Symptom selection for multi-label data of inquiry diagnosis in traditional Chinese medicine

In traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) diagnosis,a patient may be associated with more than one syndrome tags,and its computer-aided diagnosis is a typical application in the domain of multi-label learning of high-dimensional *** is common that a great deal of symptoms can occur in traditional Chinese medical diagnosis,which affects the modeling of diagnostic *** selection entails choosing the smallest feature subset of relevant symptoms,and maximizing the generalization performance of the *** present there are rare researches on feature selection on multi-label data.A hybrid optimization technique is introduced to symptom selection for multi-label data in TCM diagnosis in this paper,and modeling is made by means of four multi-label learning algorithms like k nearest neighbors,*** compare the performance of the algorithm with the current popular dimension reduction algorithms like MEFS(embedded feature selection for multi-Label learning),MDDM(multi-label dimensionality reduction via dependence maximization) on the UCI Yeast gene functional data set and an inquiry diagnosis dataset of coronary heart disease(CHD).Experimental results show that the algorithm we present has significantly improved the *** particular,the improvement on the average precision for the classifier is up to 10.62% and 14.54%.Syndrome inquiry modeling of CHD in TCM is realized in this paper,providing effective reference for the diagnosis of CHD and analysis of other multi-label data.

Measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution (MDI-QKD), leaving the detection procedure to the third partner and thus being immune to all detector side-channel attacks, is very promising for the construction of high-security quantum information networks. We propose a scheme to implement MDI-QKD, but with continuous variables instead of discrete ones, i.e., with the source of Gaussian-modulated coherent states, based on the principle of continuous-variable entanglement swapping. This protocol not only can be implemented with current telecom components but also has high key rates compared to its discrete counterpart; thus it will be highly compatible with quantum networks.

Improving the use of energy resources has been a great challenge in the last years. A new complex scenario involving a decentralized bidirectional communication between energy suppliers, distribution system and consumption is nowadays becoming reality. Sometimes cited as the largest and most complex machine ever built, Electric Grids (EG) are been transformed into Smart Grids (SG). Hence, the load forecasting problem has become more difficulty and more autonomous load predictors are needed in this new conjecture. In this paper a novel method, so-called MSES, bio-inspired by Evolution Strategies (ES) combined with Multi-Start (MS) procedure is described. This procedure is mainly based on a self-adaptive algorithm to calibrate the parameters of the fuzzy rules. MSES was implemented in C++ via OptFrame framework. Our main goal is to evaluate the performance of this algorithm in a grid environment. Real data from an electric utility have been used in order to test the proposed methodology. The obtained results are fully described and analyzed.

The ability to nondestructively detect the presence of a single, traveling photon has been a long-standing goal in optics, with applications in quantum information and measurement. Realizing such a detector is complicated by the fact that photon-photon interactions are typically very weak. At microwave frequencies, very strong effective photon-photon interactions in a waveguide have recently been demonstrated. Here we show how this type of interaction can be used to realize a quantum nondemolition measurement of a single propagating microwave photon. The scheme we propose uses a chain of solid-state three-level systems (transmons) cascaded through circulators which suppress photon backscattering. Our theoretical analysis shows that microwave-photon detection with fidelity around 90% can be realized with existing technologies.

This paper is concerned with the containment control for a group of double-integrator agents with multiple dynamic leaders communicating over heterogeneous networks, i.e., the position and velocity network topologies are modeled by different graphs. Different containment control algorithms are proposed and analyzed for the two cases that the leaders move with the same constant velocity and the same time-varying velocity, respectively. For the former case the sufficient conditions provided for guaranteeing the containment control are structural and thus easy to verify. Though the conditions proposed for the latter case that leaders move with time-varying velocity are algebraic, such algebraic conditions can be satisfied if the position and velocity network topologies among the follower agents are undirected.

In this paper, we proposed an integral imaging (II) system with a Liquid Crystal (LC) prism array to extend the horizontal viewing angles. The experimental results indicated that the viewing angle is successfully extended by two times without any mechanical movement. We believe that the proposed system is promising for future wide viewing integral imaging systems. © 2013 Society for Information Display.

In traditional Delay Tolerant Networks (DTNs), the nodes can take advantage of intermittent contact opportunities to forward messages. However, in noncooperative DTNs, the nodes may be selfish and reluctant to cooperate with each other in message forwarding. Therefore, it is necessary to motivate the nodes to cooperate with each other in such DTNs. The previously proposed incentive mechanisms have obvious limitations such as the security vulnerability. To resolve such kind of drawbacks, in this paper we propose two credit-based rewarding schemes, called earliest path singular rewarding scheme and earliest path cumulative rewarding scheme respectively, to ensure the nodes truthfully forward the messages. The proposed rewarding schemes are incentive compatible. They also ensure that the payment for each delivered message is upper bounded. Furthermore, the proposed rewarding schemes can prevent selfish nodes from having malicious behaviors. Simulations based on the real trace are conducted to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed rewarding schemes. © 2013 IEEE.

Cough Recognition is a valuable classification problem in healthcare. Generally, feature representation contributes a lot to the overall classifying performance. In this paper, a novel feature extraction method, Gammatone Cepstral Coefficients (GTCC), is investigated for cough recognition. The accuracy of GTCC comparing with MFCC is evaluated on a designed cough dataset following a 10 fold cross-validation schemes. Considering the imbalance of that dataset, weighted SVM is applied as the base classifier. The results indicate that GTCC surpass MFCC in modeling cough signals. With combination of GTCC and MFCC, a better performance is achieved. This paper provides a better feature representation prototype in cough recognition. © 2013 IEEE.

Covariance free incremental principal component analysis with exact mean update

Incremental feature extraction is an essential data preprocessing technique for large-scale and streaming data mining. Among various covariance matrix-free Incremental Principal Component Analysis (IPCA) methods, Candid Covariance-free Incremental Principal Component Analysis (CCIPCA) is a state-of-the art algorithm. Since the training samples are required to be centred, CCIPCA applies an approximate centric alignment on the input data, where only the current sample is correctly centred and all historical data are not updated properly. In this paper, we propose a novel centred incremental principal component analysis algorithm with exact historical mean update, where not only the current sample is centred, but also all historical data are updated by the current mean correctly. Compared to CCIPCA, the proposed method converges more quickly, and the performance improvement is especially obvious when the data's inherent covariance is not stable. The experiments on real streaming dataset show that the proposed method is much superior to CCIPCA in convergence speed. © 2013 Binary Information Press.

This paper considers a quantized system with finite-level quantized input computed from quantized measurements (QIQM). The problem of globally asymptotic stability of QIQM system is transferred to the one of an equivalent system depending on a multiplier which is nonnegative and bounded. It is the focus of this paper to discuss the nonnegativity and boundness of the multiplier. A sufficient condition is given for the globally asymptotic stability of QIQM system. Note the main method used here is similar to the one used by Richter and Misawa, in which the uniform quantizer is employed. This paper is the extension of that work to the logarithmic quantization which is more advantage than the uniform one. A numerical simulation is presented at last to show the effectiveness of the main results and the advantage of logarithmic quantization compared to uniform quantization. © 2005-2012 IEEE.
