NFC is one of the latest wireless communication technologies, making possible variety of business opportunities. StoLPaN, a pan-European consortium of companies, universities and user groups aims to define open commercial and technical frameworks for the remote management of NFC-enabled services on mobile devices. These frameworks will facilitate the deployment of NFC-enabled mobile applications regardless of the phone type and the nature of the services required. This paper describes the latest results of StoLPan consortium, the technical and business challenges of the NFC service development, interesting findings about the current issues of the NFC market, and a summary about the StoLPan application framework containing NFC technological details. Application opportunities of NFC services in the retail environment are also introduced.

Graph theory plays a key role in the field of prediction of protein structure. In this paper, we proposed a new method of protein secondary structure predict based on the path with the maximum weight of a graph. Three vertices of the graph give a possible secondary structure of a protein, and each edge of the graph is assigned a weight by a function. The path with the maximum weight equated the corrected secondary structure. By this method, we tested against several groups proteins and showed that this method was feasible. Finally we discussed the selection of parameters in this method.

A fuzzy model based on support vector regression (SVR) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) for the property prediction of heat treatment process of alloy steels is presented in this paper. First, a SVR model is built and the parameters of SVR are optimized by using the grid optimization algorithm, a set of equivalent fuzzy IF-THEN rules is generated from the obtained support vectors, then PSO is utilized to obtain a optimal fuzzy model with reduced rule (support vector) which approximate pre images of the original SVR model. The proposed modeling approach has been used for the mechanical property prediction in hot-rolled steels. Preliminary results reveal that the proposed modelling approach can lead to accurate and flexible fuzzy models.

Although network security situation (NSS) becomes a hot topic, the investigation on situation awareness (SA) still lacks an approbatory standard. Based on Endsley's research, the paper presents a scalable NSS model, and improves situation extraction (SE) to fit the network environment. The proposed model utilizes knowledge bases to standardize the situation acquisition and model the situation as an entity. The incident frequency, incident time, and space information are contained in the model, and the situation acquisition is simplified. Finally, the simulation results prove the model's feasibility and efficiency.

This paper is trying to build up the theoretical four-pole matrices for the single-chamber mufflers equipped with side inlet/outlet duct. In addition, by using the BEM simulation and the experimental works on silencers, the accuracy of above theoretical solution can be verified and reassured, accordingly. Moreover, applying the numerical optimizations of genetic algorithm (GA) and three kinds of mathematic gradient method - interior penalty function method (IPFM), exterior penalty function method (EPFM) and feasible direction method (FDM), the optimal design of silencers under constrained space can then be achieved. In this paper, considering the flowing effect, the theoretical scalar function of muffler's noise reduction is firstly deduced by using four-pole matrices method on the basis of one- dimensional plane wave theorem. Moreover, a numerical case of muffler's shape optimization in dealing with the elimination of pure tone noise of 500 Hz under space constraints is introduced. Before optimizations being performed, the effective design variables can be selected by the computer-aided sensitivity analysis of design parameters in Matlab package. Besides, the starting points have been initialized first and then later taken into the Gradient methods for further optimization. By using Gradient Methods and GA Method, several better design data are obtained. Consequently, the best design parameter with highest STL may be determined within them.

In this paper, a method to coordinate multi-decentralized model predictive controllers(DMMPC), which is used as a strategy to control the integrated plant through decomposing the total system model into different functional sub-models, is proposed. Usually, an integrated plant is also called a large scale systems. The main aim is to relieve the expensive computation load and for improving the flexibility and reliability for operation. How to control and coordinate the possible dynamic coupling and constraints among subsystems has already become an important problem. In order to accomplish the overall objective, coordinating the relationship between optimizer located in upper layer and multi-decentralized MPC controllers located in down layer is a challenging work. A stochastic probability density functions(PDFs) coordination rule is applied to coordinate optimizer with decentralized MPC controllers in the hierarchical control structure. This approach provides the guarantee that local optimal solutions for dominant controlled variables approximate their global optimal solutions under considering uncertainties and interactions among subunits on closed-loop stability condition. As a study case, an integrated plant which consists of two subunits connected via other process and some intermediate tanks under severe constraints while considering maximization economic performance is used to demonstrate feasibility and efficiency of this framework.

This study presents an effective system for detecting and tracking moving vehicles in nighttime traffic scene for traffic surveillance. The proposed method identifies vehicles based on detecting and locating vehicle headlights and taillights by using the techniques of image segmentation and pattern analysis. First, to effectively extract bright objects of interest, a fast bright-object segmentation process based on automatic multilevel histogram thresholding is applied on the nighttime road-scene images. This automatic multilevel thresholding approach can provide robustness and adaptability for the detection system to be operated well under various illumination conditions at night. The extracted bright objects are processed by a spatial clustering and tracking procedure by locating and analyzing the spatial and temporal features of vehicle light patterns, and then identifying and classifying the moving cars and motorbikes in the traffic scenes. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach is feasible and effective for vehicle detection and identification in various nighttime environments for traffic surveillance.
