IoT device onboarding, especially in the context of an edge-fog-cloud architecture, still has many challenges to solve. FIDO has already specified a zero-touch onboarding process called FIDO Device Onboarding (FDO) specification. In this paper, we present improvements to the FDO specification regarding performance and privacy. For privacy and security reasons, we show how the URL of the Owner Fog can be hidden from the Rendezvous Server. Further, we replaced the EPID protocol with a promising privacy-preserving protocol called AACKA. We also modified the last phase in the FDO protocol to create a performance improvement.

Recommendation systems are widely used in web services, such as social networks and e-commerce platforms, to serve personalized content to the users and, thus, enhance their experience. While personalization assists users in navigating through the available options, there have been growing concerns regarding its repercussions on the users and their opinions. Examples of negative impacts include the emergence of filter bubbles and the amplification of users' confirmation bias, which can cause opinion polarization and radicalization. In this paper, we study the impact of recommendation systems on users, both from a microscopic (i.e., at the level of individual users) and a macroscopic (i.e., at the level of a homogenous population) perspective. Specifically, we build on recent work on the interactions between opinion dynamics and recommendation systems to propose a model for this closed loop, which we then study both analytically and numerically. Among others, our analysis reveals that shifts in the opinions of individual users do not always align with shifts in the opinion distribution of the population. In particular, even in settings where the opinion distribution appears unaltered (e.g., measured via surveys across the population), the opinion of individual users might be significantly distorted by the recommendation system.

This paper presents a methodology to generate proper state trajectories of a swarm of agents, described as a single integrator model. The main goal of the proposed methodology is to route the agents into planar polygons like areas, so that to accomplish for cooperative perimeter surveillance or target capturing tasks. In particular, the agents are driven into a polygonal strip defined by a given containment external convex polygonal region and an internal forbidden convex polygonal region around a prescribed target. The control law is designed looking at a circular strip, then a conversion from circular to polygonal areas is applied to achieve the prescribed goal. Steady-state conditions are analyzed and sufficient conditions derived in terms of the control law parameters. Simulation results put in light the main properties of the resulting kinematic state description.

Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) is a commonly used imaging technique for monitoring respiration on the bedside and it might have the potential for monitoring lung perfusion. Several signal processing approaches have been developed to separate respiration and perfusion. In this contribution we investigated whether different image reconstruction algorithms influence the separation results provided by the harmonic analysis approach. We compared the algorithms used by Dräger, the Gauss-Newton method with different regularizers as well as the GREIT algorithm. The comparison was carried out using a retrospective EIT dataset from a COVID-19 patient. The results gave insight that the harmonic analysis separation approach is dependent on the reconstruction algorithms. Both, the separation of the perfusion and the separation of the respiration showed differences between the reconstruction algorithms when carried out pixel-wise. On the other hand, the separations carried out on the global impedance only showed marginal differences for the separated perfusion.

This study proposes a method that can easily grasp the relationship between the actual machine and the graphs. In recent years, there has been a lot of research on augmented reality displays. The fields of research range from education to welfare. In the development of control systems, when evaluating the performance of a system by simulation or experiment, the results are often checked as graphs. Since the graphs are checked on a PC using CAD or other means, it is difficult to know which part of the actual machine each graph corresponds to. Therefore, we developed a tool that displays graphs in augmented reality around the actual machine through a camera on a mobile terminal. To display graphs in augmented reality, it is important to obtain the coordinates of the actual machine and display them in a location associated with the device. Therefore, a USD model with the same shape and size as the actual machine is used. This is achieved by displaying the USD model in augmented reality so that it is superimposed on the actual machine. The accuracy of the tool was also examined and its usefulness was evaluated.
