High-performance and Multi-functional Control of Transformerless Single-phase Smart Inverter for Grid-connected PV System

Highly reliable and flexible control is required for distributed generation(DG) to efficiently connect to the *** inverters play a key role in the control and integration of DG into the power grid and provide advanced functionalities. In this paper, an energy-based single-phase voltage-source smart inverter(SPV-SSI) of 5 k VA is designed and analyzed in detail. SPV-SSI is capable of supplying the power to local load and the utility load up to the rated capacity of the inverter, injecting the power into the grid, storing the energy in lead-acid battery bank, controlling the voltage at the point of common coupling(PCC) during voltage sags or faults, and making decisions on real-time pricing information obtained from the utility grid through advanced metering. The complete design of smart inverter in dq frame, bi-directional DC-DC buck-boost converter, IEEE standard 1547 based islanding and recloser, and static synchronous compensator(STATCOM) functionalities is presented in this paper. Moreover, adaptive controllers, i. e., fuzzy proportional-integral(F-PI) controller and fuzzy-sliding mode controller(F-SMC) are designed. The performances of F-PI controller and F-SMC are superior, stable, and robust compared with those of conventionally tuned PI controllers for voltage control loop(islanded mode) and current control loop(grid-connected mode).

This paper proposes an artificial neural network to determine orientation using polarized skylight. This neural network has specific dilated convolution, which can extract light intensity information of different polarization directions. Then, the degree of polarization (DOP) and angle of polarization (AOP) are directly extracted in the network. In addition, the exponential function encoding of orientation is designed as the network output, which can better reflect the insect’s encoding of polarization information and improve the accuracy of orientation determination. Finally, training and testing were conducted on a public polarized skylight navigation dataset, and the experimental results proved the stability and effectiveness of the network.

The paper presents a mathematical model of a submerged evaporator laboratory plant for cooling beer. The model is derived as a system with distributed parameters of the counterclockwise type. Additionally, the results of the experimental testing of the submerged evaporator laboratory plant are presented and based on such simplified a static model is identified, which is suitable for control system design. © 2022 Croatian Society MIPRO.

Frequency Response Analysis (FRA) is a well-known technique used for power transformer condition monitoring for more than 40 years. Some research lines use this technique in other machines such as synchronous machines. This paper presents onsite tests on the field winding of a 125 MVA synchronous machine installed in a pumped storage power plant. The tests have been accomplished in standstill and rated speed conditions. The main contribution of this article is to demonstrate that the speed of the rotor has a significant influence on the field winding FRA test results. A comparison between standstill condition and rated speed FRA tests is presented. The frequency range where the differences take place indicates that centrifugal forces at rated speed change the capacitance of the field windings. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper derives a small-signal model of a three-phase synchronous reference frame phase-locked loop for use in system frequency response studies assuming a system of balanced three-phase voltages. The small-signal model is described by a second-order transfer function which relates the actual to the estimated grid frequency. The small-signal model behaves identically to the large-signal model for small disturbances. Simulation results demonstrate that phase-locked loop dynamics can be neglected in the high-inertia scenarios, while in the low-inertia scenarios they have a significant impact on the grid frequency and should be included in models. © 2022 IEEE.

Metaverse is a collective term for all economic and social activities in the space where the physical world, digital world, and consciousness world are interactively integrated and mutually empowered. The metaverse is the advanced stage of digital civilization and the future formation of human society. The basis for developing metaverse is general digital technologies such as high-performance network, high-performance storage, high-performance computing, high-performance security, and artificial intelligence. On the basis of the above, the key to developing the metaverse lies in researching core technologies such as digital life technologies, trusted collaborative network technologies, natural interaction technologies, ubiquitous operating system technologies, technologies and methods for computational experiments, and theories and technologies for crowd intelligence science. We should take typical metaverse application scenarios as entry points, such as the key fields of agriculture, industry, service industry, military, social governance, and other economic and social areas, to break through key metaverse technologies and implement pilot demonstration projects of metaverse. Through the demonstration, we can systematically promote the application of metaverse in economy and society from point to line, and continuously iterate and evolve the metaverse technology to advance the metaverse to a higher stage. Accurate heading control is the premise for underwater vehicles to complete underwater operations. In order to improve the performance of heading control, this paper proposes a heading control strategy based on PID-fuzzy switching. First, the force analysis of the steering motion was carried out to derive the dynamics model of the steering motion. Then, the whole heading control process is divided into two phases, steering phase and holding phase. Fuzzy control is used in the steering phase, and PID control is used in the holding phase. By setting the automatic switching switch, the control system can switch freely between the two to meet the needs of system adjustment under different errors. Finally, the performance of the established heading control system is verified through motion control simulations and pool experiments, and the proposed control strategy is compared with other methods. The results show that the control strategy can effectively achieve ROV heading control with good steady-state accuracy, and the overall performance has been greatly improved. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

Synchronous reluctance machines (SynRMs) are increasingly used in various applications, such as energy conversion systems and electric drives. In addition to standard control algorithms, some of these applications also require the implementation of flying start methods that aim to estimate the rotor speed and angle before the SynRM is connected to the converter. In this way, synchronization between the SynRM and the converter is achieved, and the inrush current is reduced. This paper proposes a new method for the flying start of SynRMs based on symmetric and opposite active voltage vectors and a second-order generalized integrator (SOGI) with a frequency-locked loop (FLL). Applying such a voltage vector pattern to the terminals of a rotating SynRM induces phase current spikes whose sampled counterparts have a sinusoidal waveform. According to the derived mathematical model of the SynRM in the stationary $\alpha\beta$ reference frame, the induced $\beta$ -axis current contains no DC offset and is therefore passed to the SOGI-FLL structure to estimate the rotor angle and speed. Moreover, applying the opposite active vectors ensures a lower current distortion, guarantees the accuracy of the estimation and reduces the generated torque. The proposed method was verified by simulations in Matlab Simulink.
