Flight delays are the most pressing cause of concern in the airline sector because they can weaken and harm airlines, passengers, and airports. Flight delay prediction has become an essential step in decision-making processes within commercial aviation. Due to the developments of recent technologies, there are many prediction models for flight delays;however, more development of accurate prediction models is still needed. Machine learning, statistical models, and other techniques can be used to create quick and accurate flight delay prediction models. Furthermore, methods for feature selection can be developed to get rid of dimensionality issues. This study aimed to compare four classification algorithms using "big data analytics" to predict flight delays, a function that can improve the whole airline sector. The selected classification algorithms were the "Gaussian Naïve Bayes," "Gradient Boosted Tree" classifier, "Logistic Regression," and "Random Forest" classifier. Many assessment techniques were applied to each one of the suggested models to show the better performance of these models. The comparison used the resulting confusion matrix to summarize prediction results for the following classification problems: "F1 Score", "Accuracy," "Recall," "Precision," "Area Under ROC," and "Area Under PR." The assessment results showed the enhanced outcomes of the "Gradient Boosted Tree" Classifier with existing techniques, and all results of "Logistic Regression" and "Naïve Bayes" are equal. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

High-accuracy face recognition with the MRYOLO-SCO algorithm: combining residual networks and YOLOv2 for improved precision

Face recognition in real-world scenarios presents significant challenges due to variations in lighting conditions, occlusions, pose changes, and low-resolution images. To address these challenges, this study proposes a Modified Residual YOLO Network-based Single Candidate Optimization algorithm, which integrates a Modified Residual Network with YOLOv2 to improve recognition accuracy while maintaining computational efficiency. Unlike conventional YOLO models, the proposed framework introduces bipolar feature extraction, enabling the network to capture both high-level global features and low-level local details, thus improving robustness against occlusions and illumination variations. Atailored cost function is introduced to minimize bounding box localization errors and classification inaccuracies, incorporating weighted penalties to enhance model precision. Additionally, a Single Candidate Optimization algorithm is employed to fine-tune hyperparameters, ensuring faster convergence and lower computational complexity. The performance of the proposed technique is evaluated using the benchmark datasets and the simulation results that the proposed framework outperforms existing YOLO-based models, achieving an accuracy of 98.8%, a recall of 98.0%, and an F1-score of 98.1%while maintainingalower computational cost than YOLOv3, YOLOv4, and YOLOv5. The experimental results also indicate that the tailored cost function reduces misclassification errors by 6.1% and accelerates convergence by 20%, making the proposed framework highly suitable for real-time face recognition applications in resource-constrained environmentssuch asIoT-based surveillance and smart security systems. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2025.

To enhance the manufacturing flexibility, resilience, and production efficiency, the integration of scheduling for distributed manufacturing with assembly systems has become a pivotal driver of production planning evolution. In this research endeavour, we present a Mixed-Integer Linear Programming model and an innovative Iterated Epsilon-Greedy Reinforcement Learning algorithm to address the distributed assembly hybrid flowshop scheduling problem. Empirical validation, conducted through computational experiments on a benchmark problem set, is used to gain important managerial insights. The computational results demonstrate that the proposed algorithms significantly reduce the makespan for the addressed problem. This study has the potential to make valuable contributions to ongoing research endeavours within the realm of multi-stage shop scheduling, an area that continues to warrant progressive advancement. © 2024 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Researchers have recently created several deep learning strategies for various tasks, and facial recognition has made remarkable progress in employing these techniques. Face recognition is a noncontact, nonobligatory, acceptable, and harmonious biometric recognition method with a promising national and social security future. The purpose of this paper is to improve the existing face recognition algorithm, investigate extensive data-driven face recognition methods, and propose a unique automated face recognition methodology based on generative adversarial networks (GANs) and the center symmetric multivariable local binary pattern (CS-MLBP). To begin, this paper employs the center symmetric multivariant local binary pattern (CS-MLBP) algorithm to extract the texture features of the face, addressing the issue that C2DPCA (column-based two-dimensional principle component analysis) does an excellent job of removing the global characteristics of the face but struggles to process the local features of the face under large samples. The extracted texture features are combined with the international features retrieved using C2DPCA to generate a multifeatured face. The proposed method, GAN-CS-MLBP, syndicates the power of GAN with the robustness of CS-MLBP, resulting in an accurate and efficient face recognition system. Deep learning algorithms, mainly neural networks, automatically extract discriminative properties from facial images. The learned features capture low-level information and high-level meanings, permitting the model to distinguish among dissimilar persons more successfully. To assess the proposed technique’s GAN-CS-MLBP performance, extensive experiments are performed on benchmark face recognition datasets such as LFW, YTF, and CASIA-WebFace. With the advancement of technologies, different methods are currently being used for converting spoken language into text. These systems offer a hands-free alternative to traditional input methods, especially for individuals with physical disabilities or those requiring efficient documentation of spoken content. The goal of this study is to review recent advancements in this field and highlight gaps in current research, with a focus on accuracy, language adaptability, ease of use, and the integration of various technologies. Quantum computing is progressing at a fast rate and there is a real threat that classical cryptographic methods can be compromised and therefore impact the security of blockchain networks. All of the ways used to secure blockchain like Rivest–Shamir–Adleman (RSA), Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) and Secure Hash Algorithm 256-bit (SHA256) are the characteristic of the traditional cryptographic techniques vulnerable to attack by quantum algorithms: Shor’s and Grover’s algorithms: can efficiently break asymmetric encryption and speed up brute force attacks. Because of this vulnerability, there exists a need to develop an advance quantum resilient blockchain framework to protect the decentralized ledgers from the future threats of the quantum. This research proposes Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC), Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and Quantum Random Number Generation (QRNG) as a formidable architectural integration, to fortify security of blockchain. Classical encryption is replaced with PQC, QKD with secure key exchange by detecting eavesdropping, and QRNG with improving cryptographic randomness to remove the predictable key vulnerability. Only with a small loss of transaction efficiency, we increase transaction encryption accuracy, key exchange security, and resistance to quantum attacks. In this quantum enhanced blockchain design, the idea is to preserve the decentralization, transparency and security and at the same time overcome the future quantum threat. By going through rigorous analysis and comparative evaluation, we demonstrate that the approach saves blockchain networks from the emerging quantum risks to make sure that the decentralized finance, smart contracts and cross chain transactions. © (2025), (Science and Information Organization). Since most communications in vehicular networks rely on wireless transmissions, information broadcast by vehicles is highly susceptible to interception and eavesdropping by third parties, making it vulnerable to various attacks. This can result in communication messages being tampered with and the leakage of vehicle locations and identity privacy. From a security perspective, this paper introduces Yao's garbled circuit mechanism, combining random bytes with the solutions of linear equations as identity information assigned to vehicle nodes. By employing dual authentication, the proposed approach addresses issues such as privacy protection, anonymity, replay attacks, and collusion attacks in vehicular networks, thereby enhancing security. Moreover, considering the post-authentication access control scenario, this paper proposes a novel LSSS matrix transformation algorithm for ciphertext hidden access control strategy. It realizes a partially hidden policy, which makes matrix generation more efficient by supporting both AND and OR gates, thus improving the access control efficiency while ensuring security. Performance analysis indicates that in terms of identity authentication, the scheme reduces computational costs by an average of 96.25%, and in access control, the scheme reduces key generation time by an average of 80%. The HVAC system, energy storage building, distributed power supply, and other equipment are integrated into the scheduling algorithm, which is aimed at reducing household electricity consumption. It is also assumed that users can provide energy to the grid according to their own conditions. Taking electricity cost and comfort level as optimization targets, a home energy optimization control model for the coordinated management of hybrid energy sources is built. A smart scheduling mechanism based on the improved adaptive particle swarm optimization approach is proposed in order to derive the best time intervals for electric appliances, necessary power for the control of the room temperature for every time frame, and power for charging and discharging of the storage battery at various moments. Simulation results show that through the incorporation of distributed photovoltaic power generation, backup storage by battery, and home energy optimization control, the system efficiently balances between user comfort and electricity consumption. This offers great technical support to the development of home energy management systems. By using time-of-use electricity price for energy acquisition and supply, the optimization control goal is minimizing both power use and cost as well as preserving comfort levels. The hybrid energy management's proposed home energy optimization control model uses an adaptive particle swarm optimization algorithm to find the optimal operation schedules of the electrical appliances, the required power for temperature control in a room, and the charge/discharge power level of the storage battery at each time interval. As per the optimization principle, the proposed dynamic programming algorithm converts the multi-stage problem into a sequence of single-stage problems and solves them separately. Speech categorisation is a broad study that has attracted a lot of interest recently. Understanding other people's emotions and responding appropriately is the largest distinction between robots and people. Speech signals are categorised in this article using both conventional machine learning methods and deep learning algorithms. Speech emotion is categorised using the interactive emotional binary motion capture (IEMOCAP) and Ryerson affective voice and audio-visual database of songs (RAVDESS) databases. The expanded dataset is mixed with the voice signals once they have been transformed into spectrograms. This model incorporates CNN + LSTM, attention, and a novel type of spectrogram frequency distribution based on the spectrogram’s properties.
