This study investigates the potential of using generic, hybrid, and personalized neural network models for glucose prediction in individuals with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). data from 194 participants in the Wireless Innovations for Seniors with Diabetes Mellitus (WISDM) study, totaling over 46 million minutes of Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM), were used to develop and evaluate the models. A baseline reference model, Last Observation Carried Forward (LOCF), was also included for comparison. Models were trained using data from 70% of the participants and tested on the remaining 30%, with prediction horizons (PH) set at 30 and 60 minutes. At the 30-minute PH, the generic model achieved a Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 19.6 mg/dL and a Mean Absolute Relative Difference (MARD) of 9.2%. These results were slightly worse than those of the hybrid and personalized models, which yielded RMSEs of 19.4 mg/dL and 19.5 mg/dL, respectively, and MARDs of 9.6% for both. However, the differences were not statistically significant. At the 60-minute PH, the generic model showed the best performance, with an RMSE of 34.9 mg/dL and MARD of 16.2%. The hybrid and personalized models exhibited slightly higher RMSEs (35.3 mg/dL and 35.5 mg/dL, respectively) and MARDs (17.8% and 18.1%, respectively). These findings suggest that both generic and individualized models can provide satisfactory glucose forecasting results based solely on CGM data. Nonetheless, the potential benefits of individualized approaches deserve further investigation, particularly when substantial training data are available. © 2024 IEEE.

The graph convolution network (GCN), whose flexible convolution kernels perfectly adapt to the complex topology of the road network, has gradually dominated the spatiotemporal dependency learning of traffic flow data. Defining and learning the spatiotemporal characteristics and relationships of the traffic network efficiently and accurately, which are the important prerequisites for the success of the GCN, have become one of the most burning research problems in the field of intelligent transportation systems. This paper proposes a fast spatiotemporal learning (FSTL) framework containing the fast spatiotemporal GCN module, which reduces the computational complexity of the spatiotemporal GCN from O(k2} to O(k) , where k is the number of time steps of data learned in each GCN operation. To mine globally and fast the correlations of road node pairs, a correlation analysis based on the normal distribution with the complexity of O(N)}, where N is the number of nodes in the traffic network, is proposed to construct the global correlation matrix. Besides, the multi-scale temporal learning is integrated into the FSTL to overcome the receptive field constraints of the spatiotemporal GCN. The experimental results on four real-world datasets demonstrate that the FSTL achieves 48.88% and 5.26% reductions in the training time and mean absolute error, respectively, compared with the state-of-the-art model. © 2000-2011 IEEE.

Rice is the most widely grown crop in Asia. In Asia, 60% of the population relies on rice, China, Indonesia especially India consumes the majority of it. Food is the single most direct way for an individual to become infected with any ailment. Predicting the quality of rice is a crucial aspect as it is one of the most consumed foods in Asia. In this study, the quality of the rice is predicted using a Deep Learning (DL) model to predict the quality more precisely. The dataset required for this study is collected from the Kaggle website composed of a total of 5000 images of 5 different rice varieties. The collected raw dataset is then pre-processed using several methods to make them compatible with the DL model. The pre-proceed images are then subjected to the prediction of the quality of the rice using the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), a DL model. Performance metrics such as accuracy, loss, and time are calculated to validate the precision of the model. The experimental result showed that the model has the highest accuracy of about 98.6% when compared to the other existing models. The model demonstrated a very minimal loss percentage of only about 1.24% and the model predicts the result in about 25 microseconds. The proposed DL model can be utilized for better and more objectively evaluate the quality of the rice at trading points inside the rice marketing chain due to its fairly high precision. © 2023 IEEE.

In addition to traditional approaches, several computerized techniques have been developed to enhance the results. The automation in the medical domain considerably reduced the burden and improved disease diagnosis, treatment planning, and implementation. With the advent of automation, the medical domain has greatly reduced the burden of diagnosing diseases, developing treatment plans, and implementing them. This research aims to develop image-processing assisted detection of Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DF) from digital photographs. Digital photographs are used to assist in diagnosing Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DF). As part of the developed tool, (i) images are collected and resized, (ii) Otsu/Kapur and Hummingbird-optimizer thresholding is supported, (iii) level-set segmentation is used to extract the DF region, and (iv) the developed scheme is compared with the binary mask and its performance is verified. A total of 300 images are examined in this work, and MATLAB software is used to conduct the experiments. Comparing Otsu + LS with Kapur + LS, the overall result achieved with Kapur’s enhanced image is better than that of Otsu + LS. Large Multimodal Models (LMMs) have achieved strong performance across a range of vision and language tasks. However, their spatial reasoning capabilities are under-investigated. In this paper, we construct a novel VQA dataset, Spatial-MM, to comprehensively study LMMs' spatial understanding and reasoning capabilities. Our analyses on object-relationship and multi-hop reasoning reveal several important findings. Firstly, bounding boxes and scene graphs, even synthetic ones, can significantly enhance LMMs' spatial reasoning. Secondly, LMMs struggle more with questions posed from the human perspective than the camera perspective about the image. Thirdly, chain of thought (CoT) prompting does not improve model performance on complex multi-hop questions involving spatial relations. Lastly, our perturbation analysis on GQA-spatial reveals that LMMs are much stronger at basic object detection than complex spatial reasoning. We believe our new benchmark dataset and in-depth analyses can spark further research on LMMs spatial reasoning. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.

Global food security is seriously threatened by plant diseases and can cause severe economic losses to farmers. Automated detection of plant diseases using computer vision and machine learning techniques has become a popular research area due to its potential to provide faster and more accurate results than traditional methods. In this research, we propose a plant disease detection model based on transfer learning using the MobileNetV2. We evaluate the suggested method on a dataset consisting of 38 various kinds of diseases across 14 different plants. Our experimental findings indicate that the proposed method has a typical accuracy of 91.98% and outperforms additional cutting-edge CNN models for plant disease detection. The experimental findings support the suggested approach's validity and show that it effectively detects plant diseases. We also have put forth the evaluation metrics to investigate the model. The suggested method has potential applications in real-world scenarios and can help farmers detect diseases in their crops at an early stage, allowing them to take timely action to minimize crop losses. © 2024 The Authors. As 5G networks rapidly expand to support higher data rates, lower latency, and increased device density, the associated security risks are also growing. That is why the deployment of 5G networks introduces significant challenges in balancing Quality of Service (QoS) and security, especially in dynamic, high-demand environments. This paper presents a framework leveraging deep reinforcement learning (DRL) to optimize this tradeoff based on our generated QoS_5G_Sec dataset. We evaluated various DRL agents, including Deep Q-Network (DQN), Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO), and Advantage Actor-Critic (A2C), focusing on their ability to manage network parameters in real-time. Among the tested methods, the DQN model tuned using the Optuna hyperparameter optimization technique demonstrated the best overall performance. Our results show that this approach provides a robust solution for dynamically adjusting network parameters, improving both QoS and security in 5G network architectures. © 2024 IEEE.

This study demonstrates the utilization of Machine Learning (ML) for network slice prediction, enabling the optimization of resources for diverse network slices. Traditional methods for network slice prediction often lack efficiency and result in inaccuracies. By leveraging ML algorithms such as Naive Bayes and Random Forest, an intelligent framework that automates network slice prediction is developed. This framework enhances network virtualization and management, facilitating resource allocation. The ML algorithms take real-time network conditions and usages, such as packet delay and smart city, as input and output for selecting the most suitable network slice. data analysis is further conducted to reveal the connections between the input parameters and how these parameters influence the selection of the accurate network slice. Network slicing plays a crucial role as it enables the customization of services and facilitates efficient scaling to meet the specific needs of different applications and industries. The accuracy scores of the employed ML algorithms were generally perfect, except for the KNN and SVM classifiers, which achieved an accuracy of 94.30% and 92.16%, respectively, for the prediction of network slices based on incoming network connections and usages. © 2024 IEEE.

In this work, a quantum web-based health analytics system has been proposed. The system uses a neuro-fuzzy algorithm which uses a selective rule-based strategy to process datasets. When a query is being raised, the datasets required are identified and processed to formulate inference for a knowledge repository. The knowledge repository is decentralized and ensures authentic access for a particular query. The quantum block chain algorithm reduces processing time and memory consumed by 24 and 28%, compared to the conventional block chain approach. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
