In this paper a prototype emergency services system is presented, equipped with a multimedia database registering and storing relevant emergency situations in a semi automatic way. In this paper we assume that this database is created exclusively with sound and linguistic material won from emergency telephone calls. The presented system enables conducting speaker recognition experiments. Sources of data, metadata generation, architecture description, searching for results, and database implementation are comprised.

In this paper a possible application of a novel adaptive control approach is reported that fits to the 'traditional line of thinking' according to which in the most practical cases neither very precise, nor even complete system model is needed for obtaining precise control for dynamical systems. The validity of this statement is briefly pointed out in the most popular approaches as the main idea of the Robust Sliding Mode / Variable Structure controllers, in Lyapunov's 2nd Method, and in a recently published problem tackling based on the simple geometric interpretation of the Singular Value Decomposition. In the present approach differential equations are deduced from iterative Cauchy sequences to realize adaptive control of a coupled nonlinear system in 'decoupled manner', using single dimensional projections of the 'acceleration space'. The paradigm on which the method is demonstrated is a 2 dimensional generalization of the originally single dimensional Φ6-type Van der Pol oscillator that is a popular paradigm of chaotic systems. Further possible generalizations of the novel method is outlined, too. © 2009 EUCA.

This paper focuses on the development and application of a Neuro-Fuzzy (NF) networks-based scheme for Fault Detection and Isolation (FDI) in a U-tube Steam Generator (UTSG). First, a NF network is trained with data collected from a full scale UTSG simulator, and residuals are generated for fault detection. To identify the UTSG, a Locally Linear Neuro-Fuzzy (LLNF) model is used. This model is trained using the Locally Linear Model Tree (LOLIMOT) algorithm which is an incremental tree structure algorithm. Then, an evolutionary algorithm is used to train a Mamdani type NF network to classify the residuals. The residuals are analyzed by using this NF classifier for fault isolation purposes. © 2009 IFAC.

This paper studies the global robust output regulation problem for a class of output feedback systems subject to an uncertain exosystem by using output feedback control. An adaptive control technique is used to handle the unknown parameter vector in the exosystem. It is shown that this unknown parameter vector can be exactly estimated asymptotically if the controller incorporates a minimal internal model. The effectiveness of our approach has been illustrated by an asymptotic tracking problem associated with a generalized fourth-order Lorenz system.

In numerous practical applications precise control of a subsystem passively connected to a precisely controllable subsystem by elastic connection is needed. As typical example is a crane carrying its payload swinging on an elastic string can be mentioned. From the point of view of control technology this task is interesting since the connected degree of freedom has little damping and it is apt to keep swinging accordingly. The traditional approaches apply the input shaping technology to assist the human operator responsible for the manipulation task. In the present paper a novel adaptive approach applying fixed point transformations based iterations having local basin of attraction is proposed for simultaneously tackle the problems originating from the imprecisions of the available dynamic model of the system to be controlled and the swinging phenomenon. In the simulation investigations presented a simple model consisting of two connected masspoints is considered: one of them can directly by controlled by control forces, the other one (in the role of the payload) is dragged by the controlled point via an elastic spring. The control considers the 4th time-derivative of the trajectory of the dragged system.

In this paper we study the global robust output regulation problem for a class of nonlinear systems by output feedback control. The class of systems possesses nonlinear zero-dynamics and, is thus considerably larger than systems studied in the existing literature. As an illustration of our approach, we have applied our approach to the global robust asymptotic tracking problem of the hyperchaotic Lorenz system.

Need of blood pressure measurement is usable in wide spectrum of applications from physicians offices to home care applications. Many types of blood pressure measurement devices can be bought in electronics shops. All such devices are measurement devices which need to be in contact with human body (hand or foot mainly). Further they allow only one measurement per several minutes interval (typically 10 minutes). Our goal is to develop a small device for noninvasive continuous measurement of blood pressure. This device must be a small battery powered embedded system which measures a blood pressure during a long time period and sends this information to remote operator's stations. In this station the analysis of receiving video data is made for several types of usage. In current state we develop a small device to scan a video or a set of images with the NIR (Near Infra Red) CCD camera. The video data are transferred by wireless connection to the computer where they are analyzed. The first results provide an indication to be a right way to obtain exact continuous blood pressure information. In the future there exists a way to integrate this blood pressure measurement system to concurrently developed biotelemetric system architecture for patients and physicians called Guardian. For position monitoring in outdoor areas there is developed GPS module which informs about patient location and brings very precise time basis for other measuring modules of Guardian system and time synchronization.

This paper is concerned with the H infin fuzzy control problem for a class of systems with repeated scalar nonlinearities and random packet losses. A modified Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model is proposed in which the consequent parts are composed of a set of discrete-time state equations containing a repeated scalar nonlinearity. Such a model can describe some well-known nonlinear systems such as recurrent neural networks. The measurement transmission between the plant and controller is assumed to be imperfect and a stochastic variable satisfying the Bernoulli random binary distribution is utilized to represent the phenomenon of random packet losses. Attention is focused on the analysis and design of H infin fuzzy controllers with the same repeated scalar nonlinearities such that the closed-loop T-S fuzzy control system is stochastically stable and preserves a guaranteed H infin performance. Sufficient conditions are obtained for the existence of admissible controllers, and the cone complementarity linearization procedure is employed to cast the controller design problem into a sequential minimization one subject to linear matrix inequalities, which can be readily solved by using standard numerical software. Two examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed design method.

Although methods for design of genetic algorithms (GA) are well established, general expressions for determination of optimal GA parameters are still missing. There is also a problem of possible inaccuracy of a found solution. This paper describes a GA performance analysis for a selected vector-based optimization problem that has led to useful GA parameter selection criteria. The paper also describes a new method for increasing the precision of a complementary micro genetic algorithm ((mu)GA) by enforcing gradual contraction of the space of candidate solutions during optimization. The enhanced (mu)GA has been tested on the model of a 13-DOF tentacle robot, and the performance analysis showed significant improvement of accuracy without affecting the duration of the algorithm.
