Feature selection has been a key technique in massive data processing, e.g. microarray data analysis with few samples but high dimensions. One common problem in multi-class data analysis is the unbalanced recognition accuracies among classes, which leads to poor system performance. One main reason is that most feature selection methods focus on the performance of whole dataset while pay little attention to single class (especially the minority class). In this paper, a novel hybrid feature selection method with Pairwise-class and All-class techniques (namely FSPA) is proposed to remedy the problem. Strategy of round-robin is embedded into FSPA to reduce the bias among classes. Experimental results on four public microarray datasets show that FSPA helps to achieve higher classification accuracy and balance the performance among classes.

Actuators based on magnetorheological fluids have already been realized with a coupling function due to their special advantages, such as a fast response time and an excellent controllability of torque. In this paper novel concepts for integrated designs of MRF based clutches in combination with a shiftable electromotive actuator are presented. For an optimized use of the design space both functionalities, clutch and drive function, can be controlled widely independent by a suitable modulation of the magnetic field generated by one common magnetic excitation system. Measurement results of a realized proof-of-concept prototype demonstrate the possibilities of combining both functions in one actuator and show the potential of such a highly integrated mechatronic device.

This paper describes the design of the solution of the 3rd generation of the robot-soccer strategy system for the VŠB-TU Ostrava robot-soccer team. In this generation, we tried to completely redesign our system, implement and evaluate new, popular or advanced technologies. We divided the strategy system into two parts: the higher strategy, which makes decisions about the robots' goals, and the lower strategy, which controls the motion of the robot. The motion control is based on computing and following of trajectory. Higher strategies are built on evaluation, recognition, and performance of user defined scenarios. An additional part of the system, - the manual computer-assisted control of robots - is also described.

To avoid falling into local optimum solution and improve global optimum efficiency and accuracy of particle swarm optimization, a novel particle swarm optimization model with centroid of population is proposed, which can enhance inter-particle cooperation and information sharing capabilities effectively, then the guidelines of parameter selection are obtained in the case of convergence of the new model. This paper proves the uniform continuity of the value function for exit time optimal control problems of hybrid systems with autonomous and controlled transitions. By extending conditions already used for purely continuous systems the paper provides the ground for numerical algorithms for dynamic programming of hybrid systems. Transversality conditions for the continuous dynamics at the guard set boundaries ensure that the continuity property of the value function is not altered by a discrete transition of the hybrid system.

This paper describes the software environment for computer assisted design of three-phase squirrel cage induction machines. The finite element method is used as a computational technique to account for detailed geometrical properties, skew, material nonlinearity and deep-bar effect. The system enables determination of all electromagnetic quantities that are usually of interest of the designers of electrical machines. Besides of that it enables the design optimization. The design of experiment is used as a principal method. Sample results of calculations compared with measurements and sample design optimization are presented.
