This study addresses gastrointestinal cancer radiation therapy challenges by implementing advanced deep learning techniques. We focus on automating manual segmentation tasks during treatment planning to enhance efficiency and patient tolerance. Our methodology uses a diverse 3D MRI scan dataset to employ image analysis, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), and Image Segmentation. The primary architectural choices involve the U-Net and InceptionResNetv2 models, contributing to developing a predictive segmentation model. This substantial result underscores the effectiveness of our approach in achieving accurate segmentations in the clinical setting. The overarching objective of our project is to automate the segmentation of the stomach and intestines in MRI scans, thereby streamlining radiation therapy planning for improved efficiency and patient care. In our evaluations, the implemented model demonstrates a commendable dice coefficient of 0.7, as indicated by metrics such as dice loss. Anticipated outcomes encompass reduced treatment times, enhanced patient comfort, and optimised tumour radiation doses while minimising healthy tissue exposure. The successful implementation of this advanced model holds the potential to revolutionise current radiation therapy practices, significantly elevating cancer treatment outcomes. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

The increasing popularity of Graph-based neural network architectures plays a pivotal role in providing promising results in applications, viz., Friendship networks, Co-authorship networks, Product recommendations, etc. Many machine learning tasks can be addressed when dealing with graph representation, i.e., graph classification, node classification, link prediction, graph embedding, etc. The traditional rule-based methods have many drawbacks in comparison to graph representation learning, such as it requires manual feature engineering and struggles with unseen cases (generalizability), etc., in the case of rule-based methods. At the same time, graph representation learning overcomes those issues profoundly. The advent of graph-based deep neural network architectures inspired us to complete a graph classification problem to explore clusters of researchers who worked together in academic publications. We built the model by using a graph convolutional network to solve a multi-classification problem. We conducted a comparative study to check the efficacy of graph representation learning by GCNs on the DBLP dataset. Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) is a fast-growing blood cancer that requires prompt diagnosis for effective treatment. Automated image diagnostics offer potential solutions but often lack clinical robustness. Despite their widespread use in medical imaging, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) struggle to differentiate morphologically similar ALL subtypes due to limited context and feature discrimination. Moreover, integrating contrastive self-supervised learning with hierarchical attention-based models remains underexplored in hematologic malignancy classification. This study aims to develop a robust, automated classification model for ALL subtypes using peripheral blood smear images, employing advanced feature extraction through the Swin Transformer framework, combined with Momentum Contrast (MoCo) for contrastive learning and a Bidirectional Encoder Transformer for classification. The Swin Transformer’s patch-based embedding and multi-level attention enhance feature discrimination across ALL subtypes, while MoCo generates distinct embeddings, minimizing overlap between cell types. BiET is employed to classify the refined feature vectors, leveraging self-attention mechanisms to improve classification accuracy. The model achieved an overall classification accuracy of 92.5%, with the precision of 90.3%, a recall of 91.1%, and an F1-score of 90.7% across four classes (Benign, Malignant Early Pre-B, Malignant Pre-B, and Malignant Pro-B). Class-specific performance metrics indicate that Malignant Pre-B achieved the highest F1-score of 92.4%. The MoCo framework reduced contrastive loss from 0.5 to 0.097 for benign cells, enhancing feature discrimination. An ablation study revealed that omitting the dynamic queue decreased accuracy by 5%, underscoring its importance for effective feature learning. The use of IoT technology enables real-time monitoring and alerts, allowing hospital staff to respond immediately to any issues. Deep Networks as Denoising Algorithms: Sample-Efficient Learning of Diffusion Models in High-Dimensional Graphical Models

We investigate the efficiency of deep neural networks for approximating scoring functions in diffusion-based generative modeling. While existing approximation theories leverage the smoothness of score functions, they suffer from the curse of dimensionality for intrinsically high-dimensional data. This limitation is pronounced in graphical models such as Markov random fields, where the approximation efficiency of score functions remains unestablished. To address this, we note score functions can often be well-approximated in graphical models through variational inference denoising algorithms. Furthermore, these algorithms can be efficiently represented by neural networks. We demonstrate this through examples, including Ising models, conditional Ising models, restricted Boltzmann machines, and sparse encoding models. Combined with off-the-shelf discretization error bounds for diffusion-based sampling, we provide an efficient sample complexity bound for diffusion-based generative modeling when the score function is learned by deep neural networks. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Chronic diseases like chronic respiratory diseases, diabetes, heart disease (HD) and cancer are the important causes of mortality globally. The diagnosis of Heart-related diseases with a variety of symptoms or characteristics is incredibly complex. Internet of Things (loT) embedded solution has improved with the increase in smart wearable devices. However, people who undergo heart attacks unexpectedly have poor survival rates. As a result, an Internet of Things based Multi-Perceptron Q-Network (MQN)-based monitoring program is suggested for cardiac patients to assist in identifying heart disease and administering medication appropriately. The technology based on MQN is used to securely encrypt this sensor data before sending it to the cloud. The encrypted and decrypted data is eventually done and MQN classifier is used to complete the classification process. The two categories of data that make up the classified outcomes are i) regular and ii) irregular. It indicates the individual's cardiac status, and if the results are peculiar, the doctor is notified via text so that the patient can receive treatment. When compared to current algorithms, the MQN for HD diagnosis exhibits better enhancement in the estimated investigational results. Furthermore, when contrasted against the current MQN, the introduced Multi-layered Perceptron (MLP) system facilitates safe data transmission yields the maximum security level of 96%, and is accomplished in the shortest amount of time for both decryption and encryption. © 2025 IEEE.

Effective monitoring of the environment over a large area will require mobilization of a considerable amount of information. Otherwise, the use of traditional methods will prove to be costly and would take up so much time. Also, assessing the land cover changes between two times is one of the other methods which can be adopted to measure the environmental sustainability. Using ML techniques for predictive modeling in remote sensing has emerged as a useful approach in solving some of the environmental and climatic challenges. This research proposes a novel method in remote sensing image-based climate detection utilizing cloud computing and machine learning algorithms. Here, the cloud computing module is used in the collection of remote sensing images for the detection of climate changes. Then, the collected image is processed for noise removal as well as normalization. The processed image is segmented, and features are extracted utilizing a fuzzy K-clustering-based contour Gaussian model with graph cut Boltzmann CNN. Experimental analysis is carried out for various remote sensing-based climate change datasets in terms of training accuracy, random precision, AUC, recall, and F-measure. The proposed technique obtained 97% of training accuracy, 95% of random precision, 96% of recall, 93% of AUC, and 94% of F-measure. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Psychological Impact of Internet Blackouts: A Case Study With Machine Learning-Based Stress Analysis

Access to the internet has become a vital part of modern life, especially for communication and essential services. However, during politically sensitive times, internet blackouts can disrupt daily routines, leading to significant psychological impacts. This study explores the mental health effects of the internet shutdown imposed during the Bangladesh Quota Movement in July 2024, when the government cut off access to control information flow. The blackout hindered communication, financial transactions, and critical services, amplifying stress, feelings of isolation, and emotional distress. A survey of 2,085 participants was conducted to assess the behavioral, emotional, and psychological consequences, particularly in academic, work, and social settings. Stress levels among respondents varied from minimal to extreme, reflecting widespread mental distress. To classify these stress levels, machine learning models;Decision Tree (DT), Random Forest (RF), Bernoulli Naive Bayes (BNB), Logistic Regression (LR), eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost), and Support Vector Machine (SVM) were applied. The SVM model outperformed others, achieving high precision (99.33%), recall (99.00%), F1-score (99.33%), and accuracy (99.49%). This study underscores the urgent need for mental health support during such crises, particularly in low- and middle-income countries like Bangladesh, where mental health care is often neglected. These findings are aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 3), "Good Health and Well-Being," stressing the importance of mental health interventions in fostering resilience, well-being, and social stability during crises. © 2013 IEEE.

A Robust Indoor Vehicle Localization Strategy based on UWB and INS

High-precision indoor vehicle localization technology has recently been a research hotspot for indoor location services. This paper investigate the indoor combined positioning technology based on Ultra wide band (UWB) and inertial navigation system(INS), aiming to overcome the limitations of UWB in non-line of sight (NLOS) environment and cumulative errors of INS. For dealing with NLOS errors conveniently, we propose a two-layer NLOS error weakening method. Firstly, k-mediods clustering method is used to preprocess the obtained distance measurements, and some of the measurements containing NLOS errors are replaced with the measurements undisturbed by NLOS transmission. The processed result is processed again with gray Kalman filter, which reduces the process noise and NLOS error. A hybrid Gaussian fitting approach is suggested to determine the propagation conditions and simulate the likelihood of propagation through the residual after calculating the difference between the distance that was filtered and the distance that was measured. The two-sided correction technique changed the findings of the fitting method and the improved particle swarm optimization method. The adaptive Kalman filter was then used to combine the INS and UWB location results to get the final location data. Simulation and experimental results show that the proposed algorithm owns higher localization accuracy and dependability. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

Model-based framework for exploiting sensors of IoT devices using a botnet: a case study with android

Botnets have become a severe security threat not only to the Internet but also to the devices connected to it. Factors like the exponential growth of IoT, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the ever-larger number of cybercriminals are incentivising the growth of botnets in this domain. The recent outbreak of botnets like Dark Nexus (derived from Qbot and Mirai), Mukashi, LeetHozer, Hoaxcalls, etc. shows the alarming rate at which this threat is converging. The botnets have attributes that make them an excellent platform for malicious activities in IoT devices used by organisations to safeguard the personal and confidential data of their customers, employees, and business partners. The IoT devices have built-in sensors or actuators that can be exploited to monitor or control the physical environment of the entities connected to them, thereby violating the fundamental concept of privacy-by-design of these devices. In this paper, we design and describe a modular botnet framework for IoT. The framework uses an enhanced centralised architecture associated with a novel ‘Domain Fluxing Technique’. The proposed framework will provide insights into how privacy in IoT devices can be incorporated at design time to check the sensors and actuators in these devices against malicious exploitation, consequently preserving privacy. © 2024 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.
