HybridViT: An Approach for Alzheimer’s Disease Classification with ADNI Neuroimaging Data

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a prevalent neurological disorder characterized by progressive brain cell degeneration and atrophy, leading to a gradual decline in cognitive and functional abilities. Timely diagnosis is paramount in potentially delaying or preventing the course of this debilitating condition. Magnetic Resonance Imaging presents a non-invasive means for longitudinal monitoring and serves as a crucial biomarker for tracking disease progression. In particular, Structural Magnetic Resonance Imaging (sMRI) enables the quantification of atrophy, which is a reliable indicator for assessing the precise stage and severity of AD-related neurodegeneration. In this research, we employ advanced machine learning techniques to address the challenge of accurate and early diagnosis of AD. We utilize a comprehensive dataset comprising five stages of 2D sMRI Image data, encompassing AD, Cognitively Normal, Mild Cognitive Impairment, Early Mild Cognitive Impairment, and Late Mild Cognitive Impairment classes. To optimize the classification process, we explore a novel approach that combines a Vision Transformer with pre-trained convolutional neural networks. Our study includes binary and multi-class classification tasks, and the performance of 26 pre-trained Keras Deep Learning models is assessed. Notably, The DenseNet121+ViT model achieves 91.26% accuracy in multi-class classification. For binary classification, MobileNetV2+ViT, EfficientNetB4+ViT, and MobileNet+ViT achieve accuracies of 92.33%, 97.82%, and 94.81%, respectively. These results highlight our approach’s potential to improve AD diagnosis accuracy and underscore the importance of deep learning in early detection of neurological disorders. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

CSG_IACO: an efficient stigmergic-based improved ACO routing strategy to determine the effective path based on traffic density in V2V networks

Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) are an essential element and building block of the autonomous vehicle system. VANETs, a subcategory of mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), stand out due to certain predetermined attributes. In VANETs, optimal path routing offers solutions to address issues like traffic density, node mobility, link failure, and bandwidth. Finding the optimal VANET road path between source and destination conditions is difficult. Extensive paths increase network overhead, communication costs, and failure probability, reducing routing efficiency. We present the new traffic density-based stigmergic ant colony optimization routing (CSG_IACO) to improve routing performance. Improved ant colonies stimulate the proposed CSG_IACO, which measures inter-vehicular density. Ant behavior serves as the inspiration for the improved ACO technique, a meta-heuristic methodology. Phase 1 of the CSG_IACO involves using the traffic density to form a cluster among the vehicles. Phase 2 of the suggested approach is Stigmergy-based ant colony optimization, which guides ants to indirectly communicate with each other to act upon the change in the environment to find a best path. This improves protocol efficiency in all aspects. The simulations using NS 2.35 and SUMO indicate that the proposed system considerably reduces obstacles to finding the optimal path compared to existing systems. The simulations show that our suggested scheme performs better than AODV-DATRLD, ACO-DATRLD, and CaCOIoV in terms of performance including the count of delivered packets, throughput, end-to-end delay, the average count of cluster formations per cluster head, and the number of dropped packets. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of Computer Applications and Management 2025.

The quality of air and water is essential for human health, environmental sustainability, and ecosystem balance. However, pollution from industrial activities, urbanization, and agricultural practices has made effective environmental monitoring a global priority. Traditional monitoring methods, which rely on manual sampling and laboratory analysis, are often time-consuming and lack real-time capabilities. This paper presents a Smart Environmental Monitoring (SEM) system leveraging IoT and sensor technology to monitor air and water quality in real time using two key sensors: the MQ135 for Air Quality Index (AQI) and the pH sensor for Water Quality Index (WQI). By focusing on these two critical parameters, the SEM system offers a streamlined yet robust solution for assessing environmental quality. The system collects data continuously, transmits it to a cloud platform for processing, and employs machine learning algorithms to forecast future pollution trends. A user-friendly dashboard displays real-time AQI and WQI levels, historical trends, and predictive insights, empowering users to respond proactively to environmental risks. Deployment results demonstrate the SEM system's capability in detecting pollution patterns, identifying high-risk areas, and predicting pollution spikes during peak traffic and in industrial zones. Comparative analysis with traditional monitoring highlights the SEM system's superior accuracy, scalability, and predictive abilities. Although the SEM system has higher initial setup costs, its operational efficiency and long-term benefits in mitigating environmental risks make it a sustainable choice for public health and environmental management. © 2025 IEEE.

In this letter, we propose a joint distributed estimation and channel estimation algorithm for wireless sensor networks (WSNs). We assume a random gain channel model with a Beta prior, where the channel gain is an attenuation factor ranging between zero and one. To estimate the augmented unknown vector, which includes both the unknown vector and the channel gain vector, we employ Maximum A Posteriori (MAP) estimation. This is achieved through an iterative steepest-descent method to find the MAP estimators for both the unknown vector and the channel gain vector. We mathematically derive the optimum combination coefficients that minimize disturbance. Additionally, we propose a separate approach for channel gain estimation using Least Squares (LS) and provide the convexity analysis of the cost function along with the sufficient conditions for the convergence of the iterative channel gain estimator. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm compared to some other algorithms in the literature, specially when channel gains are modeled with a Beta prior. © 1997-2012 IEEE.

This study investigates the design and execution of an automated attendance tracking system using facial recognition CCTV based. Facial recognition technology and CCTV cameras are integrated in this system to provide a seamless, frictionless way to track and record attendance in real time. In addition to boosting attendance record accuracy, the approach reduces the administrative burden associated with using traditional methods. The suggested system is designed to recognise people when they enter or leave a monitored area by leveraging developments in computer vision. It accomplishes this automatically and requires no interaction from humans. Furthermore, the system's use of the Internet of Things makes it flexible and scalable to a variety of business situations, including offices, schools, and large-scale events. This is made feasible via real-time data synchronising and reporting. © 2025 IEEE.

Web servers are the backbone of modern Internet infrastructure, serving as the primary medium for online information distribution. Despite their critical role, web servers are susceptible to cyber-attacks. While current firewall mechanisms provide some level of protection against cyber threats, the evolving nature of these attacks and emerging vulnerabilities continue to pose significant risks. One of the most prevalent yet lethal attacks known today is DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks. These growing risks emphasize the urgent need for dynamic and robust threat detection and mitigation systems. This paper presents a comparative analysis of ensemble learning models (e.g., Random Forest, XGBoost, and LightGBM) and neural network-based models (e.g., Graph Neural Networks (GNN), Long Short-Term Memory networks (LSTM) with attention layers, and Gated Recurrent Units (GRU)) for DDoS attack detection and classification. Based on this analysis, we propose a real-time DDoS attack detection system integrated with a mitigation mechanism. The proposed system utilizes a two-tiered mitigation strategy assisted by UFW (Uncomplicated Firewall) and Apache server configuration files to block the incoming and outgoing traffic associated with suspicious IP addresses. The system's overall complexity, integrating both detection and response processes, ensures its efficiency in real-time environments while handling large volumes of traffic. Furthermore, the proposed approach achieves 15% improvement in detection accuracy and 20% reduction in false positives compared to traditional techniques, making it an effective and scalable solution for modern web server security. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Furthermore, the solution emphasizes sustainability by incorporating continuous monitoring and retraining mechanisms, which enable the model to maintain its performance even as the nature of misinformation evolves. This work underscores the transformative potential of deep learning models like RoBERTa in combating the widespread dissemination of online threats. By ensuring precise, scalable, and timely detection, the study contributes to creating a safer, more trustworthy digital ecosystem. This research investigates a hybrid approach for predicting movie revenue by integrating machine learning models with sentiment analysis. The growing influence of social media and online discussions offers a valuable opportunity to understand audience engagement and sentiment, which are critical in forecasting box office performance. By analyzing data from various social media platforms alongside movie metadata from sources like IMDb and TMDb, this study seeks to create a comprehensive model that can predict a movie's opening weekend revenue and classify it as a 'Hit,' 'Average,' or 'Flop.' The work highlights the value of audience sentiment, pre-release engagement, and historical box office trends in predicting financial outcomes. By using a combination of quantitative metrics (likes, shares, views) and qualitative data (sentiment scores, discussion themes), the study aims to refine revenue predictions and improve classification accuracy. The hybrid model's ability to incorporate both traditional and real-time data offers several advantages, including better responsiveness to audience perceptions, the ability to identify emerging trends, and more accurate revenue forecasts. This research provides actionable insights that can aid movie studios, marketers, and investors in decision-making processes, ultimately reducing financial risks associated with movie releases. This research presents an innovative deep learning-based predictive maintenance model designed for smart automotive systems, utilizing the EnsembleAE-Boost (EAE-Boost) algorithm. The primary objective of the proposed model is to enhance the prediction accuracy and fault detection capabilities of smart vehicles through advanced machine learning techniques. The EAE-Boost algorithm, an ensemble model integrating auto encoders and boosting, is compared with existing algorithms, namely K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), Deep Neural Networks (DNN), and Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost), based on key simulation metrics, including accuracy, precision, prediction time, and fault detection rate. Simulation results demonstrate that the EAE-Boost algorithm outperforms the existing algorithms, achieving superior performance in all metrics. Notably, the proposed method showed significant improvements in accuracy and fault detection rate, with a reduction in prediction time, highlighting its potential for real-time maintenance applications in smart automotive systems. The findings underscore the effectiveness of the proposed deep learning model in enhancing vehicle reliability, safety, and operational efficiency. © 2025 IEEE.

A Hybrid Approach to Dynamic Thread Allocation Driven by Workload and Task Prioritization

In today’s rapidly changing world, cloud service providers face numerous challenges in managing resources and meeting customer demands. To address these challenges, cloud service providers should prioritize the tasks and allocate threads efficiently. By allocating threads efficiently, service providers can optimize resource utilization and reduce response times and job completion times which in turn improves customer satisfaction. We propose a hybrid model that integrates the threshold-driven thread Balancer (TDTB) for dynamic thread allocation with a Customer Retention Model (CRM) to prioritize tasks based on customer behaviour. Our model initiates the establishment of a thread pool configured with a dynamic threshold based on workload (on-demand requests). Concurrently, a queue to handle incoming customer requests is set up alongside a CRM priority queue designed for task prioritization. Our model calculates Job duration and completion times for n priority classes. Crown consumers experience shorter durations and completion times compared to other priority classes. Tasks are completed in descending order of priority. The results of thorough experimentation clearly show that crown consumer tasks are highly satisfied. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.
