The oxygen uptake rate (OUR) is an important quantity to the aerobic activated sludge processes. It can be used to model and to optimize the system, for monitoring the process efficiency, and as a toxicity indicator in wastewater treatment plants, among other applications. The lack of online and reliable sensors to measure this significant quantity has motivated the development of software sensors for its estimation. This paper shows the design of a discrete-time disturbance observer to be used as a software sensor to estimate the oxygen uptake rate in an activated sludge reactor. A linear model of the dissolved oxygen (DO) process is used to design a compensator to maintain the DO concentration around a reference operating point. Numerical simulations are carried out and the obtained results demonstrate the applicability of the proposed method.

The Global Positioning System (GPS) technology has been widely used in many applications. However, GPS operation is very limited indoors. While people are spending most of the time indoor. Different solutions are used in indoor positioning and location based service. Indoor positioning based systems are increasingly used in manufacturing. Four instance indoor positioning systems are used for the assets tracking and human trajectory. Tracking mass amount of people Will generate huge big data, manufacturing companies as well as individuals can take advantage of this traffic flow data to pursue environmental, economic and social sustainable manufacturing strategies. In this paper, we describe one method of tracking massive amount of people and provide them and visual tracking information by using one of the indoor positioning Technologies HAIP provided by Nokia. We present empirical results of experiments of using the HAIP system.

Signals with time-varying frequency content are generally best represented in the time frequency (TF) domain, with the components instantaneous frequency laws being their key nonstationary features. There are a number of methods for TF distribution calculation (TFD), however, most of them add unwanted artifacts, making the TFD interpretation more difficult. In this paper, we use a compressive sensing approach to suppress or completely eliminate those artifacts. Furthermore, a basis pursuit algorithm is employed for signal reconstruction in order to reduce resolution loss, which is a mayor obstacle of existing TFD design methods. © 2015 IEEE.

This research project supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research named SINABEL (Safety of spent fuel pools: Experimental analysis, modeling and validation of system and CFD codes) delivers with a combination of experiments and simulations, knowledge's of the heat transfer processes for the case of a partially or completely evaporated spent fuel storage pool in light water reactor nuclear power plants both within the fuel rod bundle of a fuel assembly (FA) and in the spaces between the FA in order to be able to predict via the modeling and simulation the development of the axial and radial temperature profiles of rods by different accident scenarios. SINABEL is a joint research project which three research institutions (TU-Dresden, HZDR and HSZG) work together. One of the main focus in this project is the investigation of the flow behavior by separate effect experiments in a single 16x16 PWR-FA-dummy (pressurized water reactor fuel assembly) to study the vertical density-driven exchange movements of gases within and above the FA-bundle. By means of these small scale experiments the flow behavior will be investigated using optical observations facilities for air, replacement atmospheres for superheated steam (e.g. through model fluids). The operational capability is also to be tested as part of this work. The measuring results in this project include the dynamic behavior of gas concentrations and local velocity vectors, turbulent structures of oppositely directed gas flows. In this paper the experimental design and results of preliminary isothermal experiments at a shortened PWR-FA-dummy are presented which are based on acquired knowledge's from experiments at a heated BWR-FA-dummy-rig and descriptions of fluid dynamic process in FA. In recent years, the rapid development of network and E-commerce technologies, promotes the development of human body big data. New technologies, such as 3D scanning and 3D printing will improve our life quality. The new socialized manufacturing network composed of Io T, advanced logistics network and 3D printers. Everyone is allowed to have chance to participate in any process of the whole production manufacturing lifecycle by some ways, such as crowdsourcing. Boosts the creation, production and consumption patterns of individuation, real-time transformation and E-commerce, possibly will lead to a new industrial revolution. In this revolutionary change wave, public concerns focus on the human body big data used for social manufacturing of wearable products or personalized medical treatment. Although many scholars have done a lot of research work, the collection of the human body shape big data still faces many challenges. There is no complete, separated theoretical research works in progress, it should be summarized and improved systematically. In this paper, we review that big data for human body shape is gaining momentum. The 3D scanning and 3D modeling of human body shape are summarized and concluded. The main applications of these big data are analyzed.

In recent years, the Information Technology develops rapidly. With the development of the Information Technology, the social manufacturing, a new mode of manufacturing, has been proposed. The social manufacturing combines the Internet technology, the three-dimensional scanning technology and the virtual reality technology, and is used in the apparel industry and other fashion industries for the mass customization. The three-dimensional scanning technology and the virtual fitting mirror technology are inseparable from the depth camera. Depth cameras play an important role in the social manufacturing. Manufacturers use depth cameras to obtain three-dimensional models of the body of customers to design suitable clothes. Customers can visually see the effect of clothes by using a virtual fitting mirror which is based on the depth camera. The social manufacturing makes mass customization possible, and the depth camera help develop the social manufacturing. This paper introduces the principles of depth cameras, and the application of depth cameras in the social manufacturing.

This paper is concerned with developing a distributed k-means algorithm for the wireless sensor networks (WSN) where each node is equipped with sensors. The underlying topology of the WSN is supposed to be strongly connected. The consensus algorithm in multi-agent consensus theory is utilized to exchange the measurement information of the sensors in WSN. To obtain a faster convergence speed as well as a higher possibility of having the global optimum, a distributed k-means++ algorithm is firstly proposed to find the initial centroids before executing the distributed k-means algorithm. The proposed distributed k-means algorithm is capable of partitioning the data observed by the nodes into measure-dependent groups which have small in-group and large out-group distances. Simulation results show that the proposed distributed algorithms can achieve almost the same results as that achieved by the centralized clustering algorithms.

Software testing, as part of the software quality assurance processes in software engineering (SE), is seldom cited as the most engaging part of a software engineer's training. In spite of its importance, it was often a neglected area, and only recently, with the adoption of more agile methodologies, has testing come to the fore. Testers face challenges, including the need to be able to identify when software is not behaving as expected. Metamorphic Testing (MT) first appeared twenty years ago in an effort to help testers facing the oracle problem (not having a mechanism to determine correct software behavior). Although MT is simple in concept, it has demonstrated very impressive fault-finding ability, and has recently been attracting a great deal of interest. Training students and practitioners to effectively apply MT has become an important goal, but to date, no textbook or guidelines have been made readily available. This paper, written by some of the leading voices in the MT community, is a sharing of some of the experiences, reflections and insights gained through teaching MT (and other related subjects). These experiences indicate that not only is MT effective in industry and at fault-finding, it has the potential to really engage students in creative SE classroom activities.

Hundreds of incubators get birthed worldwide every day, and many new ICT technologies developed continuously, like cloud computing and big data. Therefore, it's possible and necessary to develop a cloud computing platform that gathering a variety of data and resources information needed by thousands of incubators and millions of incubated enterprises. In this paper, after comparing three different countries incubator's management procedure, we mainly talk about the way to design a cloud-based incubator platform including its architecture, main functions, and the interface. We assume that the platform can gather and share a variety of information and resource, like money, human resource, equipment, office place and so on. So the platform is beneficial for the incubated enterprises, incubators, and the government. For example, the platform can provide individual services through big data technology. The platform can analysis the situation of incubators and warn the companies in dangerous condition with the history big data. Finally, this paper describes the use case of cloud-based incubator platform for Guangdong Province.
