Background: The sustainable development goals (SDGs) aim to end HIV/AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. Understanding the current state of the HIV epidemic and its change over time is essential to this effort. This study assesses the current sex-specific HIV burden in 204 countries and territories and measures progress in the control of the epidemic. Methods: To estimate age-specific and sex-specific trends in 48 of 204 countries, we extended the Estimation and Projection Package Age-Sex Model to also implement the spectrum paediatric model. We used this model in cases where age and sex specific HIV-seroprevalence surveys and antenatal care-clinic sentinel surveillance data were available. For the remaining 156 of 204 locations, we developed a cohort-incidence bias adjustment to derive incidence as a function of cause-of-death data from vital registration systems. The incidence was input to a custom Spectrum model. To assess progress, we measured the percentage change in incident cases and deaths between 2010 and 2019 (threshold >75% decline), the ratio of incident cases to number of people living with HIV (incidence-to-prevalence ratio threshold <0·03), and the ratio of incident cases to deaths (incidence-to-mortality ratio threshold <1·0). Findings: In 2019, there were 36·8 million (95% uncertainty interval [UI] 35·1–38·9) people living with HIV worldwide. There were 0·84 males (95% UI 0·78–0·91) per female living with HIV in 2019, 0·99 male infections (0·91–1·10) for every female infection, and 1·02 male deaths (0·95–1·10) per female death. Global progress in incident cases and deaths between 2010 and 2019 was driven by sub-Saharan Africa (with a 28·52% decrease in incident cases, 95% UI 19·58–35·43, and a 39·66% decrease in deaths, 36·49–42·36). Elsewhere, the incidence remained stable or increased, whereas deaths generally decreased. This paper investigates the problem of estimating sparse channels in massive MIMO systems. Most wireless channels are sparse with large delay spread, while some channels can be observed having sparse common support (SCS) within a certain area of the antenna array, i.e., the antenna array can be grouped into several clusters according to the sparse supports of channels. The SCS property is attractive when it comes to the estimation of large number of channels in massive MIMO systems. Using the SCS of channels, one expects better performance, but the number of clusters and the elements for each cluster are always unknown in the receiver. In this paper, the Dirichlet process is exploited to model such sparse channels where those in each cluster have SCS. We proposed a low complexity message passing based sparse Bayesian learning to perform channel estimation in massive MIMO systems by using combined BP with MF on a factor graph. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed massive MIMO sparse channel estimation outperforms the state-of-the-art algorithms. Especially, it even shows better performance than the variational Bayesian method applied for massive MIMO channel estimation. Copyright © 2017, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this paper, we propose a new combined message passing algorithm which allows belief propagation (BP) and mean filed (MF) applied on a same factor node, so that MF can be applied to hard constraint factors. Based on the proposed message passing algorithm, a iterative receiver is designed for MIMO-OFDM systems. Both BP and MF are exploited to deal with the hard constraint factor nodes involving the multiplication of channel coefficients and data symbols to reduce the complexity of the only BP used. The numerical results show that the BER performance of the proposed low complexity receiver closely approach that of the state-of-the-art receiver, where only BP is used to handled the hard constraint factors, in the high SNRs. Smart grids (SGs), which can fully detect and monitor electrical parameters and user behaviours, have become a development trend of power networks. With larger scale and access of new energy, SGs become more vulnerable and unstable. Under this circumstance, unexpected line outages may cause more harm in SGs than in traditional power grids. Thus, accurate and fast localization of line outages is one of the major tasks and challenges in SGs. By exploiting the sparsity of line outages and phase information from phase measurement units (PMUs), compressive sensing (CS) has been introduced into line outage detection recently. In this paper, we propose a novel block-wise CS based multiple line outage detection scheme for SGs. First, by utilizing the sparsity of line outages and connection relation of the power grid, a new reactance model is derived, making the block-wise CS applicable. Then, we modify the traditional CS algorithm by redefining the selection criterion. The proposed scheme can achieve better precision as well as less complexity compared to the conventional schemes.

The visible light communication (VLC) technology is able to provide indoor users with high quality of service and low cost. However, the performance of the VLC is limited in shaded or strong sun-light areas. In this paper, we combine the VLC network with Device-to-Device (D2D) technology. We consider that some mobile users accessible to the VLC network is able to relay the transmitted data to the nearby mobile users. We suppose all the mobile users as relays (MUaRs), cellular service provider (CSP) and VLC service provider (VLCSP) are autonomous individuals, and propose a hierarchical game to analyze the optimal strategies for each of them. In the game, the VLCSP determines the data transmission route and data packet size first. Based on the behaviors of the VLCSP, the CSP determines the prices of wireless licensed spectrum. According to the behaviors of the VLCSP, the CSP and the MUaRs in the neighborhood, all MUaRs determines their transmission data rates for optimal utility. Therefore, there is a graphical game among all MUaRs. When all MUaRs consider the corresponding reactions of other MUaRs in the neighborhood and achieve Nash Equilibrium, the Stackelberg Equilibriums can be achieved in the Stackelberg games between the VLCSP and the CSP, between the CSP and all MUaRs and between the VLCSP and all MUaRs. Simulation results show the correctness of the analysis and the VLC network with multi-hop D2D relay is able to bring high profits for the CSP.

As a promising technique, cooperative relaying has attracted more and more attention from academia and industry recently. In this paper, we investigate the scheme of Decode-and-Forward Two-way Relaying (DF-TWR) relying on a cross-layer design, which combines adaptive Network-coded Modulation (NCM) at the physical layer and truncated Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ) at the data link layer. The relay node utilizes Network-Coded Quadrature amplitude modulation (NC-QAM) where NCM imposes only a modest signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) degradation on the single-link QAM performance. Additionally, we derive the achievable spectral efficiency in closed-form for transmission over Rayleigh fading channels. It is shown that this combination of adaptive NC-QAM and truncated ARQ substantially improves the system's throughput compared to the schemes operating without ARQ.

Moving target defense is a revolutionary technology to change the pattern of attack and defense, and end-point information mutation is one of the hotspots belonging to this field. In order to counterpoise the defense benefit of end-point information mutation and service quality of network system, the self-adaptive end-point mutation technique based on adversary strategy awareness is proposed. Directed at the blindness problem of mutation mechanism in the course of defense, adversary strategy awareness based on Sibson entropy algorithm is proposed for guiding the choice of mutation mode by discriminating the scanning attack strategy. Aimed at the low availability problem caused by limited network resource and high mutation overhead, satisfiability modulo theories are used to formally describe the constraints of mutation. Finally, theoretical and experimental analysis shows the ability to resist scanning attack and mutation overhead.
