(Honours) M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the Univeristy of Florida Gainesville in 1982 1983 and 1987 respectively. HIs doctoral research with Dr F. A. Lindholm involved the characterization of the space-charge region of semiconductor junction devices. From 1985 to 1986 he was an Instructor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Florida. In 1987 he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Central Florida Orlando where he is now an Associate Professor. His current research interests are in CAD tool development circuit simulation and modelling semiconductor devices including homojunction bipolar transistors heterojunction bipolar transistors junction field-effect transisstors solar cells and photoconductivity siwtching devices. Dr Liou has published more than 100 technical papers in refreed journals and international and national conference proceedings. He has served as a technical reviewer for several journals and conferences as well as an associate editor for theSimulationjournal under the area of VLSI and circuit simulation. His honours and awards include: Outstanding Young Men of American in 1987 Distinguished Researcher Award Electrical Engineering Department University of Central Florida in 1988 1989 and 1991 Distinguished Researcher Award College of Engineering University of Centeral Florida in 1991 Engineer of the Year IEEE Orlando Section 1992 Eminent Engineer Tau Beta Pi 1992. In the summer of 1992 Dr Liou worked at Solid State Laboratory Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Ohio as a Summer Research Faculty sponsored by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research.

His engineering degrees (BS University of Illinois-Chicago MS PhD University of Wisconsin-Madison) were obtained in Chemical Engineering. Professor Klein is a member of the Solar Energy Laboratory at Wisconsin. He is the developer of the F-Chart method for sizing solar heating systems and the TRNSYS simulation program which is widely used in simulations of solar processes. Currently Professor Klein is involved in research on solar energy system performance absorption power cycles finite-time thermodynamics applications adsorption processes for air conditioning and air quality control and alternative refrigerants and systems for refrigeration and air conditioning applications. Professor Klein is also involved in the development of engineering computer tools for both instruction and research. In addition to the EES program described in this paper he is the primary author of the thermodynamics instructional program CP/Thermo and the finite element program FEHT.

From 1980 to 1982 he has been with the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Jordan Ammad/Jordan. He obtained the M.Sc. degree in Power Electronics and Systems and the PhD degree in Power Electronics from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) Manchester/GB in 1983 and 1986 respectively. In 1986 he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering. Jordan University as an Assistant Professor. In 1991 became an Associate Professor at the same department. He was awarded an IEE prize for best final-year project. His current research interests include the modelling of electromagnetic fields using parallel processing techniques. At present Mr Tan is working as an electrical engineer in Malaysia. Vincent F. Fusco was educated at The Queen's University of Belfast where he obtained the degree of Ph.D. He has worked as a research engineer on short-range radar and radio telementry systems. Currently he is a Reader in Microwave Commnications in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science The Queen's Univeristy of Belfast. His current research interests include non-linear microwave circuit simulation and concurrent programming techniques for electromagnetic field problems. He has acted as consultant to a number of major companies and has published numerous research papers in these areas. He is author of the bookMicrowave Circuits Analysis and Computer Aided Design(Prentice Hall 1987). Dr Fusco is a Chartered Electrical Engineer and a Member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers.
