseases, we hope to diagnose the cardiovascular diseases via the web applying the examination by the eye among the diagnostic skills of oriental medicine to the preventive activities with IT technology. In this article, we will propose the methodology that conduct the color compensation of the face image capture and extract the facial region and then extract the five sensory organs including the nose area in the whole target system. Since the colors of the libs and the center part of the forehead are the critical factors to diagnose heart diseases, we will discuss how to extract these areas automatically and to extract the colors of these in this article.

Wireless networks are on the cutting edge of modern technology and rapidly gaining popularity in todaypsilas world due to their excellent usability. For secure wireless data transmission, Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP), IEEE 802.11 standard defined security protocol, is employed. WEP has a potential limitation that stems from its adaptation of RC4 stream cipher algorithm. As a result, there is a pressing need for new WLAN security measure. Therefore, this paper presents hardware implementation of RC4A stream cipher and proposes to replace RC4 in WLAN security scheme, due to weakness of *** design of the cipher was implemented by Verilog HDL. For hardware implementation of the design, an Altera Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) device, EP20K200EFC484-2X from APEX family, APEX 20KE, was used.

Scientists has largely understand the structure of glass and the ion trajectories has largely relied on statistical analysis of data collected from experimental measurement and computer simulation. Invariably, the details of the structure-transport relationships in the data have been ignored in favor of ensemble average. In this works, we present a visual study of such relationships using surface-based visualization techniques. In particular, we consider a simulated three-dimensional (3D) time-varying model of ion trajectories, and examine the spatio-temporal collaborative among mobile ions. Our goal is to devise effective visual representations to aid scientists especially biologists in identifying possible collaborative behaviors and their spatial and temporal association among complex and seemingly chaotic atom movements in ion trajectories. We propose a hybrid scheme that used 3D glyphs for orientation, color scale and codeword for depicting the time and opacity with highlight and de-highlight factors for collaborative ion dynamic events.

Image segmentation is a key process in computer vision and image process applications. Accurate segmentation of medical images is very essential in medical applications but it is very difficult job due to noise and in homogeneity that are usual of medical images. In this paper a new method, based on FCM, is proposed to make FCM more robust against noise. Multi-scale images are obtained by smoothing input image in different scales. FCM is applied to multi-scale images from high scale to low scale. First FCM is applied to image with highest scale. Then in each scale, cluster centers of previous scale are used to initialization membership for current scale. Moreover, in FCM, neighborhood attraction is used to more decrease effect of noise in clustering. Experimental result shows effectiveness of new method.

Image segmentation is a critical stage in many computer vision and image process applications. Accurate segmentation of medical images is very essential in Medical applications but it is very difficult job due to noise and in homogeneity. Fuzzy C-Mean (FCM) is one of the most popular Medical image clustering methods. We noticed that for some images, FCM is sensitive to initialization of centre of clusters. This article introduced a new method based on the combination of genetic algorithm and FCM to solve this problem. The genetic algorithm is used to find initialized centre of the clusters. In this method, the centre is obtained by minimizing an object Function. This object Function specifies sum of distances between each data and their cluster centres. Then FCM is applied with to the case. The experimental result demonstrates the effectiveness of new method by able to initialize centre of the clusters.
