The routing protocol known as RPL is employed in low power and lossy networks. It makes use of an objective function (OF) to establish a Destination Oriented Directed Acyclic Graph (DODAG) and ascertain the most suitable parental candidate or trip route. Nevertheless, the task of identifying a suitable OF in Low Power and Lossy networks (LLN) is a significant challenge. The RPL was intentionally designed to possess a high degree of flexibility, allowing for the construction of routing topologies without imposing any specific routing metric or constraint. This design choice was made to accommodate the diverse range of LLN that exist. This study provides a critical overview of recent literature pertaining to the topic of RPL and specifically focuses on the many strategies aimed at enhancing OF inside the RPL protocol. The objective of this study is to provide an analysis of relevant endeavors, including the development of innovative metrics and the application of fuzzy logic techniques in the combination of OF metrics. Furthermore, this paper discusses the recommended augmentation strategies, as well as constraints and future development directions. The research community can employ the findings to gain a deeper comprehension of objective functions and improve the performance of RPL in the face of security problems. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Synthetic data is gaining rapid importance in many application domains due to privacy issues, bias, lack, or simply unavailability of real data. It is important that the synthetic data be a good representation of real data for successfully completing the task at hand. Thus, devising characteristic validation metrics is crucial and remains an open problem in many domains (e.g., image generation). Good validation metrics must be able to disentangle the differences between the quality and the variability coverage of the synthetic data. We propose to use a 3-dimensional metric (precision α, recall β, coverage γ) to describe the fidelity and diversity of the synthetic data. In this paper, we improve on existing definitions of precision, recall, and coverage to extend to large scale time series data. Traditional nearest neighbor manifolds from the literature are replaced by unsupervised learning techniques such as clustering to deal with large scale fine resolution time series while computing the validation metrics. The proposed metrics are employed to validate synthetic data in the domain of residential energy demand. In addition, we extend these definitions to datasets that have a natural hierarchical structure. We propose a hierarchical data-tree model in which precision, recall, and coverage can be computed at multiple inherent (and/or custom) levels of groupings of the data. © 2022 IEEE.

The exponential growth of Internet and network usage has neces-sitated heightened security measures to protect against data and network ***,executed through network packets,pose a significant challenge for firewalls to detect and prevent due to the similarity between legit-imate and intrusion *** vast network traffic volume also complicates most network monitoring systems and *** intrusion detection methods have been proposed,with machine learning techniques regarded as promising for dealing with these *** study presents an Intrusion Detection System Based on Stacking Ensemble Learning base(Random For-est,Decision Tree,and k-Nearest-Neighbors).The proposed system employs pre-processing techniques to enhance classification efficiency and integrates seven machine learning *** stacking ensemble technique increases performance by incorporating three base models(Random Forest,Decision Tree,and k-Nearest-Neighbors)and a meta-model represented by the Logistic Regression *** using the UNSW-NB15 dataset,the pro-posed IDS gained an accuracy of 96.16%in the training phase and 97.95%in the testing phase,with precision of 97.78%,and 98.40%for taring and testing,*** obtained results demonstrate improvements in other measurement criteria.

Pushing artificial intelligence(AI) from central cloud to network edge has reached board consensus in both industry and academia for materializing the vision of artificial intelligence of things(AIoT) in the sixth-generation(6G) era. This gives rise to an emerging research area known as edge intelligence, which concerns the distillation of human-like intelligence from the vast amount of data scattered at the wireless network edge. Typically, realizing edge intelligence corresponds to the processes of sensing, communication,and computation, which are coupled ingredients for data generation, exchanging, and processing, ***, conventional wireless networks design the three mentioned ingredients separately in a task-agnostic manner, which leads to difficulties in accommodating the stringent demands of ultra-low latency, ultra-high reliability, and high capacity in emerging AI applications like auto-driving and metaverse. This thus prompts a new design paradigm of seamlessly integrated sensing, communication, and computation(ISCC) in a taskoriented manner, which comprehensively accounts for the use of the data in downstream AI tasks. In view of its growing interest, this study provides a timely overview of ISCC for edge intelligence by introducing its basic concept, design challenges, and enabling techniques, surveying the state-of-the-art advancements, and shedding light on the road ahead.

In this paper, the problem of collaborative vehicle sensing is investigated. In the considered model, a set of cooperative vehicles provide sensing information to sensing request vehicles with limited sensing and communication resources. A base station (BS) determines the subset of sensing request vehicles that each cooperative vehicle will serve and the sub-regions that each cooperative vehicle will detect. We formulate an optimization problem aiming to maximize the number of successfully detected sub-regions of sensing request vehicles while satisfying the cooperative sensing energy requirement by jointly determining the cooperative vehicle association and the sensing sub-region selection. To solve this problem, we propose a graph attention based reinforcement learning (RL) algorithm that can generate the graph information vectors based on the correlation between each cooperative vehicle and each sensing request vehicle. Using the learned graph information, the joint cooperative vehicle association and sensing sub-region selection strategy will be determined. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can improve the number of successfully detected sub-regions of sensing request vehicles by up to 12.5% compared to the conventional RL algorithm without using graph attention networks (GANs). © 2024 IEEE.

Using active queries to infer symmetric node functions of graph dynamical systems

Developing techniques to infer the behavior of networked social systems has attracted a lot of attention in the literature. Using a discrete dynamical system to model a networked social system, the problem of inferring the behavior of the system can be formulated as the problem of learning the local functions of the dynamical system. We investigate the problem assuming an active form of interaction with the system through queries. We consider two classes of local functions (namely, symmetric and threshold functions) and two interaction modes, namely batch (where all the queries must be submitted together) and adaptive (where the set of queries submitted at a stage may rely on the answers to previous queries). We establish bounds on the number of queries under both batch and adaptive query modes using vertex coloring and probabilistic methods. Our results show that a small number of appropriately chosen queries are provably sufficient to correctly learn all the local functions. We develop complexity results which suggest that, in general, the problem of generating query sets of minimum size is computationally intractable. We present efficient heuristics that produce query sets under both batch and adaptive query modes. Also, we present a query compaction algorithm that identifies and removes redundant queries from a given query set. Our algorithms were evaluated through experiments on over 20 well-known networks.

We developed an Authentic GeometryGo (AGG) app to help students application of geometry in authentic contexts through authentic measurements and peer assessments. The study included an experimental group (EG) using an AGG app and a control group (CG) using paper-based methods. The results showed that the EG outperformed the CG in terms of estimation. Measuring authentic geometry shapes using the app could foster students' estimation. Furthermore, meaningful peer assessments with visual representations in authentic contexts can facilitate the evaluation of peers' work and improve students' geometry understanding. Therefore, we encourage educators to use augmented reality with appropriate learning activities to sharpen students' measurement quality and visual representations by measuring real geometry shapes and applying mathematics knowledge in authentic contexts. © 2008-2011 IEEE.

Large language models (LLMs) have garnered significant attention lately, and one particular implementation that has captivated users is ChatGPT, a first-of-its kind innovation that sparks intense debates among professionals regarding its ethical boundaries, especially after it was released for public use. Some of the debates are ongoing, with several people getting more used to this tool and some losing touch with several ethical concerns. Thus, it is crucial to explore the early professional’s perspectives surrounding ChatGPT to comprehend its potential impact on the educational sector and, in particular, society in general. This research aims to address this knowledge gap by employing data mining techniques on LinkedIn to analyze ChatGPT-related discussions and provide a comprehensive textual examination. The dataset for this investigation consists of 166 records written in English by LinkedIn users discussing ChatGPT in its early stage. The study utilized VOSviewer software to clean, analyze, mine, and visualize the data. Among the sample, it was observed that 49% of the users are PhD holders, predominantly with experience in scientific research and data science fields. Hence, the findings reveal that issues such as plagiarism, references, citations, manuscripts, papers, and literature reviews stand out as the major concerns. These results suggest that while ChatGPT can contribute to academic progress by fostering new knowledge, thoughts, and ideas, it can also facilitate academic misconduct, including plagiarism and inaccurate information dissemination. Therefore, this paper also provides discussions on the implications and ethical issues of ChatGPT. In particular, it is imperative to establish clear ethical boundaries and guidelines for the appropriate use of LLMs in academic settings. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2024.
