Brain networks typically exhibit characteristic synchronization patterns where several synchronized clusters coexist. On the other hand, neurological disorders are considered to be related to pathological synchronization such as excessive synchronization of large populations of neurons. Motivated by these phenomena, this paper presents two approaches to control the cluster synchronization of Kuramoto oscillators. One is based on the use of pacemakers to the clusters, and the other is based on feeding back the mean phases to the clusters. We first show conditions on the pacemaker weights and the feedback gains for the network to achieve cluster synchronization. Then, we propose a method to find optimal feedback gains through convex optimization. A numerical example demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed methods. © 2024 IEEE.

Accurate net load forecasting is vital for energy planning, aiding decisions on trade and load distribution. However, assessing the performance of forecasting models across diverse input variables, like temperature and humidity, remains challenging, particularly for eliciting a high degree of trust in the model outcomes. In this context, there is a growing need for data-driven technological interventions to aid scientists in comprehending how models react to both noisy and clean input variables, thus shedding light on complex behaviors and fostering confidence in the outcomes. In this paper, we present Forte, a visual analytics-based application to explore deep probabilistic net load forecasting models across various input variables and understand the error rates for different scenarios. With carefully designed visual interventions, this web-based interface empowers scientists to derive insights about model performance by simulating diverse scenarios, facilitating an informed decision-making process. We discuss observations made using Forte and demonstrate the effectiveness of visualization techniques to provide valuable insights into the correlation between weather inputs and net load forecasts, ultimately advancing grid capabilities by improving trust in forecasting models. © 2024 IEEE.

Artificial intelligence(AI)and machine learning(ML)help in making predictions and businesses to make key decisions that are beneficial for *** the case of the online shopping business,it’s very important to find trends in the data and get knowledge of features that helps drive the success of the *** this research,a dataset of 12,330 records of customers has been analyzedwho visited an online shoppingwebsite over a period of one *** main objective of this research is to find features that are relevant in terms of correctly predicting the purchasing decisions made by visiting customers and build ML models which could make correct predictions on unseen data in the *** permutation feature importance approach has been used to get the importance of features according to the output variable(Revenue).Five ML models i.e.,decision tree(DT),random forest(RF),extra tree(ET)classifier,Neural networks(NN),and Logistic regression(LR)have been used to make predictions on the unseen data in the *** performance of each model has been discussed in detail using performance measurement techniques such as accuracy score,precision,recall,F1 score,and ROC-AUC *** model is the bestmodel among all five chosen based on accuracy score of 90%and F1 score of 79%followed by extra tree ***,our study indicates that RF model can be used by online retailing businesses for predicting consumer buying *** research also reveals the importance of page value as a key feature for capturing online purchasing *** may give a clue to future businesses who can focus on this specific feature and can find key factors behind page value success which in turn will help the online shopping business.

A Finite Memory Approach Applied to Verified Pseudo State Estimation of Fractional Models of Lithium-Ion Batteries

Fractional equivalent circuit models have been used in numerous publications to represent long-term memory phenomena of the charging/discharging behavior of Lithium-ion batteries. However, despite the fact that fractional models allow for capturing (infinite horizon) memory properties, the same feature also complicates the numerical evaluation. This is especially critical in cases, in which state estimation procedures are implemented that need to be executed in real time. For this type of applications, it is necessary that the execution time in each time step is bounded a-priori and that it does not grow over time. For that purpose, classical simulation approaches exploit, for example, Grünwald-Letnikov schemes with a finite length of previous state information. However, truncating the memory window without considering the arising errors may lead to wrong state estimates. This is especially critical if interval observers are designed which are meant to include the sets of reachable states with certainty.

Wind power is one of the sustainable ways to generate renewable *** recent years,some countries have set renewables to meet future energy needs,with the primary goal of reducing emissions and promoting sustainable growth,primarily the use of wind and solar *** achieve the prediction of wind power generation,several deep and machine learning models are constructed in this article as base *** regression models are Deep neural network(DNN),k-nearest neighbor(KNN)regressor,long short-term memory(LSTM),averaging model,random forest(RF)regressor,bagging regressor,and gradient boosting(GB)*** addition,data cleaning and data preprocessing were performed to the *** dataset used in this study includes 4 features and 50530 *** accurately predict the wind power values,we propose in this paper a new optimization technique based on stochastic fractal search and particle swarm optimization(SFSPSO)to optimize the parameters of LSTM *** evaluation criteria were utilized to estimate the efficiency of the regression models,namely,mean absolute error(MAE),Nash Sutcliffe Efficiency(NSE),mean square error(MSE),coefficient of determination(R2),root mean squared error(RMSE).The experimental results illustrated that the proposed optimization of LSTM using SFS-PSO model achieved the best results with R2 equals 99.99%in predicting the wind power values.

Beamspace Channel Estimation Via PARAFAC Decomposition for RIS Assisted Millimeter-Wave Multiuser MISO Communications

The reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) with massive low-cost passive reflecting elements integrated on a planar surface has the ability to favourably reconfigure the wireless propagation environment, thereby significantly improving the performance of wireless communication networks. In this work, we consider uplink (UL) channel estimation for the RIS assisted millimeter-wave multiuser multiple-input single-output beamspace system where the base station (BS) is equipped with lens antenna array. This channel state information (CSI) estimation task is extremely challenging for two reasons. First, the BS only has limited number of radio frequency chains but the size of beamspace channel is very large. Second, the number of passive components in the RIS is abundance but they lack signal processing capabilities. By exploiting the parallel factor (PARAFAC) decomposition of the received signals, we derive an iterative estimation algorithm, called unitary approximate message passing (UAMP), to accurately estimate the channels between the BS and the RIS as well as the channels between the RIS and the users. To guide the selection of the system parameters, we provide the uniqueness conditions for our PARAFAC decomposition based channel estimation. To theoretically verify the efficiency of our UAMP algorithm, the Cramér-Rao bound (CRB) of the estimation is also derived. Besides, we investigate the achievable downlink (DL) sum rate for the channel estimation obtained by the proposed algorithm by using the maximum power beam selection, the optimized phase shift matrix and the zero forcing precoding. Extensive simulation results demonstrate the excellent mean squared error (MSE) performance of our UAMP estimation algorithm. In particular, for sufficiently high UL signal-to-noise ratio, the MSE of our channel estimation reaches the CRB.
