Enhancing Skin Disease Diagnosis: Light GBM-DMS Algorithm for Accurate Image Classification

Globally, skin diseases are emerging as the most common health problem. It initiates depressive disorder, and it also causes physical health distress. It rarely led to skin cancer in extreme cases. Diagnosing skin disease is subjective and time-consuming when it is performed by health experts manually. Hence, automatic skin disease prediction is required by both dermatologists and patients to enhance and accelerate treatment plans. Even though many machine-learning techniques are available to detect skin diseases, the timely prediction and accurate classification of skin lesions are still in demand. Hence, the Discrete Mycorrhizal Search Algorithm is used to optimize the novel LightGBM to meet this objective. Firstly, intrusions like noise elimination and hair removal are performed and then the image resizing takes place by utilizing the preprocessing pipelines. Subsequent to data pre-processing, the prime features are extracted using the convolutional self-attention based L2 regularization, thus minimizing the data complexity. At last, the extracted features are shifted to the final categorization phase which is done by the novel approach for effective classification of skin diseases. Two skin disease classification images, including datasets, the Skin Lesions Dermatoscopic Image dataset and Skin Cancer MNIST HAM10000, are selected to validate the classification performance. Comprehensive analyses are performed with significant measures that showed the proposed model attained better performances of 98.6%, 0.95, and 10.43 s from accuracy, intersection of union, and execution time, respectively. The stability and robustness under different environmental conditions for clinical applications in skin disease detection and classification tasks are analyzed for making decisions in real-time scenarios. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

A novel cluster based reliable security enhancement in FANET directed by game theory

The emergence of interconnected UAVs has given rise to the creation of flying ad hoc networks (FANETs) aimed at efficiently facilitating network-dependent services. However, FANET encountered considerable challenges in achieving reliability due to security issues influenced by the existence of malicious nodes. These nodes continuously engage in communication and present a significant threat. These issues are precisely addressed in this article by introducing a novel methodology enhancing network security through a game theory-driven decision tree approach. The proposed strategy involves the implementation of a cluster mechanism based on path similarity techniques. Additionally, an optimized strategy put forth to minimize cluster overhead. Comparing with state-of-the-art protocols in identifying malicious nodes within the network, the results indicate a notable enhancement averaging at 52.84%. Moreover, in aspects such as delay reduction, precision rate increase, and message drop minimization, the experimental outcomes exhibit average improvements of 42.17%, 65.24%, and 46.63%, respectively. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2025.

In recent years, academics have placed a high value on multi-modal emotion identification, as well as extensive research has been conducted in the areas of video, text, voice, and physical signal emotion detection. This paper proposes a novel multimodal emotion recognition model that employs a hybrid model with AMIG-based feature fusion on facial and EEG feature sets. The EEG signal and facial image are subjected to preprocessing to remove unwanted background noises with the Butterworth filter and Viola Jones Algorithm, respectively. While considering the pre-processed EEG signal, features such as EWFS-transform, wavelet features, and CSP-based features are extracted. In the proposed EWFS-transform, the window function is modified by using the frequency function and updated STFT. Conversely, the features including SE-AMM-EST-based features;LGXP and GLCM are extracted while considering the preprocessed face image. In the proposed SE-AMM-EST-based features, the mean of shape is updated and covariance in PCA for extracting texture-based features. In order to extract redundant free essential features, AMIG-based feature fusion is proposed. Drug–target interactions prediction based on similarity graph features extraction and deep learning

Identifying drug–target interactions (DTIs) is a critical step in both drug repositioning. The labor-intensive, time-consuming, and costly nature of classic DTI laboratory studies makes it imperative to create efficient computer algorithms to forecast possible DTIs. However, current computational approaches that predict potential drug–target interactions (DTIs) suffer from some limitations, like finding the best similarity measures or negative samples, and thus require substantial performance improvement. This study proposes an integrated approach based on feature representation and deep learning to predict DTIs. We extract the relevant features of drugs and proteins from heterogeneous networks using graph mining techniques. The proposed approach constructs a heterogeneous graph from the known drug–protein interactions, protein–protein, and drug–drug similarities. Then applying two feature extraction techniques to extract the features, then utilizing these features in training a deep learning model to predict the potential DTIs. Also, a novel algorithm is proposed to find the negative samples based on the drug and protein similarity matrices. Four Benchmark datasets are used to evaluate the proposed approach. Our approach achieves the highest AUC (area under the ROC curve) across all datasets (0.98) with around 2% increases over the existing methods. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed approach outperforms the baseline methods in predicting DTI, and our negative sample-identifying algorithm could be established as a competitive solution. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

Intrusion detection systems (IDSs) are deployed to detect anomalies in real time. They classify a network’s incoming traffic as benign or anomalous (attack). An efficient and robust IDS in software-defined networks is an inevitable component of network security. The main challenges of such an IDS are achieving zero or extremely low false positive rates and high detection rates. Internet of Things (IoT) networks run by using devices with minimal resources. This situation makes deploying traditional IDSs in IoT networks unfeasible. Machine learning (ML) techniques are extensively applied to build robust IDSs. Many researchers have utilized different ML methods and techniques to address the above challenges. The development of an efficient IDS starts with a good feature selection process to avoid overfitting the ML model. This work proposes a multiple feature selection process followed by classification. In this study, the Software-defined networking (SDN) dataset is used to train and test the proposed model. This model applies multiple feature selection techniques to select high-scoring features from a set of features. Highly relevant features for anomaly detection are selected on the basis of their scores to generate the candidate dataset. Multiple classification algorithms are applied to the candidate dataset to build models. The proposed model exhibits considerable improvement in the detection of attacks with high accuracy and low false positive rates, even with a few features selected.

Text-driven clothed human image synthesis with 3D human model estimation for assistance in shopping

Online shopping has become an integral part of modern consumer culture. Yet, it is plagued by challenges in visualizing clothing items based on textual descriptions and estimating their fit on individual body types. In this work, we present an innovative solution to address these challenges through text-driven clothed human image synthesis with 3D human model estimation, leveraging the power of Vector Quantized Variational AutoEncoder (VQ-VAE). Creating diverse and high-quality human images is a crucial yet difficult undertaking in vision and graphics. With the wide variety of clothing designs and textures, existing generative models are often not sufficient for the end user. In this proposed work, we introduce a solution that is provided by various datasets passed through several models so the optimized solution can be provided along with high-quality images with a range of postures. We use two distinct procedures to create full-body 2D human photographs starting from a predetermined human posture. 1) The provided human pose is first converted to a human parsing map with some sentences that describe the shapes of clothing. 2) The model developed is then given further information about the textures of clothing as an input to produce the final human image. The model is split into two different sections the first one being a codebook at a coarse level that deals with overall results and a fine-level codebook that deals with minute detailing. As mentioned previously at fine level concentrates on the minutiae of textures, whereas the codebook at the coarse level covers the depictions of textures in structures. The decoder trained together with hierarchical codebooks converts the anticipated indices at various levels to human images. The created image can be dependent on the fine-grained text input thanks to the utilization of a blend of experts. The quality of clothing textures is refined by the forecast for finer-level indexes. A Novel Reliable and Trust Objective Function for RPL-Based IoT Routing Protocol

The Internet of Things (IoT) integrates diverse devices into the Internet infrastructure, including sensors, meters, and wearable devices. Designing efficient IoT networks with these heterogeneous devices requires the selection of appropriate routing protocols, which is crucial for maintaining high Quality of Service (QoS). The Internet engineering Task Force’s Routing Over Low Power and Lossy Networks (IETF ROLL) working group developed the IPv6 Routing Protocol for Low Power and Lossy Networks (RPL) to meet these needs. While the initial RPL standard focused on single-metric route selection, ongoing research explores enhancing RPL by incorporating multiple routing metrics and developing new Objective Functions (OFs). This paper introduces a novel Objective Function (OF), the Reliable and Secure Objective Function (RSOF), designed to enhance the reliability and trustworthiness of parent selection at both the node and link levels within IoT and RPL routing protocols. The RSOF employs an adaptive parent node selection mechanism that incorporates multiple metrics, including Residual Energy (RE), Expected Transmission Count (ETX), Extended RPL Node Trustworthiness (ERNT), and a novel metric that measures node failure rate (NFR). In this mechanism, nodes with a high NFR are excluded from the parent selection process to improve network reliability and stability. The proposed RSOF was evaluated using random and grid topologies in the Cooja Simulator, with tests conducted across small, medium, and large-scale networks to examine the impact of varying node densities. The simulation results indicate a significant improvement in network performance, particularly in terms of average latency, packet acknowledgment ratio (PAR), packet delivery ratio (PDR), and Control Message Overhead (CMO), compared to the standard Minimum Rank with Hysteresis Objective Function (MRHOF).

An improved multi-scale convolutional neural network with gated recurrent neural network model for protein secondary structure prediction

Protein structure prediction is one of the main research areas in the field of Bio-informatics. The importance of proteins in drug design attracts researchers for finding the accurate tertiary structure of the protein which is dependent on its secondary structure. In this paper, we focus on improving the accuracy of protein secondary structure prediction. To do so, a Multi-scale convolutional neural network with a Gated recurrent neural network (MCNN-GRNN) is proposed. The novel amino acid encoding method along with layered convolutional neural network and Gated recurrent neural network blocks helps to retrieve local and global relationships between features, which in turn effectively classify the input protein sequence into 3 and 8 states. We have evaluated our algorithm on CullPDB, CB513, PDB25, CASP10, CASP11, CASP12, CASP13, and CASP14 datasets. We have compared our algorithm with different state-of-the-art algorithms like DCNN-SS, DCRNN, MUFOLD-SS, DLBLS_SS, and CGAN-PSSP. The Q3 accuracy of the proposed algorithm is 82–87% and Q8 accuracy is 69–77% on different datasets. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.
