For the purpose of researching charging station distribution for electric vehicles it was necessary to estimate the number of electric vehicles, especially cars in Croatia until the year 2020. Electric vehicles are definitely the future of transportation. First these will be cars since they are the most common means of transport. But besides the vehicles, attention should be paid to the best possible preparation in the field of infrastructure. It means that charging stations as well as a different system in vehicles should be standardized. Finally, all that should be built. Of course, different systems and components will be developed at the same time, so it is very hard to predict the future right now. All the abovementioned greatly depends on the number of electric vehicles predicted for the next 10 years. Of course, the number of electric vehicles that will be sold does not depend only on the offer on the market but also on buyers' purchasing power. Due to everything mentioned so far, it is very hard to predict the number of vehicles sold in the future. On the other hand, such estimations are necessary and they represent the basis for further development of several systems especially infrastructure that needs most time and money for development. This paper will present an estimation of electric vehicle sale in Croatia as well as all the conditions and assumptions used for that estimation.

A conversion of an internal combustion engine vehicle (ICE) to an electric drive vehicle (EV) was a project carried out at the Faculty of Electrical engineering and computing (FER). This project has lead to valuable conclusions about the ICE to EV conversion, its costs and benefits. The whole process of conversion will be presented in this article, including the applied regulations, total labor and components expenses. Finally, an analysis of the conversion cost-benefit ratio has been done, taking into account lower fuel prices, maintenance costs, battery life etc. The comparison was done between an EV and a diesel ICE vehicle.

The present work is focused on the analysis of the temperature dependence of thermophysical parameters of polymeric nanocomposites based on a thermoplastic polyurethane matrix filled with different amounts of single-walled carbon nanotubes of high purity. The temperature dependence of thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity, and specific heat capacity were analysed in a wide temperature range. The regression models of experimental data showed a good agreement with physical models based on the quantum interpretation of thermal transport phenomena in the solid materials above the Debye temperature. The temperature dependences of all three investigated thermophysical parameters showed the secondary relaxation transition that occurred in all tested nanocomposite materials. Moreover, the first-order exponential model for the dependence of investigated thermophysical parameters on the amount of single-walled carbon nanotubes in the thermoplastic polyurethane matrix at standard temperature and pressure has been created.

Eventual failures in induction machines may lead to catastrophic consequences in terms of economic costs for the companies. The development of reliable systems for fault detection that enable to diagnose a wide range of faults is a motivation of many researchers worldwide. In this context, non-invasive condition monitoring strategies have drawn special attention since they do not require interfering with the operation process of the machine. Though the analysis of the motor currents has proven to be a reliable, non-invasive methodology to detect some of the faults (especially when assessing the rotor condition), it lacks reliability for the diagnosis of other faults (e.g. bearing faults). The infrared thermography has proven to be an excellent, non-invasive tool that can complement the diagnosis reached with the motor current analysis, especially for some specific faults. However, there are still some pending issues regarding its application to induction motor faults diagnosis, such as the lack of automation or the extraction of reliable fault indicators based on the infrared data. This paper proposes a methodology that intends to provide a solution to the first issue: a method based on image segmentation is employed to detect several failures in an automated way. Four specific faults are analyzed: bearing faults, fan failures, rotor bar breakages and stator unbalance. The results show the potential of the technique to automatically identify the fault present in the machine. © 2014 IEEE.

Outlier detection is a problem that has been largely studied in the past few years due to its great applicability in real world problems (e.g. financial, social, climate, security). Fault detection in industrial processes is one of these problems. In that context, several methods have been proposed in literature to address fault detection. In this paper we propose a comparative analysis of three recently introduced outlier detection methods: RDE, RDE with Forgetting and TEDA. Such methods were applied to the data set provided in DAMADICS benchmark, a very well-known real data tool for fault detection applications. The results, however, can be extended to similar problems of the area. Therewith, in this work we compare the main features of each method as well as the results obtained with them.

This paper presents summarized electromagnetic and thermal design of interior permanent magnet motor for a low-floor tram TMK 2200. Motor geometry is optimized for maximum torque density using differential evolution algorithm. The influences of winding configuration on power losses and thermal transients in the motor during one driving cycle of the tram have been analyzed. The results indicate that an optimal number of turns per slot and parallel paths can be found to yield minimum temperatures in various parts of the motor considering the intermittent character of the load.

Advances in wireless access technologies such as WiMax and LTE have accelerated the development of wireless video *** existing erasure codes are designed for wireless data broadcasting,their potential can only be realized for wireless video broadcasting if the distortions associated with video packets and their complex decoding dependency are taken into *** this paper,we propose the greedy video erasure code(GVEC)to minimize average video distortion by accounting for the temporal scalable decoding dependency among video frames e.g.I,P and B frames in *** is a greedy algorithm and sufers from high computational *** practical implementation,we have designed the joint video adaptation and erasure code(JVEC)with lower complexity,which can generate erasure codes on the fly to guarantee the decoding of important video *** results show that the performance of JVEC is very close to that of GVEC,and is superior to that of existing erasure *** results also show the existence of a performance tradeof between video distortion and video packet throughput.

An image fusion algorithm between visible and infrared images is significant task for computer vision applications such as multi-sensor systems. Among them, although a visible image is clear perfectly able to be seen through the naked eyes, it is often suffers with noise;while an infrared image is unclear but it has high anti-noise property. In this paper, we propose a novel image fusion algorithm for visible and infrared images using a non-subsampled contourlet transform (NSCT) and a pulse-coupled neural network (PCNN). First, we decompose two original images above mentioned into low and high frequency coefficients based on the NSCT. Moreover, each low frequency coefficients for both images are duplicated at multiple scales, and are processed by laplacian filter and average filter respectively. Finally, we can fuse the normalized coefficients by using the PCNN. Conversely, we can reconstruct a fused image based on the low and high frequency coefficients, which are fused by using the inverse NSCT. Experimental results show that the proposed image fusion algorithm surpasses the conventional and state-of-art image fusion algorithm.

Supervisory control reconfiguration can handle the uncertainties including resource failures and task changes in discrete event systems. It was not addressed to exploit the robustness of closed-loop systems to accommodate some uncertainties in the prior studies. Such exploitation can cost-efficiently achieve reconfigurability and flexibility for real systems. This paper presents a robust reconfiguration method based on Petri nets (PNs) and integer programming for supervisory control of resource allocation systems (RASs) subject to varying resource allocation relationships. An allocation relationship is seen as a control specification while the execution processes requiring resources as an uncontrolled plant. First, a robust reconfiguration mechanism is proposed. It includes updating the P-invariant-based supervisor and evolving the state of the closed-loop system. The latter adapts to the control specification changes by the self-regulation of the closed-loop system's state. Next, two novel integer programming models for control reconfiguration are proposed, called a reconfiguration model with acceptability and reconfiguration one with specification correction. Since both models integrate the firability condition of transitions, no additional efforts are required for the state reachability analysis. Finally, a hospital emergency service system is used as an example to illustrate them. © 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

In this paper, a new control method for synchronous motor with excitation and damper windings is presented. It is based on one type of nonlinear control; feedback linearization control. To make a realization in the sense of electric drive, symmetricM space vector PWM （pulse width modulation） is applied. Estimation of damper winding currents via Lyapunov function for the whole estimated system is done. The aim of control is to make tracking system for rotor speed and square of stator flux. Simulation of motor starting to predefined operating points is done, and also maintaining these points during step change of load torque is obtained. Simulations give good results.
