A hybrid approach combining OFC and FSO for multichannel connectivity

This paper presents a novel approach of establishing a multichannel optical communication link, combining optical fiber cable (OFC) and free space optics (FSO) technology. By leveraging multiple lengths of optical fiber and FSO links, along with optical amplifiers to counteract attenuation, our proposed hybrid system incorporates four channels operating within the 1550 nm window. This model is specifically designed to address communication challenges in scenarios such as unplanned urban layouts, multistory buildings, or rugged terrains where traditional optical fiber deployment is impractical. By integrating FSO for the fronthaul and optical fiber for the backhaul, our system enhances transmission capacity, thereby supporting the requirements of next-generation networks and alleviating bottlenecks and connectivity issues at the last or first mile. This innovative approach holds promise for internet service providers, enterprises, and industrial networks operating in demanding environments. Furthermore, it can serve as a vital tool for restoring emergency communication links in the aftermath of disasters such as earthquakes or floods, where traditional wired optical infrastructure may be compromised. © 2024 Walter de Gruyter GmbH, Berlin/Boston.

The need for efficient energy management solutions has never been more pressing in an era of rising energy consumption and increased environmental awareness. By creating a cutting-edge Energy Management System (EMS) that not only allows users to lower their energy costs but also promotes a healthier environment, this project aims to address this urgent problem. This system's foundation is an Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure that makes use of Wi-Fi and PIC microcontrollers. This IoT system makes it possible to seamlessly control a variety of endpoints, ensuring optimal energy usage. To balance usage with demand and availability, devices are prioritized according to user preferences and the availability of energy sources. Additionally, by developing a user interface, this project aims to improve the user experience. Users can interact with the energy management system, which offers real-time insights into energy consumption and device control. Users can easily monitor, control, and tailor their preferences for energy use. which encourages greater engagement and control. © 2025 IEEE.

This project will be focused on the effect of private level solar systems on the EDL grid, specifically on the distribution part of the entire EDL network. In order to show the said effects of the integration of solar panels into the EDL network, we created models using 'power world simulator' to visually represent the changes and modifications happening in the network, in addition to the motion of power through the lines. © 2025 IEEE.

Since last decade, a microstrip patch antenna has played a very important role in industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) band applications, but single-layer antennae suffer from low gain and low radiation efficiency. For an ISM band, there is always a trade-off between these parameters, so maintaining it on a single-layer microstrip antenna is a big challenge. A circularly polarized (CP) microstrip antenna using a single-layer foam substrate has been designed for 5.8 GHz ISM band which offers high gain, improved radiation efficiency, and a lightweight design. It is constructed as a low-profile, single coaxial feed microstrip antenna on a foam substrate, achieving circular polarization by integrating two slots into the radiating patch antenna has dimensions of 0.98 λ0 × 0.98 λ0 × 0.096 λ0, impedance bandwidth of 600 MHz (5.56–6.16) GHz, which underscores its adaptability across a wide range of frequencies within the specified band. Furthermore, it elaborates the axial ratio bandwidth which extends over 130 MHz (5.77–5.90) GHz, showing the antenna’s ability to maintain circular polarization characteristics over a significant frequency range with a gain of 8.87 dB. The experimental and simulation results confirmed a remarkable radiation efficiency of 95.62%, showing its superior effectiveness compared to any existing single-layer microstrip antenna. © 2025 by Begell House, Inc.

The innovation for entrepreneurial systems and the advocacy to enact policies that institutionalise it had recently flooded the literature. Every system has fundamental principles responsible for their state, progress and change;such is the impact of the Igbo apprenticeship scheme on the entrepreneurial system. This has recently resulted in many scholars calling for government involvement through enacting policies that will make the scheme all-inclusive for sustainable economic growth in developing economies. Amongst the huge body of literature in its advocacy, none has addressed the question of the underlying principles for reproducing the relations in terms of the mathematical phenomena that the system embodies. This work shows that the success of the Ndịgbo apprenticeship hinges on certain defined underlying metaphorical mathematical functional patterns responsible for the strategic informal management behavioural model. The symbolic characteristics derived from the informal discipleship learning mode are activated for commerce, by young males and their hands-on in trading, with persistent cooperation, integrity, communication and collective purposeful attempts to succeed. The evidence of the model described is extracted from the explorative and exploitative trajectories that emerged from their goal-pursuing dedications to satisfy customer needs, with optimal methods for managing resources and building economies of scale, emerge. This is known as Ịgba-ọsọ-ahịa. This work reveals that Ịgba-ọsọ-ahịa embodies attributes of models that have shaped world-class productive systems such as (a) the geometrical Mandelbrot model, (b) Markov Chain variant with a backoff process, (c) stochastic nonlinear models, (d) network spatial model and (e) system computational model. Finally, a simplistic novel stochastic model of the socio-economic processes is developed to solve complex engineering decisions and hyperparameter optimisation problems in this work. © 2024 SAGE Publicatio

In Power Line Communications(PLC),there are regulatory masks that restrict the transmit power spectral density for electromagnetic compatibility reasons,which creates coverage issues despite the not too long ***,PLC networks often employ repeaters/relays,especially in smart grid neighborhood area *** in broadband indoor PLC systems that offer a notable data rate,relaying may pave the way to new applications like being the backbone for wireless technologies in a cost-effective manner to support the Internet-of-things *** this paper,we study Multiple-Input Multiple-Output(MIMO)PLC systems that incorporate inband full-duplex functionality in relaying *** present several MIMO configurations that allow end-to-end half-duplex or full-duplex operations and analyze the achievable performance with state-of-the-art PLC *** reach this analysis,we get channel realizations from random network layouts for indoor and outdoor *** adopt realistic MIMO channel and noise models and consider transmission techniques according to PLC *** concepts discussed in this work can be useful in the design of future PLC relay-aided networks for different applications that look for a coverage extension and/or throughput:smart grids with enhanced communications in outdoor scenarios,and“last meter”systems for high-speed connections everywhere in indoor ones.

Emotion recognition with hybrid attentional multimodal fusion framework using cognitive augmentation

The identification of emotions has attracted significant analysis in various sectors, including mental health evaluation and human computer interaction. A limitation of emotion detection technology is its susceptibility to misread minor emotional signals, which might results in inaccurate results. Therefore, in this paper, an adaptive social spider optimized attentional gated recurrent unit (ASSO-AGRU) method is proposed that provides an exhaustive understanding of human emotions by integrating different modalities including voice, textual data and facial expressions. The multimodal dataset tokenization, Z-score normalization, and Gaussian filter (GF) for text, audio, and video are utilized through pre-processing of data. It is followed by extraction of features for Term Frequency - Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF), Mel-frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCCs), and histogram of oriented gradients (HOG) through text, audio, and video respectively. The ASSO-AGRU based integration strategy of multimodal inputs, which captures essential time-based relationships and correlations between different modalities, results in improved emotion recognition ability. The results show that the proposed framework attains F1-score (89%), precision (87.50%), recall (88.50%) and accuracy (89.70%) thus making it a reliable and logical method for multimodal emotion identification. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of computer Applications and Management 2025.

Sign language serves as a vital mode of communication for the deaf and hard of hearing community, yet access to sign language content remains limited due to the lack of accurate and timely captioning. In this paper, a comprehensive comparison has been made between Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM)- and Support Vector Machine (SVM)-based neural networks for sign language recognition. Our approach uses LSTM networks to effectively recognize and translate sign language gestures into textual descriptions. We leverage a large dataset of sign language videos paired with English captions for training and evaluation. Through extensive experimentation, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our system in accurately captioning sign language videos, thereby enhancing accessibility for individuals with hearing impairments. Our self-curated dataset includes 28 unique sentences on which our LSTM-based model achieved an accuracy of 90% whereas it was 97% for SVM-based approach. Our research contributes to advancing the field of accessibility technology and holds promise for real-world applications in education, entertainment, and communication for the deaf and hard of hearing community. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

University administrations are always in need for tools to optimize their operation decreasing operational costs and ensuring a good learning experience for students. Advising and course offering are two main tasks that require knowledge in the field and expertise. The tasks need also data and its related analytics. This paper presents an innovative advising tool based on data mining leveraging from electrical power concepts. The tool uses Python and Excel to automate advising sheets and electrical power engineering by applying simultaneity and the factor of utilization to students records and courses to predict future course enrollment with a RMSE=0.75. The research proposed is unique since it helps administration and advisors. With the reduction of resources and disruption of the classical educational system new tools should be elaborated to reduce costs and secure on time graduation of students. © 2025 IEEE.

The concept of solar cell is changing the world in obtaining a clean energy that is an environment user friendly source of energy. Solar arrays process and convert the irradiance which is representing the quantity of light that comes from sun to a usable energy. The maximum power point which is denoted by Maximum power (Pmax) can be efficiently extracted from solar panels through the implementation of a tracking system denoted by the maximum power point tracking algorithm (MPPT). Such a tracking system is well known and utilized in detecting the ultimate maximum power that can be taken from the PV solar arrays under the circumstances of the various changes in both the temperature and irradiance. Through this analysis study, the Perturb and Observe (P&O) algorithm will be proposed to adjust the perturbation steps that will be controlled by an enhanced fuzzy logic controller. It will utilize the fuzzy concepts to extract the maximum power. In this research paper an analysis will be conducted to find the unknown parameters of the PV module along in selecting the appropriate set of fuzzy rules/fuzzy table as well as introducing a high gain dc-dc boost converter to improve the efficiency of power, response time, and reducing the oscillation around the Pmax in the proposed photovoltaic system. © 2025 The Author(s).
