As technology further scales, inaccurate prediction of IR-drop effect during scan testing could cause significant under estimation of the critical path delay, and further leads to serious issues such as insufficient guard band application, test escape, chip mis-binning and more. In this paper, a novel layout-aware path delay test generation method is proposed to maximize the effect of power-supply noise on target paths during delay test. It is able to estimate supply noise fast by calculating transition propagation probability and running fault simulation. Based on such estimation, the correlation between path-delay fault (PDF) and transition-delay fault (TDF) patterns is calculated to find the best sequence to merge patterns. The final generated path-delay test is able to simultaneously increase the local and global power-supply noise, thus furthur capture the worst-case timing scenarios of the target path. Experimental results show that the final PDF pattern can increase the path delay significantly comparing with the nominal PDF pattern and the best randomly-filled PDF pattern.

Heart sounds are generated by the several mechanical movements, such as the heart valve leaflets, the blood flow in vessels etc., that can provide the useful information to understand the cardiovascular system in details. Auscultation (PCG) is a non-invasive, low cost and easily repeatable technique to observe the entire system behavior at a glance. Several works have been investigated to model the sounds from different aspects, including the signal processing, the fluid mechanic and the equivalent electrical analogy. However, all the works gave the limitations. Most of the signal processing literatures that are addressed the heuristic decision-based approach; on the other hand, the fluid mechanic-based works discussed the behavior of overall or particular part of the cardiovascular system. Besides, the acoustic signals from heart can be modeled with the help of behavior through the source generation. In this study, several modeling works of heart sound are inspected and categorized according to the literatures, thereafter the advantages and the limitations are discussed. An overall research direction will be conducted to combine the fluid mechanic, the acoustics and the signal processing in the study.

Detection of patient deterioration and triage (prioritization of care) are two critical tasks in the high risk environment and interdisciplinary care model of patients in an intensive care unit. To make decisions and plan treatments, clinicians need to observe, integrate, communicate, and understand a wide range of information from various devices located at the bedsides of multiple patients. However, several technological and physical limitations prevent them from optimally performing these tasks, which negatively impact the capabilities of healthcare teams. The Monitoring Messenger concept was developed to overcome some of these challenges by integrating information on a mobile device and supporting team decision-making and information exchange. Results from the initial phases of this project: requirements definition using Cognitive Work Analysis and rapid device prototyping are presented in this paper.

The 3GPP LTE provides high data transmission rate between the User Equipment (UE) and Evolved Node B (eNB) with lower latency and better throughput. However, with the advancement and increasing traffic of data load, it is necessary to have data scheduling with user requests. In real life situations, mobile users become impatient when they don't receive their desired data. Moreover, the LTE Enhanced Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Services (eMBMS) does not provide any type of scheduling to measure and manage the impatient user request in multimedia broadcasting scenario. So, we consider this situation in our proposed scheme and simulated a new type of hybrid scheduling scheme to overcome this problem. It also takes care of the server anomalies arising from multiple requests sent by the same user for the same data.

This work presents a division-free algorithm for fixed-point power exponential function (PEF) using Newton's method. Such a mechanism can improve the computational speed of PEF and is suitable for low-cost embedded systems without floating-point units (FPU). To achieve the goal, this work develops a fast square method to effectively describe a PEF in the form of multiplicative representation. Such representation can be separated into integer and fraction parts. For computing the base term of fraction part in fast square method, a division-free Newton's method is proposed in this paper. The proposed one utilizes two-stage iterations to modify the conventional solving strategy to reduce iteration times when the exponential term is positive. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can reduce the execution period about 1.8 times than the baseline one. Additionally, the performance of the proposed algorithm can reach five times higher than that of the system using a floating architecture. The computational precision of the proposed algorithm is also closed to that of the algorithm using floating operations.
