Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder often characterized by motor symptoms such as hypomimia, and a reduction in facial expression. We explored the significance of facial features in identifying PD through static images, focusing on detecting hypomimia. A dataset comprised of PD patients and healthy controls' static facial images were collected and analyzed. Facial feature detection was conducted using OpenCV and Dlib libraries for the precise localization of key landmarks. In the subsequent feature extraction, parameters such as symmetry, eye aspect ratio, mouth corner distance, muscle tension, and mouth aperture ratio were used. Through the standardization of these features, meaningful comparisons across diverse images were made. By analyzing hypomimia-related features alongside traditional facial parameters, the results provide a comprehensive understanding of the role of facial expressions in PD diagnosis. The findings suggested that examining facial features in static images enhances the accuracy of PD detection and understanding of the nuanced motor symptoms associated with the disease.

Wheeled Mobile Robots (WMR) with the assistance of Information Communication Technology (ICT) can navigate and perform some tasks in an uncontrolled environment. They can experience some problems in task management if they can not localize themself in indoor/outdoor environments. Different algorithms can be exploited to evaluate the proper control law to track a default path. In this paper, a path-tracking algorithm for a WMR has been tested for an indoor environment, with a delimited area spanned by localization tags. The WMR must check some waypoints during its path until the last one, where the WMR re-start the simulation. In this work, the control law applied for the experiments is the Non-Linear Model Predictive controller (NMPC). The control algorithm is tested using two experiments, the first one is based on the robot movements in a simulation environment using the Gazebo tools, and the second one is related to a real context where the mobile robot moves in an indoor environment.

In this paper, we have explored the possibility to exploit control theory to introduce new steering techniques for atomic clocks of arbitrary order. Current studies show that most of the well-known steering methods are developed for the two-state atomic clock model and not much attention is paid to find efficient steering methods for higher-order atomic clocks. We introduce two novel clock steering methods for atomic clocks: one based on output stabilization problem and the other based on frequency deviation regulation problem. First, we prove the existence of control laws for the solvability of these two problems for atomic clocks. Second, to find a suitable control law for both steering problems, we outlined efficient procedures to obtain gain matrices and used the Kalman filter for state estimates. A few numerical examples have been given to analyze the performance of the proposed control approaches.
