Federated Learning (FL) is a promising privacy-preserving machine learning paradigm that allows data owners to collaboratively train models while keeping their data localized. Despite its potential, FL faces challenges related to the trustworthiness of both clients and servers, particularly against curious or malicious adversaries. In this paper, we introduce a novel framework named Federated Learning with Low-Dimensional Update Representation and Proximity-Based defense (FLURP), designed to address privacy preservation and resistance to Byzantine attacks in distributed learning environments. FLURP employs LinfSample method, enabling clients to compute the l∞ norm across sliding windows of updates, resulting in a Low-Dimensional Update Representation (LUR). Calculating the shared distance matrix among LURs, rather than updates, significantly reduces the overhead of Secure MultiParty Computation (SMPC) by three orders of magnitude while effectively distinguishing between benign and poisoned updates. Additionally, FLURP integrates a privacy-preserving proximity-based defense mechanism utilizing optimized SMPC protocols to minimize communication rounds. Our experiments demonstrate FLURP’s effectiveness in countering Byzantine adversaries with low communication and runtime overhead. FLURP offers a scalable framework for secure and reliable FL in distributed environments, facilitating its application in scenarios requiring robust data management and security. Neural network-based molecular dynamics (NNMD) simulations incorporating long-range electrostatic interactions have significantly extended the applicability to heterogeneous and ionic systems, enabling effective modeling critical physical phenomena such as protein folding and dipolar surface and maintaining ab initio accuracy. However, neural network inference and long-range force computation remain the major bottlenecks, severely limiting simulation speed. In this paper, we target DPLR, a state-of-the-art NNMD package that supports long-range electrostatics, and propose a set of comprehensive optimizations to enhance computational efficiency. We introduce (1) a hardware-offloaded FFT method to reduce the communication overhead;(2) an overlapping strategy that hides long-range force computations using a single core per node, and (3) a ring-based load balancing method that enables atom-level task evenly redistribution with minimal communication overhead. Experimental results on the Fugaku supercomputer show that our work achieves a 37x performance improvement, reaching a maximum simulation speed of 51 ns/*** Codes 82M37 Copyright © 2025, The Authors. Stochastic modeling approaches have attracted many researchers to the field. However, fire hotspot detection suffers from not using a Markov chain quasi-Monte Carlo (MCQMC) as a forecasting methodology. This paper proposes improvements to the computational time by combining the strengths of the Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) and quasi-Monte Carlo (QMC) methods. The proposed method can lead to more precise and stable results, particularly in problems with high-dimensional integration or complex probability distributions. The proposed method is applied to a case study of fire hotspot detection in Sarawak, Malaysia. The outcome of this study reveals that the MCQMC method is more computationally efficient, taking only 0.0746 seconds compared to MCMC’s 0.0914 seconds and QMC’s 0.0994 seconds. It is shown that the best option derived by the proposed method is effective in predicting fire hotspots and providing quick solutions to protect the environment and communities from forest fires. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

With the development of quantum blockchain, the quantum consensus protocols have garnered increasing attention, which play a crucial role in driving the implementation of quantum blockchains. However, existing protocols, derived from the classical consensus algorithms, face practical application challenges due to current quantum technology limitations. The first challenge is the bottleneck in generating large-scale entangled quantum states. The second challenge arises from the generation of malicious quantum states. The final challenge involves privacy concerns. To address these challenges, we propose a practical iterative QUantum consensus protocol with sharding construction, namely, Q-Union. In fact, Q-Union employs an iterative consensus algorithm where participating nodes are divided into multiple smaller shards, with the consensus process occurring within the current shard, and new shards are involved only if consensus is not achieved. Leveraging Greenberger-Horne- Zeilinge states and Aharonov states, Q-Union harnesses the advantages of quantum mechanics to achieve anonymous consensus, protecting the private information of participating nodes. Additionally, by integrating state verification, Q-Union ensures the correctness of the consensus procedure in the presence of malicious nodes generating adversarial quantum states. Finally, it is proven that Q-Union can also defend against Byzantine attacks from adversarial nodes, maintaining the same security level as traditional non-sharded consensus protocols. Specifically, it consistently outputs the correct consensus when the fraction of adversaries among participating nodes is less than 1/2 with synchronous communication. Both the theoretical analysis and performance illustration demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed Q-Union compared to state-of-the-art protocols. © 1983-2012 IEEE.

The rapid advancement of technology has revolutionized the way organizations operate, resulting in the widespread adoption of Management Information Systems (MIS) as a crucial tool in decision-making processes. This research paper presents a comprehensive review of the effectiveness of Management Information Systems in facilitating decision-making within various organizational contexts. The paper begins with an exploration of the fundamental role of MIS in collecting, processing, and presenting relevant data to decision-makers. Emphasis is placed on understanding how MIS enables the integration of data from diverse sources and transforms it into actionable insights, empowering managers to make informed and timely decisions. Furthermore, this review delves into the different types of Management Information Systems, including Executive Information Systems (EIS), Decision Support Systems (DSS), and Transaction Processing Systems (TPS). By analyzing case studies and real-world examples, the paper highlights the specific applications and benefits of each system type in enhancing decision-making efficiency and accuracy. To assess the effectiveness of MIS in decision-making, the review examines key performance indicators, such as the speed and accuracy of decision-making processes, resource optimization, and overall organizational performance. Solid-SQL: Enhanced Schema-linking based In-context Learning for Robust Text-to-SQL

Recently, large language models (LLMs) have significantly improved the performance of text-to-SQL systems. Nevertheless, many state-of-the-art (SOTA) approaches have overlooked the critical aspect of system robustness. Our experiments reveal that while LLM-driven methods excel on standard datasets, their accuracy is notably compromised when faced with adversarial perturbations. To address this challenge, we propose a robust text-to-SQL solution, called Solid-SQL, designed to integrate with various LLMs. We focus on the pre-processing stage, training a robust schema-linking model enhanced by LLM-based data augmentation. Additionally, we design a two-round, structural similarity-based example retrieval strategy for in-context learning. Our method achieves SOTA SQL execution accuracy levels of 82.1% and 58.9% on the general Spider and Bird benchmarks, respectively. Furthermore, experimental results show that Solid-SQL delivers an average improvement of 11.6% compared to baselines on the perturbed Spider-Syn, Spider-Realistic, and Dr. Spider benchmarks. This paper proposes a modified version of the Dwarf Mongoose Optimization Algorithm (IDMO) for constrained engineering design problems. This optimization technique modifies the base algorithm (DMO) in three simple but effective ways. First, the alpha selection in IDMO differs from the DMO, where evaluating the probability value of each fitness is just a computational overhead and contributes nothing to the quality of the alpha or other group members. The fittest dwarf mongoose is selected as the alpha, and a new operator ω is introduced, which controls the alpha movement, thereby enhancing the exploration ability and exploitability of the IDMO. Second, the scout group movements are modified by randomization to introduce diversity in the search process and explore unvisited areas. Finally, the babysitter's exchange criterium is modified such that once the criterium is met, the babysitters that are exchanged interact with the dwarf mongoose exchanging them to gain information about food sources and sleeping mounds, which could result in better-fitted mongooses instead of initializing them afresh as done in DMO, then the counter is reset to zero. The proposed IDMO was used to solve the classical and CEC 2020 benchmark functions and 12 continuous/discrete engineering optimization problems. The performance of the IDMO, using different performance metrics and statistical analysis, is compared with the DMO and eight other existing algorithms. In most cases, the results show that solutions achieved by the IDMO are better than those obtained by the existing algorithms.

Thisstudy introduces the DeepStreamNet model, an advanced framework for enhancing real-time traffic management in urban environments using adaptive IoT and sophisticated big data analytics. Central to our approach is the integration of convolutional neural networks (CNNs), recurrent neural networks (RNNs), and long short-term memory (LSTM) units, which synergize with IoT devices to facilitate dynamic adaptation to fluctuating traffic conditions. The model excels in operational performance, achieving a notable accuracy of 94.7% in congestion prediction with an exceptionally low latency of only 45 ms per decision cycle and the capability to process up to 50,000 data points per second. These technical achievements have marked significant improvements over traditional traffic management systems, enhancing traffic flow efficiency and reducing congestion effectively. The results underscore the transformative potential of the DeepStreamNet model in urban traffic management and public safety, offering actionable insights for intelligent transportation systems and setting the stage for more informed urban planning. Looking forward, we suggest extending the application of our model to areas such as logistics and broader smart city initiatives, highlighting its adaptability and broad utility in various urban contexts

Dental caries is a distinct disease strategy caused by the metabolic action of dental biofilm, which continually demineralizes lacquer and dentine. Its commonly known as tooth rot, is one of the most prevalent and long- lasting dental illnesses, affecting people at all stages of their lives. There are a few different sorts of dental x-rays, each of which records a different perspective on dental living systems for caries detection and has the highest symptomatic accuracy, whereas panoramic radiography has the lowest Despite this, Bitewing has a few downsides, such as patient unease. Because of the lack of knowledge among administrators, Bitewing imaging frequently results in increased patient radiation exposure as a result of the need for image retakes. On the other hand, panoramic x-ray scans, also known as Orthopantomogram (OPG), are commonly utilized to capture the whole mouth with a small amount of radiation. OPG has a low radiation content, is simple to use, takes less time, and provides exceptional patient comfort. In this way, when compared to intraoral frameworks, pediatric, impaired, and senior people would profit greatly from panoramic imaging frameworks. This research work explores panoramic photos to detect accurate dental disease using deep learning. As a result, most patients can benefit from panoramic imaging, which covers a large portion of the maxillofacial region, including all of the teeth. © 2023 IEEE.
