In urban environments, complex transportation demands, including land, air, and maritime transport, are increasingly growing. While significant advancements have been made in land transportation and autonomous driving, research on urban air mobility (UAM) systems is still in its early stages. This paper presents an innovative urban air unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) framework: AirVista, which is designed and built based on the Artificial systems, Computational experiments, and Parallel execution (ACP) approach, integrated with a multimodal large language model (MLLM) agent. Considering that UAM tasks often require UAVs to possess fine-grained spatial perception and reasoning capabilities, and given that existing MLLMs are somewhat lacking in exploring 3D spaces, this paper further proposes an instruction fine-tuning strategy integrated with 3D spatial knowledge, which has been validated experimentally for its effectiveness. Additionally, to enhance the understanding of the efficiency of MLLM for UAV tasks, this paper delves into prompt fine-tuning templates tailored for UAV task decomposition. Through experimental demonstrations, we showcase that the prompt-tuned MLLM exhibits efficient task decomposition and execution capabilities in handling complex UAV tasks. © 2024 IEEE.

As part of the fourth industrial revolution, data analysis and artificial intelligence are being integrated into production processes. In addition, energy consumption and CO2 costs are becoming decisive factors in the resource-oriented management of companies. For energy intensive and hybrid production processes a simulation-based decision support system (DSS) for production planning is validated and further developed for the sand lime brick industry to support the production planning process. The integration of empirical knowledge in the energy-intensive control of steam processes, in which quality-critical product parameters are set via thermodynamically complex relationships, is still part of current research approaches. In this paper, an approach for the mapping of an energetic system behavior in the energy-intensive and hybrid production processes will be discussed using the example of calcium silicate brick (CSB) production. Possibilities for using Discrete event simulation (DES) to increase the energy efficiency of steam processes are summarized and linked to formalized empirical knowledge in artificial Intelligence (AI) approaches. © The Author(s) 2025.

Equilibrium-Independent control of Continuous-Time Nonlinear systems Via the LPV Framework

In this paper, we consider the analysis and control of continuous-time nonlinear systems to ensure universal shifted stability and performance, i.e., stability and performance w.r.t. each forced equilibrium point of the system. This "equilibrium-free"concept is especially beneficial for control problems that require the tracking of setpoints and rejection of persistent disturbances, such as input loads. In this paper, we show how the velocity form, i.e., the time-differentiated dynamics of the system, plays a crucial role in characterizing these properties and how the analysis of it can be solved by the application of Linear Parameter-Varying (LPV) methods in a computationally efficient manner. Furthermore, by leveraging the properties of the velocity form and the LPV framework, a novel controller synthesis method is presented which ensures closed-loop universal shifted stability and performance. The proposed controller design is verified experimentally on a real system. Additionally, we compare the proposed method to a standard LPV control design, demonstrating the improved stability and performance guarantees of the new approach. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Sandwich constructions with metallic honeycomb cores are used in numerous mechanical applications, especially in aerospace, where high explicit modulus or solidity to weight ratios are needed. Square honeycomb sandwich panels are easier to make than hexagonal ones. There is also evidence that square honeycomb sandwich panels have a greater structural integrity-to-weight ratio. Scholarly research on square honeycomb sandwich boards has focused on predicting the structure's response to shear, twisting, in-plane and out- of-plane strain, and dynamic shots. This study compares experimental models of square metallic honeycomb collapse under a three-point twist. Disillusioned curiosity can be shown through face-clasping, face-yielding, center- clasping, and center-yielding. Scientists compare their hypotheses to traditional views that suggest a clash between the minute and fact sheets, the shear and the centre. These tools measure face sheet shear stress and rotating minute centre pressure. The section that deviates from the central region becomes more important as it thickens. Limited component research evaluates explanatory models. The major goals of post-processing limited component models are to understand neighbourhood yielding and locking inside the structure and to examine how adjacent disappointment affects honeycomb power migration. Parametric analysis using multiple honeycomb structures was used to test disappointment ideas. We aim to create separate explanatory frameworks that can anticipate discontentment across stacking levels, geometries, and relative densities. Diagnostic models are combined with key improvement ideas to help architects choose materials and geometry under implementation constraints. © 2023 IEEE.

Phase dynamics of noise-induced coherent oscillations in excitable systems

Noise can induce coherent oscillations in excitable systems without periodic orbits. Here, we establish a method to derive a hybrid system approximating the noise-induced coherent oscillations in excitable systems and further perform phase reduction of the hybrid system to derive an effective, dimensionality-reduced phase equation. We apply the reduced phase model to a periodically forced excitable system and two-coupled excitable systems, both undergoing noise-induced oscillations. The reduced phase model can quantitatively predict the entrainment of a single system to the periodic force and the mutual synchronization of two coupled systems, including the phase slipping behavior due to noise, as verified by Monte Carlo simulations. The derived phase model gives a simple and efficient description of noise-induced oscillations and can be applied to the analysis of more general cases.

The paper investigates the problem of adaptive finite-time robust stabilization for a set of high-order uncertain nonlinear systems in the presence of asymmetric output constraint, dynamic uncertainty and complicated external disturbances. Via effectively integrating the artful Barrier Lyapunov Function (BLF) in conjunction with the continuous control armed with a serial of integral functions consisting of embedded sign operations, a continuous controller is generated, which promises that the closed-loop system's states converge to a compact set within finite time whilst preserving the validity of the output constraint. Preferable to the current techniques, the suggested methodology unifies the construct and theoretical evaluation for the constrained and unconstrained output as well as being able to concurrently handle the output asymmetric constraints, zero dynamics and complex external disturbances. Finally, an instance of simulation is included to illustrate the validity of the established methodology. © 2013 IEEE.

Anomaly detection from medical images is badly needed for automated diagnosis. For example, medical images obtained with several modalities, such as magnetic resonance (MR) and confocal microscopy, need to be classified for anomaly detection. The MR images may contain tumors that need to be detected with anomaly detection techniques. In MR imaging, brain tumors are represented as areas composed of abnormal cells that need to be detected. On the other hand, confocal microscopy can be used for retinal imaging. Hence, there is a need to apply classification techniques for diagnosing diseases of the eye, such as Diabetic Retinopathy (DR), which leads to exudates in different regions of the retina. The detection of exudates is necessary for the diagnosis of DR. In this paper, two models are presented for the classification of MR and retinal images. Much research has been done in this area, but it did not achieve high accuracy of classification in an acceptable time. In addition, the previous models did not consider both types of image modalities considered in this paper. The suggested models are Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Convolutional Long Short-Term Memory (Conv-LSTM). They are used to classify normal and abnormal cases of both brain tumor and DR diseases. The CNN model is composed of six convolutional layers and six max-pooling layers. A soft-max activation function takes the classification decision. The proposed Conv-LSTM model is composed of three stages: pre-processing, feature extraction, and classification. The deep learning model performance is better than those of traditional networks. The CNN gives an accuracy of 94.26% for DR classification and 95.8% for brain tumor classification, while the Conv-LSTM gives the maximum accuracy of 96.41% for DR classification and 97.4% for brain tumor classification. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Accurate and robust geo-localization in all-weather conditions is essential for enabling autonomous vehicles and delivery robots to offer uninterrupted mobility services in the real world. In this paper, we propose the first camera and radar fusion based geo-localisation method that is robust to all-weather conditions. The core of the proposed method is to leverage the rich semantics information in images and sensing consistency in radars across all-weather. Our proposed method surpasses the state of the art camera-based and LiDAR-camera based methods in inclement weather conditions, shown by extensive comparative experiments. Notably, our approach requires only an open accessible map, eliminating the need for high-definition maps and offering a cost-effective solution for geo-localizing or globally localizing autonomous vehicles in any weather condition. Our code and trained model will be released publicly.

The increasing number of distributed generation in the power system raises the need for fast and scalable distributed control algorithms. This paper proposes a distributed model predictive control for secondary frequency control that models the dynamics within a grid area in detail while considering the dynamics of other areas through a system equivalent. Consistency of the control solution is ensured by the distributed optimization algorithm. The controller adapts to changing system conditions through the measurement of the equivalent system impedance at the boundary bus. A measurement using a wideband-frequency impedance device followed by complex-curve fitting is used to extract the transfer function of the grid impedance. Furthermore, only aggregated information from other grid areas is required by the algorithm, reducing vulnerability and increasing the privacy of each area. The performance of the distributed model predictive controller is verified through numerical simulations. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, we consider a programmer who needs to develop an agent to publish information on different existing social networks. Several works in the literature allow the interaction of agents with a social network, but as far as we know, they are not focused on the interaction with several networks. Considering this problem, the paper highlights two options the programmer can take to enable the agent to interact with existing social networks and achieve its goal. The first option requires that the programmer knows the features present in the APIs used to interact with social networks, and the consequences that the functions can bring when executed in the system. The second option uses the institutional notion of purpose aiming to reduce the amount of previous knowledge required by the programmer. The paper aims to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of these options considering the development of open multi-agent system.
