This paper describes how genetic programming can be used to automate the synthesis of the design of both the topology and parameter values for controllers. The method described in this paper automatically makes decisions concerning the total number of processing blocks to be employed in the controller, the type of each block, the topological interconnections between the blocks, the values of all parameters for the blocks, and the existence, if any, of internal feedback between the blocks of the overall controller. This design process can readily combine optimization of performance (e.g., by a metric such as the integral of the time-weighted error) with time-domain constraints and frequency-domain constraints. Genetic programming is applied to two illustrative problems of controller synthesis: the design of a robust controller for a nonminimal-phase plant and the design of a robust controller for a three-lag plant. The PID compensator of Astrom and Hagglund (1995) for the three-lag plant delivers credible performance. The automatically created controller is better than 7.2 times as effective as the previous controller as measured by the integral of the time-weighted absolute error, has only 50% of the rise time in response to the reference input, has only 35% of the settling time, and is 92.7 dB better in terms of suppressing the effects of disturbance at the plant input.

Visually impaired people encounter several challenges in their mobility and navigation. Their daily activities are obstructed due to their inability to adapt or recognize accurately their surroundings, especially outside their house which they are more familiar with. Thus, it becomes the main reason of accidents, falling off, getting lost in unknown areas, etc. Furthermore, one of the sensory systems that helps the body to process data about the external environment is the visual system. Blind people also lose touch with the outside world, develops poor motor habits, which results in postural problems as a result. This project will assist visually impaired people in their daily life and simplify normal tasks through a system combining two previously designed projects, “Smart Shoes for Blind and Visually Impaired People”, and “Human posture monitoring device”. The multifunctional system is developed with the goal of securing safe movements for visually impaired people as well as maintaining a good back posture by detecting leaning postures (LP). The purpose of the smart shoe is to identify obstacles and protect the user from unintended accidents. A compatible Android application has been developed to alert the user when there is an obstruction or when he is walking on a wet surface. Voice alarms will be used to acoustically alert the user. If the user collapses, a message with their position will be sent right away to a relative. On the other hand, the smart vest will identify the position of the user's back and alert him to maintain a straight posture through the same application as well. As the system is dealing with human health, some safety measurements would be taken into consideration to implement a safe electrical system in order to reduce error and to increase accuracy.

The article estimates the impact of masking fluctuation interferences on the quality of the request signals detection. The high Himalayas in northern India are an essential source of climate generation and maintenance over the entire northern belt of the Indian subcontinent. It also affects extreme weather phenomena such as western disturbances in the region during winter. The work presented here describes the trends in 117-year precipitation changes and their impact on the western Himalayas and suggests some possible explanations in the context of changing rainfall patterns. Under the investigation, the forecasting efficiency and the prediction pattern of artificial neural network (ANN) and seasonal autoregressive integrated moving average (SARIMA) models for rainfall series in the western Himalayan states of India have been assessed. The results revealed significant changes in the monthly, seasonal, and annual rainfall series data for the three states of the Western Himalayan regions from the years 1900 to 2017. The study also concludes that the nonlinear autoregressive neural network (NARNN) models can be used to forecast the western Himalayan region data series well. According to the result interpretation, the highest rainfall may be estimated in August, 1632.63 mm (2023), whereas the lowest rainfall can be obtained in October (0.43 mm) during 2023. The model predicted a gradual decrease in annual rainfall trends in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh from 2018 to 2023 despite heavy rainfall prediction in the monsoon season, whereas Jammu and Kashmir increase in annual rainfall has been predicted from 2018 to 2023. Possible explanations for the change in precipitation over the western Himalayas have also been proposed and explained.

Event traces are helpful in understanding the performance behavior of parallel applications since they allow the in-depth analysis of communication and synchronization patterns. However, the absence of synchronized clocks on most cluster systems may render the analysis ineffective because inaccurate relative event timings may misrepresent the logical event order and lead to errors when quantifying the impact of certain behaviors or confuse the users of time-line visualization tools by showing messages flowing backward in time. In our earlier work, we have developed a scalable algorithm that eliminates inconsistent inter-process timings postmortem in traces of pure MPI applications. Since hybrid programming, the combination of MPI and OpenMP in a single application, is becoming more popular on clusters in response to rising numbers of cores per chip and widening shared-memory nodes, we present an extended version of the algorithm that in addition to message-passing event semantics also preserves and restores shared-memory event semantics.
