The purpose of this study is to apply a free-space optical interconnection to a reconfigurable board-to-board connection where the wiring patterns connecting boards are optically formed without electrical-optical conversion. We regard a photorefractive bi-directional connection module (PBCM) based on a mutually pumped phase conjugate mirror as a key device to construct such a connection network and employ PBCMs at input/output interfaces of each board. Although optical behaviors of PBCM are influenced by the exposure conditions, we especially focus on the diameter of beams illuminating photorefractive media placed inside PBCM so as to find some geometrical restrictions hi a design of networking system. Through numerical analyses, we show a sample configuration of PBCM for the board-to-board interconnection and present a conceptual design of input/output interface.

This paper proposes the improved indoor human detection algorithm from data provided by W-Band FMCW radar by using k-mean technique. The data provided by the radar contain both humans and nun-human objects. To identify non-human objects, the obtained data are filtered by the velocity and RCS of the detected objects. The K-means algorithm is applied to the filtered dataset to estimate the positions of humans. The estimated positions of humans are much closed to the actual ones. © 2021 IEEE.

The Internet of Things(IoT)is a modern approach that enables connection with a wide variety of devices *** to the resource constraints and open nature of IoT nodes,the routing protocol for low power and lossy(RPL)networks may be vulnerable to several routing ***’s why a network intrusion detection system(NIDS)is needed to guard against routing assaults on RPL-based IoT *** imbalance between the false and valid attacks in the training set degrades the performance of machine learning employed to detect network ***,we propose in this paper a novel approach to balance the dataset classes based on metaheuristic optimization applied to locality-sensitive hashing and synthetic minority oversampling technique(LSH-SMOTE).The proposed optimization approach is based on a new hybrid between the grey wolf and dipper throated optimization *** prove the effectiveness of the proposed approach,a set of experiments were conducted to evaluate the performance of NIDS for three cases,namely,detection without dataset balancing,detection with SMOTE balancing,and detection with the proposed optimized LSHSOMTE *** results showed that the proposed approach outperforms the other approaches and could boost the detection *** addition,a statistical analysis is performed to study the significance and stability of the proposed *** conducted experiments include seven different types of attack cases in the RPL-NIDS17 *** on the 2696 CMC,2023,vol.74,no.2 proposed approach,the achieved accuracy is(98.1%),sensitivity is(97.8%),and specificity is(98.8%).

Several instances of pneumonia with no clear etiology were recorded in Wuhan,China,on December 31,*** world health organization(WHO)called it COVID-19 that stands for“Coronavirus Disease 2019,”which is the second version of the previously known severe acute respiratory syndrome(SARS)Coronavirus and identified in short as(SARSCoV-2).There have been regular restrictions to avoid the infection spread in all countries,including Saudi *** prediction of new cases of infections is crucial for authorities to get ready for early handling of the virus ***:Analysis and forecasting of epidemic patterns in new SARSCoV-2 positive patients are presented in this research using metaheuristic optimization and long short-term memory(LSTM).The optimization method employed for optimizing the parameters of LSTM is Al-Biruni Earth Radius(BER)***:To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology,a dataset is collected based on the recorded cases in Saudi Arabia between March 7^(th),2020 and July 13^(th),*** addition,six regression models were included in the conducted experiments to show the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed *** achieved results show that the proposed approach could reduce the mean square error(MSE),mean absolute error(MAE),and R^(2)by 5.92%,3.66%,and 39.44%,respectively,when compared with the six base *** the other hand,a statistical analysis is performed to measure the significance of the proposed ***:The achieved results confirm the effectiveness,superiority,and significance of the proposed approach in predicting the infection cases of COVID-19.

This paper aims to develop a sensor based monitoring and analyzing system for Neuro-Degenerative Disorder patients (NDD);this may consist on SpO2 sensor, Electrophysiological sensors, NIBP, Motion Capture sensors and Eye Monitoring sensor, taking into consideration an acceptable cost for the whole system. Recorded data will be sent to an embedded decision making unit where detection, analysis, classification, prediction and action control will occur. The sensors and the decision making unit will be implemented in a comfortable jacket that doesn't affect the patients' movements and that can be used by several patients with reduced sensor placement alterations. The decision that can be made is creating a stimulus to avoid falling in case of sudden stop while moving, initiating an alarm, sending a notification to a mobile phone application, and/or telemedicine monitoring features. Artificial Neural Networks will be used to classify and predict the abnormal cases where action should be taken, and since the sensors will be continuously recording, it is possible to achieve continuous learning for the ANN as a first phase. Initial models will be defined by testing normal behaviors and some known abnormal behaviors or symptoms related to the electrical activity and other characteristics of the heart, oxygen saturation level, eye activity and body motion. © 2016 IEEE.

Hybrid S- to L-band fiber amplifier module with coupled structure

A new S- to L-band EDFA module with coupled structure that reaches a 120-nm gain bandwidth of 1480 to 1600 nm is experimentally investigated. Peak gains of 32.7, 34.5, and 32.9 dB are obtained at 1504, 1534, and 1570 nm with -30 dBm input signal power, respectively. Furthermore, the amplifier provides a broadband ASE light source of 1480 to 1606 nm as the output levels are above -40 dBm.

The non-idealities of full-duplex devices of the transceiver chain is not well known despite of the intensive recent research on wireless single-channel full-duplex communications. However, in spite of the use of efficient analog and digital cancellation and suitable physical antenna isolation they turn out to be among main practical reasons for observing residual self-interference. In this paper the implementation and simulation of RF transceiver Duplex Filter and noise isolation improvement using Matlab/SIMULINK environment is done, as well as quantifying the dynamic range of required signal and the reduction of these IF-interference due to the analog-to-digital interface. The Transfer Function calculation results are provided by the help of a White Noise Source and Simulation results of frequency response in the Tx and Rx channels. The simulation and measurement results comparison for new duplexer and the marks and values of frequency response at the critical frequency points have improved isolation due to the effect of optimized external inductor. It has been observed in a full-duplex transceiver that the transmitter power amplifier (PA) produces a nonlinear distortion that is considered to be a significant issue. © 2020 IEEE.

Network management and multimedia data mining techniques have a great interest in analyzing and improving the network traffic *** recent times,the most complex task in Software Defined Network(SDN)is security,which is based on a centralized,programmable ***,monitoring network traffic is significant for identifying and revealing intrusion abnormalities in the SDN ***,this paper provides an extensive analysis and investigation of the NSL-KDD dataset using five different clustering algorithms:K-means,Farthest First,Canopy,Density-based algorithm,and Exception-maximization(EM),using the Waikato Environment for Knowledge Analysis(WEKA)software to compare extensively between these five ***,this paper presents an SDN-based intrusion detection system using a deep learning(DL)model with the KDD(Knowledge Discovery in Databases)***,the utilized dataset is clustered into normal and four major attack categories via the clustering ***,a deep learning method is projected for building an efficient SDN-based intrusion detection *** results provide a comprehensive analysis and a flawless reasonable study of different kinds of attacks incorporated in the KDD ***,the outcomes reveal that the proposed deep learning method provides efficient intrusion detection performance compared to existing *** example,the proposed method achieves a detection accuracy of 94.21%for the examined dataset.

Brain-inspired photonic neural networks for artificial intelligence have attracted renewed interest. For many computational tasks, such as image recognition, speech processing and deep learning, photonic neural networks have the potential to increase the computing speed and energy efficiency on the orders of magnitude compared with digital electronics. Silicon Photonics, which combines the advantages of electronics and photonics, brings hope for the large-scale photonic neural network integration. This paper walks through the basic concept of artificial neural networks and focuses on the key devices which construct the silicon photonic neuromorphic systems. We review some recent important progress in silicon photonic neural networks, which include multilayer artificial neural networks and brain-like neuromorphic systems, for artificial intelligence. A prototype of silicon photonic artificial intelligence processor for ultra-fast neural network computing is also proposed. We hope this paper gives a detailed overview and a deeper understanding of this emerging field.

Cooperative relaying introduces spatial diversity through the creation of a virtual antenna array. The vast majority of the research in digital cooperative relaying assumes the modulation level used by both the source and relay to be the same. This assumption does not necessarily hold when adaptive modulation is implemented. In conventional selection combining, the branch with the highest SNR is chosen;we refer to this scheme as SNRbased selection combining (SNR-SC). In this paper, we introduce BER-based selection combining (BER-SC), as an alternative to SNR-SC, to be used in cooperative communications when a relay may use a modulation level different than that of the source. We provide BER performance analysis for the SNR-SC and BER-SC schemes and show that BER-SC significantly outperforms SNRSC, without any increase in complexity. Moreover, we analytically quantify the gain achieved by using BER-SC over SNR-SC through asymptotic approximation. We note that BER-SC and SNR-SC schemes are identical when the received signals belong to the same modulation level. © 2009 IEEE.
