The development of wireless communication and electronic technology leads to wireless sensor networks in various fields. Wireless sensor networks can exchange the data that generated from near environment field observation between other sensor nodes. Generally, Wireless sensor networks consist of multi sensor nodes and one or more sink nodes The sensor sensing data that nodes detected transmit from sensor networks to base station and deliver to users through internet. However sensor networks are restricted in the aspects of communication, processing data and energy consumption. Because of the low capacity batteries with devices of sensor networks, it is important to increase the lifespan operation life of sensor nodes by using energy efficiently. In this kind of sensor nodes, the energy consumption for message sending and receiving is very important for the maintenance of sensor nodes. In the existing static routing method, it consumes more energy for the maintenance of sensor network than dynamic routing method because data transmits repeatedly when the sensor data begin to spread. In this study, based on the difference in the cycle of information gathering in accordance with the characteristic of the sensor in sensor network and the cycle of demands from the sink in accordance with the characteristic of application layer, dynamic routing of wireless sensor network is proposed which actively responds to its various needs. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Studies on egress time and spatio-temporal progression of pedestrians inside a hall are important for design of exits of halls. In this study experiments on evacuation from a hall are conducted to understand the impact of exits and the geometry of the flow space on pedestrian flow. The width of the door openings as well as number, shape, size and positioning of obstacles are varied to change the nature of the goals and the geometry of the flow space. Results from this study explain how evacuation time from an enclosed space varies with umber of persons inside the flow space and nature of exits present in the flow space as well as geometry of the space. Results also show how pedestrians distribute themselves inside the flow space while evacuating due to the above mentioned variations in the flow space. These results may help in designing enclosed space geometry and exits. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2013.

We propose a silicon microring detector for 1. 55 μm wavelength, working at room temperature by means of internal photoemission absorption effect (IPE). To analyze the device, we model the microring waveguide in presence of a thin metal film, using the Z-transform method. Moreover, to calculate the quantum efficiency of the photodetector, we have used the extended analytical model of the IPE for thin metal film based on the Fowler theory. Since the proposed device benefits from both the resonant-cavity-enhanced and waveguide photodetectors; it will enjoy from the high efficiency and wavelength selectivity in a broad spectral range. We also calculate the dependency of efficiency and bandwidth characteristics of the microring based photodiode on the device parameters and coupling conditions. simulations show that the critical coupling and over coupling conditions are suitable for high efficiency and high speed applications, respectively. Besides, we show that the efficiency of proposed structure is much higher than its resonant-cavity-enhanced photodetector counterparts. The results also show that there is a trade off between the 3dB bandwidth and efficiency of the proposed photodetector.

The National Airspace System (NAS) must be improved to increase capacity, reduce flight delays, and minimize environmental impacts of air travel. NASA has been tasked with aiding the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in NAS modernization. Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) is an enabling technology that is fundamental to realization of the Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen). Despite the 2020 FAA mandate requiring ADS-B Out equipage, airspace users are lacking incentives to equip with the requisite ADS-B avionics. A need exists to validate in flight tests advanced concepts of operation (ConOps) that rely on ADS-B and other data links without requiring costly equipage. A potential solution is presented in this paper. It is possible to emulate future data link capabilities using the existing in-flight Internet and reduced-cost test equipment. To establish proof-of-concept, a high-fidelity traffic operations simulation was modified to include a module that simulated Internet transmission of ADS-B messages. An advanced NASA ConOp, Flight Deck Interval Management (FIM), was used to evaluate technical feasibility. A preliminary assessment of the effects of latency and dropout rate on FIM was performed. Flight hardware that would be used by proposed test environment was connected to the simulation so that data transfer from aircraft systems to test equipment could be verified. The results indicate that the FIM ConOp, and therefore, many other advanced ConOps with equal or lesser response characteristics and data requirements, can be evaluated in flight using the proposed concept.

In this paper we propose a novel target-tracking control scheme for a carangiform robotic fish based on a faithful dynamic model that combines rigid-body dynamics with Lighthill's large-amplitnde elongated-body *** first average the dynamic model under periodic tail-actuation,which results in an average model with tail-beat patterns(bias,frequency,and amplitude) as new control inputs that axe nonlinearly *** introducing two new state variables,the orientation angle error and the distance between the robotic fish body and the target location,we derived the dynamic equations for these variables, which are then used in backstepping-based controller design.A hybrid controller is proposed,where the switching is determined by whether the orientation error is above a threshold *** Lyapunov analysis,we show that the trajectory of the robotic fish will converge to the target point if the given condition is ***,the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is demonstrated through simulation results.

Motivated by the need for efficient control design, in this paper we consider the averaging of dynamics for a tail-actuated robotic fish, based on an experimentally validated dynamic model that incorporates rigid body dynamics and Lighthill's large-amplitude elongated-body theory. We first show that classical averaging theory fails in this case because of the relatively large oscillatory input in the driving terms. On the other hand, while the first-order geometric averaging method for systems with highly oscillatory inputs is able to capture the original time-dependent dynamics, the resulting average model is overly complex for controller design. We propose a novel control-oriented, data-driven averaging approach for robotic fish dynamics, where a scaling function is introduced on top of the classical averaging method. We run extensive simulations for different combinations of tail-beat bias, amplitude, and frequency, and find that the scaling function is constant for the force equations and varies linearly with the tail-beat bias for the moment equation. The validity of the resulting average model has been confirmed in simulation results for open-loop dynamics with new sets of tail-beat parameters, and for closed-loop dynamics when proportional control of the tail-beat bias is used in target tracking.

In this paper we propose a novel RF LDMOS structure which employs a thin strained silicon layer at the top of both the channel and the N-Drift region. The strain is induced by a relaxed Si0.8Ge0.2 layer which sits on top of a compositionally graded SiGe buffer. We have used a 2D device simulator to investigate improvements in the output characteristics of the device including saturation and linear transconductance, current drivability, cut off frequency and the on resistance. Furthermore we have examined the capacitance voltage behavior of the proposed strained silicon LDMOS device and have compared it with that of the conventional LDMOS device. It is observed that the gate capacitance increases in strong inversion with strain, but remains relatively unaffected in depletion and accumulation modes of the device operation. © 2012 Elsevier B.V. Unified Modeling Language is being used for modeling of business processes, real-time systems, embedded systems and hybrid systems. In software engineering, there are different techniques for verification of such systems. Model checking is one of the techniques for the automatic verification of software models. Earlier, these model were verified by sequential model checking tools. For very large complex systems, parallel verification can save verification time. DiVinE is a model checking tool for both CPUs and GPUs clusters to perform parallel linear time logic (LTL) verification of systems. In this paper, we propose a parallel verification methodology for UML models using DiVinE tool. We explain this methodology by the case study example of fuel filling machine.

To help analysts sift through large numbers of documents, we suggest an auto-highlighting system that computationally identifies the topmost salient sentences in each document as a form of summary and rapid comprehension aid. We conducted a user study to gather data about the types of sentences people highlight when reading and comprehending text. Our study focuses not only on the comparison between expert and non-expert users for different document types, but also the comparison between users and common algorithmic metrics for sentence selection. We analyze user-defined categories for describing the variations in the types of highlighted sentences as well as insight concerning rhetoric and language that could strengthen future algorithms.

Results for ab initio no-core shell model calculations in a symmetry-adapted SU(3)-based coupling scheme demonstrate that collective modes in light nuclei emerge from first principles. The low-lying states of Li6, Be8, and He6 are shown to exhibit orderly patterns that favor spatial configurations with strong quadrupole deformation and complementary low intrinsic spin values, a picture that is consistent with the nuclear symplectic model. The results also suggest a pragmatic path forward to accommodate deformation-driven collective features in ab initio analyses when they dominate the nuclear landscape.
