Despite the development of medicine, as well as robotics aimed at helping people with disabilities, most disabled people with missing limbs cannot hope for a full life with the help of bionic prostheses, since these products are made strictly individually, and their control requires expensive surgeries to implant sensors. In addition, such prostheses themselves are very expensive. An alternative solution is to reduce the cost of such prostheses as much as possible and abandon the implantable sensors of signals of the human nervous system. The paper proposes a method for solving such a problem using a variety of sensors that remove signals from the skin surface without invasive surgery.

The paper provides a rationale for the use of low-power wireless communication to create non-invasive bionic limb prostheses. The need for such a connection is dictated, on the one hand, by the expediency of using sensors located in various parts of the body, often very remote from each other, on the other hand, by the desire to free the disabled person's body from the wires that would envelop it like a spider web. For each of these positions, arguments are given.

Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) assisted semi-grant-free (SGF) transmission has recently received significant research attention due to its outstanding ability of serving grant-free (GF) users with grant-based (GB) users' spectrum, which greatly improves the spectrum efficiency and effectively relieves the massive access problem of 5G and beyond networks. In this paper, we first study the outage performance of the greedy best user scheduling SGF scheme (BU-SGF) by considering the impacts of Rayleigh fading, path loss, and random user locations. In order to tackle the admission fairness problem of the BU-SGF scheme, we propose a fair SGF scheme by applying cumulative distribution function (CDF)-based scheduling (CS-SGF), in which the GF user with the best channel relative to its own statistics will be admitted. Moreover, by employing the theories of order statistics and stochastic geometry, the outage performances of both BU-SGF and CS-SGF schemes are analyzed. Theoretical results show that both schemes can achieve full diversity orders only when the served users' data rate is capped, which severely limits the rate performance of SGF schemes. To further address this issue, we propose a distributed power control strategy to relax such data rate constraint, and derive analytical expressions of the two schemes' outage performances under this strategy. Finally, simulation results validate the fairness performance of the proposed CS-SGF scheme, the effectiveness of the power control strategy, and the accuracy of the theoretical analyses. In this study, a remote monitoring sewage system based on optical method is presented for the first time. The built-in wastewater surveillance system can perform autonomous monitoring with no requirement of sample collection and its transport to the laboratory. The measurement results can be obtained in real time, the work operation allows continuous or on-demand mode. The study includes design, development and application of a biofunctionalized fiber-optic sensor, as well as engaging machine learning algorithms for measured signals classification. The validated SARS-CoV-2 antibodies sensor has a measurement range of 10 −12 mg/mL to 10 −1 mg/mL. Known concentrations of Immunoglobulin G (IgG) from 10 −6 mg/mL to 10 −1 mg/mL were added to the tested wastewater samples and then detected by the prepared optical probe. The data obtained were then processed and classified by traditional method and selected machine learning algorithms; the results obtained for the KNeighbors algorithm are Balanced Accuracy of 92.97 % and F1-score of 94.19 %. This study is of significance to establish a system that can effectively monitor the outbreak of potential infections in society.

The article describes the results of studying and analyzing phonocardiograms (PCGs) obtained during a physiological experiment with Blu-ray standard equipment. It provides the findings of a spectral and spectral-time analysis for signals with a sampling frequency of 10, 44.1 and 192 kHz. It shows that the differences in the PCG spectra of identical signals are unreliable. The article specifies the onset and disappearance moments of the harmonic components of heart sounds. It also provides recommendations on the sampling frequency and bit resolution of digitized PCG signals for telemetric systems.

The paper presents a method to estimate the frequencies of a multi-harmonic signal in finite time. We use parameterization based on applying delay operators to a measurable signal. The result is a linear regression model with an unknown vector which depends on the signal parameters. We use Dynamic Regressor Extension and Mixing method to replace the n-th order regression model with scalar regressions. After that, we estimate the parameters separately using the standard gradient descent method. In the last step, we find algebraically the finite-time parameter estimates. The set of numerical simulations demonstrates the efficiency of the proposed approach.

A perturbed sine-Gordon equation is considered under the restrictions on the model parameters corresponding to the single equilibrium in the noise-free case. First, a strict Lyapunov function is proposed for this dynamics and the conditions of strict passivity with a corresponding output are given. Second, the input-to-state stability property is investigated. The obtained theoretical results are illustrated by some simulations.

Critical Infrastructure Systems (CISs) play a key role in modern societies, Their sustainable operation depends heavily on the performance of dedicated structures and algorithms targeting monitoring, control and security aspects. In previous work a Research Platform (RP) for the design and simulation of such systems was presented. This works updates the information on the RP through the description of major hardware and software updates made. An example illustrating how this is to serve to include undergraduate students into research work is included.

Despite substantial declines since 2000, lower respiratory infections (LRIs), diarrhoeal diseases, and malaria remain among the leading causes of nonfatal and fatal disease burden for children under 5 years of age (under 5), primarily in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). The spatial burden of each of these diseases has been estimated subnationally across SSA, yet no prior analyses have examined the pattern of their combined burden. Here we synthesise subnational estimates of the burden of LRIs, diarrhoea, and malaria in children under-5 from 2000 to 2017 for 43 sub-Saharan countries. Some units faced a relatively equal burden from each of the three diseases, while others had one or two dominant sources of unit-level burden, with no consistent pattern geographically across the entire subcontinent. Using a subnational counterfactual analysis, we show that nearly 300 million DALYs could have been averted since 2000 by raising all units to their national average. Our findings are directly relevant for decision-makers in determining which and targeting where the most appropriate interventions are for increasing child survival. © 2022, The Author(s).
