Uncovering distinct public transport user profiles and the factors influencing the users’ intentions

Given the escalating environmental challenges, it is clear that the approach to the usage of public transport (PT) must be reconsidered. Loyal PT users help attract other travelers through positive recommendations, this drives interest in exploring the relationships between service quality, satisfaction, and loyalty. Although these relationships in the PT context have been studied, there have been limited efforts to explore the variability of their effects. Therefore, this research explores how service quality, satisfaction, involvement, and prior knowledge influence the behavioral intentions to use PT across various traveler groups. The hypotheses are tested by using multi-group analysis in the structural equation modeling framework, and three user profiles are revealed by applying the latent class cluster analysis. The results indicate that involvement strongly influences the behavioral intentions, while satisfaction impacts the intentions solely when involvement acts as a moderator. Class-specific results indicate that younger females living outside the city center put greater emphasis on service quality improvements for their satisfaction and involvement in PT services compared to males and older individuals residing in the city center. Low-income students living in the city center are more likely to use PT if they feel confident how to use the service. The results are relevant for PT operators and related stakeholders in maintaining travelers’ loyalty. © 2025 The Author(s)

In order to decrease the ecological impact and footprint of supply chain actors, a promising mechanism for sustainability in the industry is represented by sharing resources with each other in a mutualistic way. The paper aims at introducing a novel framework that facilitates the collaborative work of manufacturing facilities and helps participants dynamically and safely negotiate available capacities shared within the federation. The center of the framework is an open API cloud- and simulation-based platform which supports the strategic collaboration of federated companies while helping them optimize resource utilization, avoid shortages and minimize the environmental impact of their logistics.

Medical procedures, in particular those invasive, generate significant ethical, legal, and social concerns, including the issues of humanity and person-hood, stigma, autonomy, privacy and security, research ethics, safety, moral and legal responsibility, fair access, and justice. It was pointed out that future research should focus on developing practical solutions to the ethical challenges of medical experimental procedures with human participants, facilitated by the collection of empirical data on the perspectives shared by the general public, researchers and of course study participants.

A comparison for patch-level classification of deep learning methods on transparent environmental microorganism images: From convolutional neural networks to visual transformers

Nowadays, analysis of Transparent Environmental Microorganism Images (T-EM images) in the field of computer vision has gradually become a new and interesting spot. This paper compares different deep learning classification performance for the problem that T-EM images are challenging to analyze. We crop the T-EM images into 8×8 and 224×224 pixel patches in the same proportion and then divide the two different pixel patches into foreground and background according to ground truth. We also use four convolutional neural networks and a novel ViT network model to compare the foreground and background classification experiments. We conclude that ViT performs the worst in classifying 8 × 8 pixel patches, but it outperforms most convolutional neural networks in classifying 224 × 224 pixel patches. Digital behavior change interventions (DBCIs) such as “just-in-time” adaptive interventions (JITAIs) have demonstrated efficacy for increasing physical activity behavior. However, the effectiveness of these interventions is heavily dependent upon user engagement. Despite the inherent dynamic nature of engagement, as it varies over time based on an individual’s changing environment, context, and psychological state, the current understanding of engagement primarily comes from static snapshots of the behavior. The availability of intensive longitudinal data from JITAIs provides a unique opportunity to build and test dynamic models of behavior change from a process systems lens, relying on prediction-error methods from system identification. However, data missingness is a significant practical consideration in this process. Therefore, in this work we address missingness using a Bayesian imputation approach, which we evaluate using data from the HeartSteps II JITAI. Ultimately, the methods presented support the discovery of key factors that impact engagement behavior over time and can play an important role in the development of large-scale personalized interventions.

Essential genes are indispensable for biological survival. Thus it is of great significance to identify and study essential genes. A machine learning method, K-Nearest Neighbor, is used for development of predicting essential bacterial genes. The homologous features, including sequence homology and functional homology, of the bacterial genomes are extracted for determining essential genes. Based on the features, we use K-Nearest Neighbor algorithm for determining of gene function. And we tune the minimum matching parameter(K) in the essential gene predicted model for building an optimal model of the Escherichia coli specificity model. The corresponding optimal parameter(K) is then extended to other bacterial essential genes predicting models. After cross validation, the highest accuracy is 0.89 while K between 5 and 7. Therefore, the features we extracted can increase the accuracy of the bacterial essential gene prediction. In the premise, we found that the prediction accuracy of the prediction model based on K-Nearest Neighbor was not significantly different in different evolutionary distances between organisms in the database and the investigated species. That means the machine learning model can be extended to more distant species. It wills have a better predictive performance for predicting essential genes of distant species than the usual sequence-based methods.

The shape of helicobacter pylori(HP) is usually helical or S-shaped,which makes it to have the feature of highly divergent. Besides, its distribution also is different greatly in space and time, which is the factor to lead to multiple infection. In addition, in the same infected person, multiple infection also appeared in different regions of strain gene infection origin. Therefore, it is of great significance to study the genomic diversity and evolutionary analysis of Helicobacter pylori. In this paper, we are to analyze the homology of multiple sequences using Clustal X1.83 and meanwhile to construct the homologous genome evolutionary tree by MEGA7.0 to analyze the its function. The purpose of this study is to compare the genomic evolutionary differences of Helicobacter pylori among populations in different regions, and to discuss the significance of its infection prevalence and genomic variation in geographical changes, so as to conduct further discussion on the molecular level research mechanism of Helicobacter pylori.

Studies have confirmed that the growth, development and maintenance structure and function of all living organisms are determined by their genes, but the speed of gene translation products is affected by various internal and external factors. Therefore, studying the gene translation speed is extremely important for production and improving the speed through a variety of ways has always been an important subject. In recent years, the found of codon usage bias, t RNA recycling model and SD sequence-like structure provide another way to optimize the translation efficiency. These methods are almost based on codon usage theory to optimize gene sequence to speed up or slow down the translation speed so as to regulate the cell expression and metabolism. This paper is combined the three theories above, aimed at *** to design some reasonable algorithm to optimize gene sequence and thus using codon adaptation index(CAI) to evaluate the optimized effect.

All-optical analog-to-digital conversion is a paramount issue in modern science. How to implement real-time and ultrafast quantization to optical pulses with different intensities in an all-optical domain is a central problem. Here, we report a realtime demonstration of an all-optical quantization scheme based on slicing the supercontinuum in a nonlinear fiber. In comparison with previous schemes through off-line analysis of the power of different optical spectral components in the supercontinuum, this, to the best of our knowledge, is the first demonstration of such functionality online in the time ***, the extinction ratio among the quantized outputs can exceed 10 d B, which further confirms the feasibility of the proposed quantization scheme. The current 3 bit resolution in the proof-of-principle experiment is limited by the current experimental condition, but it can be expected to be greatly enhanced through improving both the spectral width of the generated supercontinuum and the number of filtering channels used.

Bioimpedance is a commonly used method for various conditions monitoring. In this paper, the authors carried out some research where they implemented various smoothing filters to enable identification of the bioimpedance spectroscopy parameters. The proposed filtering methods may also be used for application on embedded systems, which have smaller computing power but have become recently very popular. The obtained results with the implementation of smoothing filters were promising, however, some of the obtained results were unsatisfactory. This work also contains a brief introduction to bioimpedance spectroscopy and smoothing filters.
