Cognitive robots are intelligent systems that learn from their environment, adapt to dynamic changes, and make decisions without a human's direct intervention. This research studies the integration of Reinforcement Learning in cognitive robots with Q-Learning for autonomous path planning. The study addresses the most critical issues in traditional A∗ and Dynamic Programming algorithms by devising path-planning techniques, mainly the lack of adaptability and computational efficiency in real-time and unpredictable environments. Our approach is based on Q-Learning, which is a model-free RL algorithm allowing the robots to find paths autonomously by optimizing their paths and avoiding obstacles. The Q-Learning algorithm provides the possibility of learning optimal policies for the robot through iterative interaction with its environment balanced between exploration and exploitation of the decision process. A reward system is utilized by the proposed model, encouraging the robot to explore shorter, collision-free paths and adjust based on feedback in real time from its surroundings. The model was found to be significantly better than its counterparts. In this context, as indicated, the Q-Learning model runs at 11.5 seconds, faster than A∗ at 18.3 seconds and Dynamic Programming at 16.7 seconds, yet with an accuracy of 94% and was found to have the highest collision avoidance rate at 98%. Additionally, the adaptability of the model about the environment presents a marked difference in terms of path length optimization, having done so with a mean path length of 12.3, compared to approaches or models. The robustness and scalability of the Q-Learning model make it highly applicable in real-world applications. © 2024 IEEE.

Women all across the world are affected by the potentially fatal condition known as breast cancer. According to clinical experts, early cancer detection helps to save lives. Several machine learning algorithms have been developed to classify cancers in order to diagnose breast cancer, and medical image processing has been found to be a beneficial area for increasing classification accuracy. One of the most crucial signs for detecting breast cancer early is micro classifications. Machine learning methods have been employed in numerous studies to address this problem. Various classification algorithms are used to find the presence of breast cancer whether it is Benign or Malignant. For earlier cancer detection and diagnosis, an image enhancement approach is being developed. A machine learning technique is employed in this work to attempt to categorize breast cancer. The purpose of the present research was to increase the accuracy of machine learning methods for disease diagnosis using ML techniques. © 2024 IEEE.

Deep learning-based medical image segmentation has seen tremendous progress over the last decade, but there is still relatively little transfer into clinical practice. One of the main barriers is the challenge of domain generalisation, which requires segmentation models to maintain high performance across a wide distribution of image data. This challenge is amplified by the many factors that contribute to the diverse appearance of medical images, such as acquisition conditions and patient characteristics. The impact of shifting patient characteristics such as age and sex on segmentation performance remains relatively under-studied, especially for abdominal organs, despite that this is crucial for ensuring the fairness of the segmentation model. We perform the first study to determine the impact of population shift with respect to age and sex on abdominal CT image segmentation, by leveraging two large public datasets, and introduce a novel metric to quantify the impact. We find that population shift is a challenge similar in magnitude to cross-dataset shift for abdominal organ segmentation, and that the effect is asymmetric and dataset-dependent. We conclude that dataset diversity in terms of known patient characteristics is not necessarily equivalent to dataset diversity in terms of image features. This implies that simple population matching to ensure good generalisation and fairness may be insufficient, and we recommend that fairness research should be directed towards better understanding and quantifying medical image dataset diversity in terms of performance-relevant characteristics such as organ morphology. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Because of the increasing emphasis put on the aviation industry in as a main industry of the global transportation industry, a number of organizations depend on different flight companies to get in touch with parts of the world which may be an effective measure to control the disease from spreading to other areas of the world. However, severe conditions can actually influence airline services in a given area of operation most significantly, flight delays. In this case, service encounters took place between the airline as a large organizational sector and the individual traveling as customers. The working for this issue is to accurately expect such flight delays though enables enhanced performers while in travel in order to be fit for destinations. Disability which will be occasioned by the existence of the aforementioned impediment. Quantum machine learning is used to examine the measures that were used in building models to analyze probability of flights. Problems associated with late and early arrival and;Delays due to unfavorable weather conditions. Cross-domain Named Entity Recognition (CDNER) is crucial for Knowledge Graph (KG) construction and natural language processing (NLP), enabling learning from source to target domains with limited data. Previous studies often rely on manually collected entity-relevant sentences from the web or attempt to bridge the gap between tokens and entity labels across domains. These approaches are time-consuming and inefficient, as these data are often weakly correlated with the target task and require extensive pre-training. To address these issues, we propose automatically generating task-oriented knowledge (GTOK) using large language models (LLMs), focusing on the reasoning process of entity extraction. Then, we employ task-oriented pre-training (TOPT) to facilitate domain adaptation. Additionally, current cross-domain NER methods often lack explicit explanations for their effectiveness. Therefore, we introduce the concept of information density to better evaluate the model's effectiveness before performing entity recognition. We conduct systematic experiments and analyses to demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed approach and the validity of using information density for model evaluation. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.

In this paper, we investigate an accurate synchronization between a physical network and its digital network twin (DNT) that is a virtual representation of the physical network. The considered network includes a physical network where a base station (BS) serves a set of users, and a DNT that evolves with the status of both DNT and the physical network. The BS must use its limited spectrum resources to serve the users, as well as transmit the physical network information to the cloud server for DNT synchronization. Since the DNT can predict the physical network status, the BS may not need to transmit physical network information to the server at each time slot thus saving spectrum resources to serve users. However, if the BS does not transmit physical information to the DNT over a long period of time, the DNT may not be able to represent the physical network accurately. To this end, the BS must determine whether to send physical network information to the server to update DNT and the spectrum resources used for physical network information transmission and serving users. We formulate this resources allocation problem as an optimization problem aiming to maximize the sum of data rates of all users, while minimizing the gap between the states of the physical network and the DNT. The formulated problem is challenging to solve by conventional optimization methods, since the BS may not be able to know the future status of the DNT. To solve this problem, we design a gate recurrent unit (GRU) and soft action-critic (SAC) based algorithm. The GRU enables the DNT to predict its future states by using historical state data, and updating the DNT when the BS does not transmit physical network information. The SAC based algorithm enables the BS to learn the relationship between the physical network information transmission and the future status estimation accuracy of the DNT thus determining whether to transmit physical network information to the cloud server, ensuring an accurac

Attention mechanism has been a successful method for multimodal affective analysis in recent years. Despite the advances, several significant challenges remain in fusing language and its nonverbal context information. One is to generate sparse attention coefficients associated with acoustic and visual modalities, which helps locate critical emotional se-mantics. The other is fusing complementary cross‐modal representation to construct optimal salient feature combinations of multiple modalities. A Conditional Transformer Fusion Network is proposed to handle these problems. Firstly, the authors equip the transformer module with CNN layers to enhance the detection of subtle signal patterns in nonverbal sequences. Secondly, sentiment words are utilised as context conditions to guide the computation of cross‐modal attention. As a result, the located nonverbal fea-tures are not only salient but also complementary to sentiment words directly. Experi-mental results show that the authors’ method achieves state‐of‐the‐art performance on several multimodal affective analysis datasets.

Bounded single depot multiple travelling salesman problem (BSD-MTSP) optimizes salesmen tours with constraints on the number of cities visiting per salesman, which ensures balanced routes. BSD-MTSP presents challenges due to its combinatorial nature and additional complexities arising from multiple salesmen and depot-related constraints. Exact solutions for BSD-MTSP via classical methods are computationally expensive, prompting the use of heuristics and metaheuristics for practical solutions. This paper presents ACSLs, a hybrid algorithm combining initialization heuristic, Ant colony system, and Local search operators. ACSLs efficiently tackles large-scale BSD-MTSPs, demonstrating a superiority of up to 9.964% over the most advanced algorithms through comparative analysis. © 2024 IEEE.

Federated Learning, a disruptive and novel aspect of machine learning, is at the forefront of decentralized, privacy-conscious data processing. This in-depth review study navigates the complex environment of Federated Learning Ecosystems, attempting to extract the core of the topic while shining light on its research horizons, pressing difficulties, and promising approaches. Our trip begins with a look at the fundamental concepts of Federated Learning, emphasizing its importance in the landscape of distributed machine learning paradigms. We track its development via historical milestones and key contributions, offering context for the field's increasing research. This study focuses on the many features of Federated Learning research, including privacy-preserving techniques, communication protocols, aggregation approaches, and real-world applications. We aggregate major results and advances within these domains, highlighting notable authors and their contributions. However, the route to Federated Learning's full fulfillment is plagued with difficulties, including questions about privacy, communication efficiency, and scalability. In the future, we will enlighten the growing paths of Federated Learning research, forecasting trends, providing insights into overcoming present problems, and visualizing its integration into diverse fields. Smart homes have surfaced as the coming wave of technological advancement.
