Grid computing emerges as an effective technology to couple geographically distributed resources and solve large-scale computational problems in wide area networks. There are several popular grid platforms, such as UNICORE and Globus Toolkit. Many famous grid projects are constructed with these platforms, each of which manages different distributed resources. In order to aggregate resources managed by different grid platforms, it is necessary to implement the interoperation among these grid platforms. Security interoperation is one of key issues for the interoperation. CGSP (ChinaGrid Support Platform) and VEGA are two popular grid platforms in China. To achieve security interoperation between these two platforms, four mapping policies, including user-user mapping, user-agora mapping, role-user mapping, role-agora mapping, are proposed in this paper. The security interoperation process is proposed based on SAML specification and the mapping policies. We also analyze the flexibility of mapping policies and the security of the interoperation process.

It now becomes a trend to implement the interconnections between resources as well as services in ubiquitous systems. Attribute-based authorization mechanisms, protocols and systems are gaining in popularity, such as SAML, XACML, Shibboleth, etc. However, their management efficiency could be further improved. The Role-based Access control (RBAC) mechanism is widely accepted as a general mechanism for authorization management. However, RBAC is still not flexible enough to address various application scenarios in ubiquitous systems. We propose a new architecture for access control in ubiquitous systems that impose attribute and status constraints on the RBAC model, which can significantly enhance the generality and flexibility of authorization by integrating the advantages of RBAC and attributed- based access control models. Moreover, the state mechanism proposed in this architecture captures the states of the authorization elements so as to reflect the outcomes of the authorization control. Finally, we analyze the flexibility and generality of this architecture in ubiquitous systems.

The aim of this paper is to obtain a model for an in- scale fast-ferry model TF-120 including the dynamics and kinematics, using a remote experimentation platform for marine vehicles. The physical model is autonomous and is controlled remotely from a PC using Wi-Fi communications. The identification and validation of the dynamical model is obtained with turning circle maneuverings. In this model are included the kinematical equations. The tests with the autonomous in-scale physical model of the high-speed ship were carried out in the surroundings of the Bay of Santander. With this model, simulations with several turbojets angles are made.

During 1976–1977 academic years he taught as assistant professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering University of Iowa. Then Dr. Bien joined Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology summer 1977 and is now Professor of Control Engineering at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science KAIST. Dr. Bien was the president of the Korea Fuzzy Logic and Intelligent Systems Society during 1990–1995 and also the general chair of IFSA World Congress 1993 and for FUZZ-IEEE99 respectively. He is currently co-Editor-in-Chief for International Journal of Fuzzy Systems (IJFS) Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems and a regional editor for the International Journal of Intelligent Automation and Soft Computing. He has been serving as Vice President for IFSA since 1997 and is now Chief Chairman of Institute of Electronics Engineers of Korea and Director of Humanfriendly Welfare Robot System Research Center. His current research interests include intelligent control methods with emphasis on fuzzy logic systems service robotics and rehabilitation engineering and large-scale industrial control systems. Kwang-Hyun Park:received the B.S. M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from KAIST Korea in 1994 19997 and 2001 respectively. He is now a researcher at Human-friendly Welfare Robot System Research Center. His research interests include learning control machine learning human-friendly interfaces and service robotics.

It has been found that some huge overshoot in the sense of sup-norm may be observed when typical iterative learning control (ILC) algorithms are applied to LTI systems, even though monotone convergence in the sense of λ-norm is guaranteed. In this paper, a new ILC algorithm with adjustment of learning interval is proposed to resolve such an undesirable phenomenon, and it is shown that the output error can be monotonically converged to zero in the sense of sup-norm when the proposed ILC algorithm is applied. A numerical example is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

In this paper we describe a design and implementation of an on-line scheduling algorithm for controller area network (CAN) messages that exploits properties of genetic algorithms (GA) to achieve global message throughput optimization. The use of GA-based scheduler has been found effective even in time-critical distributed control systems, such as the considered control system that encompasses several control subsystems at the fire fighting vehicle. The experimental results show that the GA-optimized CAN message scheduler considerably decreased the average message queuing time.

In this work we present a comparative study, testing selected methods for clustering and classification of holter electrocardiogram (ECG). More specifically we focus on the task of discriminating between normal 'N' beats and premature ventricular 'V' beats. Some of the tested methods represent the state of the art in pattern analysis, while others are novel algorithms developed by us. All the algorithms were tested on the same datasets, namely the MIT-BIH and the AHA databases. The results for all the employed methods are compared and evaluated using the measures of sensitivity and specificity.

We investigate two-way and one-way single-photon quantum key distribution (QKD) protocols in the presence of loss introduced by the quantum channel. Our analysis is based on a simple precondition for secure QKD in each case. In particular, the legitimate users need to prove that there exists no separable state (in the case of two-way QKD), or that there exists no quantum state having a symmetric extension (one-way QKD), that is compatible with the available measurements results. We show that both criteria can be formulated as a convex optimization problem known as a semidefinite program, which can be efficiently solved. Moreover, we prove that the solution to the dual optimization corresponds to the evaluation of an optimal witness operator that belongs to the minimal verification set of them for the given two-way (or one-way) QKD protocol. A positive expectation value of this optimal witness operator states that no secret key can be distilled from the available measurements results. We apply such analysis to several well-known single-photon QKD protocols under losses.

The Brain Computer Interface technology allows the communication between people and mechanical devices controlled by microprocessors [1] [8]. It translates the human mental activity into device commands. The kernel of this technology is an algorithm that takes samples, filters and classifies the electro-encephalographic signal [2] [3] [4] [5]. In this paper, different types of filtering windows are considered, the main objective is to determine the type of window with best results in the discrimination stage, when the user is thinking about different activities;as secondary result the most relevant features are extracted. With an earlier and better discrimination the classifier would be easier to implement, faster and more reliable[14].

Agent is an active, permanent computer entity which is able to perceive, to behave "reasonably" towards its environment, to actuate on them (agents) and which is able to communicate with other agents. For mutual communication, negotiation, cooperation, coordination and collaboration among agents the higher-level language ACL (Agent Communication Language) is used. Agents may also help in fault detection and diagnostics. Simple model equations rewriten on discretized residual form, compare measurement values from process with calculated simple model equations. Exception handling is a critical element for achieving long-term success in batch production. Correct handling of exceptions is a key element in process safety, consistent product quality, and production cost minimalization. In Exception handling Agents represent Agent with the equipment-state machine and Agent with the procedure-state machine. Jadex is a Java based, FIPA compliant agent environment, and allows to develop goal oriented agents following the BDI model. Jadex provides a framework and a set of development tools to simplify the creation and testing of agents. Visual Paradigm for the Unified Modeling Language (VP-UML) is a UML CASE tool. Visual Paradigm for UML is a professional but easy-to-use UML modeling tool that supports complete software life-cycle - analysis, design, implementation, testing and deployment.

A new nonlinear minimum-variance adaptive proportional integral derivative (PID) based multiple controller, incorporating a multi-layered neural network learning submodel, is presented. The unknown non-linear plant is represented by an equivalent stochastic model consisting of a linear least-squares-based submodel plus a non-linear multi-layered back propagation (BP) neural network-based learning submodel. The proposed multiple controller methodology provides the designer with a choice of using either a conventional PID self-tuning controller, a PID structure-based pole-placement controller, or a newly proposed PID structurebased pole-zero placement controller through simple switching. The novel PID structure based pole-zero placement controller employs an adaptive mechanism, which ensures that the closedloop poles and zeros are located at their prespecified positions. The switching decision between the different nonlinear fixed structure controllers is made manually in the present case but can be automated using fuzzy logic or stochastic learning automata techniques. Simulation results using a nonlinear plant model demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed multiple controller with respect to tracking set-point changes. The aim is to achieve a desired speed of response while penalizing excessive control action, for applications in nonminimum phase and unstable systems.
