Deepfake technology has become increasingly sophisticated and poses a growing threat to society, as it can be used to create convincing fake videos for malicious purposes. Therefore, detecting deepfakes has become crucial to ensure the authenticity of visual content. This paper proposes a novel deepfake detection approach that utilizes InceptionResNetV2 for feature extraction and Vision Transformer (ViT) with Nyström Attention mechanism for classification. Our model achieves high accuracy, AUC, precision, and recall on the CelebDFv2 dataset and outperforms state-of-the-art techniques like EfficientNet, XceptionNet, and ResNet. We also perform evaluations on the CelebDFv1 and DFDC datasets. Furthermore, we conduct a comprehensive literature survey to highlight the existing research in deepfake detection. We provide a roadmap for future work in this field, highlighting potential research directions that can further improve the effectiveness and applicability of deepfake detection models. The proposed model shows great potential for real-world applications, and the suggested future work can help to address some of the remaining challenges in this area. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Item response theory (IRT) is the study of how people make probabilistic decisions, with diverse applications in education testing, recommendation systems, among others. The Rasch model of binary response data, one of the most fundamental models in IRT, remains an active area of research with important practical significance. Recently, Nguyen and Zhang (2022) proposed a new spectral estimation algorithm that is efficient and accurate. In this work, we extend their results in two important ways. Firstly, we obtain a refined entrywise error bound for the spectral algorithm, complementing the 'average error' 2 bound in their work. Notably, under mild sampling conditions, the spectral algorithm achieves the minimax optimal error bound (modulo a log factor). Building on the refined analysis, we also show that the spectral algorithm enjoys optimal sample complexity for top-K recovery (e.g., identifying the best K items from approval/disapproval response data), explaining the empirical findings in the previous work. Our second contribution addresses an important but understudied topic in IRT: privacy. Despite the human-centric applications of IRT, there has not been any proposed privacy-preserving mechanism in the literature. We develop a private extension of the spectral algorithm, leveraging its unique Markov chain formulation and the discrete Gaussian mechanism (Canonne et al., 2020). Experiments show that our approach is significantly more accurate than the baselines in the low-to-moderate privacy regime. Copyright © 2023 by the author(s)

This paper proposes a novel local reproduction method called 'personalized sound zone,' which can confine a sound field by using a combination of software processing and hardware innovations that remove loudspeaker enclosures from an array, and discusses the development of a headrest loudspeaker prototype unit not to leak sound into adjacent seats for airline seating. The proposed method is based on a two-channel fixed beamforming algorithm that does not require extensive equipment, and its prototype is compact enough to fit in a seat headrest. The personalized sound zone software algorithm is implemented on a DSP circuit board and processed in real time. © 2024 IEEE.

Rapid development of software significantly facilitates developers in all phases of software development. Developers can easily leverage frameworks, content management systems (CMS), and libraries available in each programming language. With the large and rapid addition of frameworks, CMS, and libraries, developers must be able to choose precisely which ones to use based on the requirements of their software development projects. The utilization of machine learning for segmentation or clustering enables developers to identify groups of frameworks, CMS, and libraries by leveraging features obtained from static analysis, such as the size of codebases, complexities, structures, and other code characteristics. One algorithm that can be used for segmentation is K-means clustering. However, the availability of datasets is crucial as it can offer information about the code characteristics of each software. The use of machine learning on datasets can be an ongoing research area in software development related to utilizing code characteristics in software analysis. This study provides a novel dataset for the domains of software development and machine learning. The dataset we created contains 30 instances and 68 features that can be utilized for related or future research. This research utilizes the Silhouette score to determine the optimal k value. © 2024 IEEE.

We introduce a conceptually simple yet effective method to create small, compact decision trees – by using splits found via Symbolic Regression (SR). Traditional decision tree (DT) algorithms partition a dataset on axis-parallel splits. When the true boundaries are not along the feature axes, DT is likely to have a complicated structure and a dense decision boundary. In this paper, we introduce SR-Enhanced DT (SREDT) – a method which utilizes SR to increase the richness of the class of possible DT splits. We evaluate SREDT on both synthetic and real-world datasets. Despite its simplicity, our method produces surprisingly small trees that outperform both DT and oblique DT (ODT) on supervised classification tasks in terms of accuracy and F-score. We show empirically that SREDTs decrease inference time (compared to DT and ODT) and argue that they allow us to obtain more explainable descriptions of the decision process. SREDT also performs competitively against state-of-the-art tabular classification methods, including tree ensembles and deep models. Finally, we introduce a local search mechanism to improve SREDT and evaluate it on 56 PMLB datasets. This mechanism shows improved performance on 77.2% of the datasets, outperforming DT and ODT. In terms of F-Score, local SREDT outperforms DT and ODT in 82.5% and 73.7% of the datasets respectively and in terms of inference time, local SREDT requires 25.8% and 26.6% less inference time than DT and ODT respectively. Internet of Things plays an important role in agriculture in order to provide an innovative and smart solution to traditional farming. IOT is all about connecting physical devices to the internet and can access from a remote place. So that crop monitoring becomes easy even if the farmer is in a remote place. Due to automation, human efforts are required less. Also the IoT data helps the farmer make decisions about planting, harvesting or fertilizing. This paper explains the system we have implemented for monitoring the agriculture with the help of IoT. The system is developed in order to provide real time information on crop conditions to the farmer. For that, it uses various types of sensors connected to the microcontroller in order to measure parameters like temperature, soil moisture, and water level, and accordingly, it activates actuators like a fan, motor or pump to manage ventilation and irrigation. We have used the GSM module to send the alert to the farmer and the WiFi module is used to send the agriculture data to the cloud platform. So that farmer can monitor the farm or crops remotely. The system is continuously collecting farm data from the sensors. If the crop soil is very dry them system will turn on the water pump. Also, for high temperature, the fan will get activated in order to cool down that area. This feature is mostly used in indoor farming. The farmer can monitor the farm condition in real time with the help of cloud platform. This system is helpful for improving productivity, crop management, and save resources i.e. efficient use of water which prevents water wastage. © 2024 IEEE.

The skin has a very significant role in humans. But unfortunately, the skin is one of the organs vulnerable to disease. Skin diseases can have an impact on the annoying itching, pain, emotional, and social feelings of the sufferer. The causes of skin diseases include bacteria, fungi, viruses, dust, and allergies. Delay in treatment can exacerbate the condition of the affected skin. Therefore, the research proposed a skin disease detection mobile application for early diagnosis. The total of skin disease images is 2.747 data, which is divided into five classes and separated into training and validation data. The category of the dataset includes Acne Vulgaris, Actinic Keratosis, Nail Fungus, Psoriasis, and Seborrheic Keratoses. The development of this application uses several augmentation techniques so that the model gets input training data from various image forms, and then uses pre-trained MobileNetV2, which has low latency and low power as needed on mobile devices. The development of this application also uses the TensorFlow Lite model for inference with ML Kit on Android. The model performance gave the best accuracy of 90.62%, precision of 89%, recall of 90%, and F1- score of 89%. These results indicate that the classifying of skin diseases using the pre-trained MobileNetV2 on CNN architecture is feasible. © 2023 IEEE.

Medical image segmentation is crucial for diagnosis and treatment planning. While recent advancements in deep learning, particularly UNet variants, have improved segmentation performance, they often result in increased model complexity, which limits their real-time applicability on resource-constrained devices in clinical settings. To address this challenge, we present the Tiny Efficient U-Net (TE-UNet), a novel lightweight model balancing efficiency and accuracy. TE-UNet uses a U-shaped encoder-decoder framework with a gated linear attention mechanism to process low-level and high-level features, preserving details and reducing complexity. It employs depth-wise separable convolutions for higher-level processing, enhancing efficiency without losing performance. Additionally, skip connections improve multi-scale feature extraction and information flow. Experiments on two public datasets across different modalities demonstrate that TE-UNet outperforms ten state-of-the-art methods, maintaining a parameter size under 40KB and low computational cost. TE-UNet makes real-time segmentation more accessible for various clinical applications. © 2024 IEEE.

Background: The automated classification of videos through artificial neural networks is addressed in this work. To explore the concepts and measure the results, the data set UCF101 is used, consisting of video clips taken from YouTube to recognize actions. The study is carried out with the authors' resources to determine the feasibility of independent research in the area. Methods: This work was developed in the Python programming language using the Keras library with Tensorflow as the back-end. The objective is to develop a network that presents performance compatible with the state of the art in terms of classifying videos according to the actions taken. Results: Given the hardware limitations, there is considerable distance between the implementation possibilities in this work and what is known as the state-of-the-art. Conclusion: Throughout the work, some aspects in which this limitation influenced the development are presented, but it is shown that this realization is feasible and that obtaining expressive results is possible 98.6% accuracy is obtained in the UCF101 data set, compared to the 98 percentage points of the best result ever reported, using, however, considerably fewer resources. In addition, the importance of transfer learning in achieving expressive results as well as the different performances of each architecture are reviewed. Thus, this work may open doors to carry patent-based outcomes. © 2025 Bentham science Publishers.
