The paper presents the calculation of the magnetic field in the arcing chamber of the current-limiting circuit breaker of the direct current 1250 A, 750 V. Current-limiting circuit breakers play an important role in electrical low-voltage circuits. Due to the high short-circuit currents it is necessary a very short time to switch off the defective branch. For this the current limiting circuit breakers are conceived as elaborated solutions especially for the arc quenching system, meaning the path of current and the arcing chamber. In this paper the authors present few optimization solutions of some quenching systems which will lead to more performing constructive choices. The finite element software package ANSYS is use for calculation of the magnetic field components.

The experiments aimed to compare data driven models for the valuation of residential premises were conducted using KEEL (Knowledge Extraction based on Evolutionary Learning) system. Twelve different regression algorithms were applied to an actual data set derived from the cadastral system and the registry of real estate transactions. The 10-fold cross validation and statistical tests were applied. The lowest values of MSE provided models constructed and optimized by means of support vector machine, artificial neural network, decision trees for regression and quadratic regression, however differences between them were not statistically significant. Worse performance revealed algorithms employing evolutionary fuzzy rule learning. The experiments confirmed the usefulness of KEEL as a powerful tool with its numerous evolutionary algorithms together with classical learning approaches to carry out laborious investigation on a practical problem in a relatively short time.

Possible contribution and limitations of model predictive controller are discussed for special case of thermostatic bath temperature control. The control potential is restricted because of constrained heating and cooling manipulated variables. The aim of the paper is to find out which knowledge and requirements can improve control and try to compare predictive controller with some traditional control approaches for given specific thermal process. Base predictive controller uses information about MIMO system dynamics and constrains. The control response of such a controller is unfortunately similar to known simple approaches. control with predictive controller became beneficial after additional information (future set-point knowledge) and other requirements (minimal energy cost - optimal steady state energy consumption) were used.

This paper addresses a problem of finding an optimal dynamic quantizer for systems including discrete-valued signal constraints. In the previous works of the authors, an optimal dynamic quantizer has been derived, and its effectiveness has been illustrated. However, since the former results have been derived under a strong assumption, the quantizer can be applied to limited cases. To overcome this drawback, we provide a dynamic quantizer based on a multirate sampling technique. First, we formulate an optimization problem for a class of multirate sampling type dynamic quantizers, and then we give a closed-form solution as an extension of the former single-rate sampling case. Finally, the validity of the proposed dynamic quantizer is demonstrated by an experiment with a cart system.

In this paper, we develop a mechanism to detect, model and track the shape of a contaminant cloud boundary using air borne sensor swarms. The cloud consists of a transparent gas of nuclear, biological or chemical contaminants and is spreading slowly in an urban environment. A group of UAVs, having the required sensors, are made to fly through the cloud to detect the boundary of the cloud. The shape of the cloud is modeled using splinegon. An observer is designed to track the movement of the cloud. The output of the observer is used in the path planning of the UAVs. The path planning is online, decentralized and considers obstacle avoidance and connectivity maintenance among the UAVs. Simulated experiments are carried out to test the proposed cloud tracking algorithm.
