This paper is devoted to extensions and experimental investigations of a recently proposed robust, nonlinear and globally convergent position observer for surface-mounted or non-salient permanent magnet synchronous motors (SPMSMs). A key feature of the robust observer is that estimation of the rotor position θ requires only the knowledge of stator resistance R and inductance L. In this study, the performance of SPMSM sensorless (self-sensing) control is verified for the case when the estimated position signal is used to control the motor and with DC link voltage measurement only. The closed-loop control system combined with the nonlinear observer is also compared with the state-of-the-art industrial controller. It is demonstrated that the nonlinear observer achieves a significant improvement of the closed-loop performance in both low- and high-speed operation. At the same time, the availability of a complete theoretical analysis allows for portability of results to other platforms and drives. Proposed approach can be useful in fault detection and self-diagnosis of the cyber-physical systems with embedded PMSM. © 2018 IEEE.

Thanks to the automation of diagnostic processes based on the EEG signal and the creation of classifications of various attention disorders based on the analysis of the EEG signals (as diagnostic markers) - it may be possible to refer patients to appropriate specialists and provide them with appropriate neurofeedback-based treatment. The marker method proposed by the authors of the hereof paper is based on analysis of the EEG, which signal can be widely use in screening diagnostics. The proposed solution in this work may be used for neurofeedback or Brain Computer Interfaces (BCI). In this paper the authors presented implementation of markers for the purpose of analysis of some memory disorders and short-time attention disorder. The study is still in progress. Presented results have initial-study character.

We adopt an operator-theoretic perspective to study convergence of linear fixed-point iterations and discrete-time linear systems. We mainly focus on the so-called Krasnoselskij–Mann iteration x(k + 1) = (1 − αk)x(k) + αkAx(k), which is relevant for distributed computation in optimization and game theory, when A is not available in a centralized way. We show that convergence to a vector in the kernel of (I − A) is equivalent to strict pseudocontractiveness of the linear operator x 7→ Ax. We also characterize some relevant operator-theoretic properties of linear operators via eigenvalue location and linear matrix inequalities. We apply the convergence conditions to multi-agent linear systems with vanishing step sizes, in particular, to linear consensus dynamics and equilibrium seeking in monotone linear-quadratic games. The Fisher-Snedecor F distribution has been recently proposed as a more accurate and mathematically tractable composite fading model than traditional established models in some practical cases. In this paper, we firstly derive exact closed-form expressions for the main statistical characterizations of the ratio of products of F-distributed random variables, including the probability density function, the cumulative distribution function and the moment generating function. Secondly, simple and tight approximations to the distribution of products and ratio of products of F-distributed random variables are presented. These analytical results can be readily employed to evaluate the performance of several emerging system configurations, including full-duplex relaying systems operating in the presence of co-channel interference and wireless communication systems enhanced with physical-layer security. The proposed mathematical analysis is substantiated by numerically evaluated results, accompanied by equivalent ones obtained using Monte Carlo simulations. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. A formalized representation of cybernetic and physical components for cyber-physical systems (CPS) is proposed. It matches numerical procedures' design for operational reliability analysis of multi-component industrial systems. The reliability indices are supposed to be estimated for the systems subject to intensive industrial exploitation. The viability for CPS is executed through the artificial neural networks (ANN s) mathematical model application. For this purpose the next outputs of the integrated model CPS+ ANN are calculated: the equipment conflict rate factor, the information completeness factor, the reliability index and the operator activity coefficient which is an important indicator for the system's ability to function in a fully automatic mode. The ANNs tuning utilizes the information on the states of physical components and cybernetic components via accessible historical data and experts' knowledge treatment. A digital electrical substation (DSS) is discussed as a demonstration example of the CPS. The reviewed example allows one to clearly present the proposed approach and algorithm.

The aim of this article is to show problems with the analysis of various cognitive disorders in the registered EEG signal and the effects of the neurofeedback therapy. Most of the disorders tested in ICD-10 have electroencephalographic readings associated with Beta bands and slow waves. All problems with attention deficit have similar records in the EEG signal and similar training protocols are used in their therapy and the results of the therapy are visible in more than 10 training sessions.

Background: Neck pain is a highly prevalent condition that leads to considerable pain, disability, and economic cost. We present the most current estimates of neck pain prevalence and years lived with disability (YLDs) from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD) by age, sex, and location, with forecasted prevalence to 2050. Methods: Systematic reviews identified population-representative surveys used to estimate the prevalence of and YLDs from neck pain in 204 countries and territories, spanning from 1990 to 2020, with additional data from opportunistic review. Medical claims data from Taiwan (province of China) were also included. Input data were pooled using DisMod-MR 2.1, a Bayesian meta-regression tool. Prevalence was forecast to 2050 using a mixed-effects model using Socio-demographic Index as a predictor and multiplying by projected population estimates. We present 95% UIs for every metric based on the 2·5th and 97·5th percentiles of 100 draws of the posterior distribution. Findings: Globally, in 2020, neck pain affected 203 million (95% uncertainty interval [UI] 163–253) people. The global age-standardised prevalence rate of neck pain was estimated to be 2450 (1960–3040) per 100 000 population and global age-standardised YLD rate was estimated to be 244 (165–346) per 100 000. The age-standardised prevalence rate remained stable between 1990 and 2020 (percentage change 0·2% [–1·3 to 1·7]). Globally, females had a higher age-standardised prevalence rate (2890 [2330–3620] per 100 000) than males (2000 [1600–2480] per 100 000), with the prevalence peaking between 45 years and 74 years in male and female sexes. By 2050, the estimated global number of neck pain cases is projected to be 269 million (219–322), with an increase of 32·5% (23·9–42·3) from 2020 to 2050. Time-optimal motion planning is one of the most essential problems in robotic theories. The presented direct transcription approach uses convex optimisation method to obtain a minimum-time control for robot manipulators. One subset of motion planning is the waiter motion problem that consists of moving a tablet from one place to another as fast as possible, avoiding the slip of the object that is placed upon it. In this paper the direct transcription method is presented in order to solve the waiter problem. This path tracking problem is also approximated by sequential two dimensional second-order cone programs (SOCP) using nonlinear change of variables. The computational benefit of the sequential method compared to the direct transcription approach is presented. The waiter motion problem is validated by real-life experimental results with a 6-DoF robotic arm. © 2017

This paper presents a small-gain theorem for networks composed of a countably infinite number of finite-dimensional subsystems. Assuming that each subsystem is exponentially input-to-state stable, we show that if the gain operator, collecting all the information about the internal Lyapunov gains, has a spectral radius less than one, the overall infinite network is exponentially input-to-state stable. It is important to control input and output power of bidirectional DC/DC converter for fuel cell and Ultra-capacitor equipped hybrid energy vehicle. The small signal equivalent model of bidirectional DC/DC converter in the buck mode is first established to obtain its transfer function. And a double loop of voltage and current is designed for the power control of bidirectional DC/DC. The non-minimum state space model is then deduced to initialize the PI controller parameters offline based on the predictive functional control (PFC) and Fuzzy rules are designed to tune the PI controller online. Simulation results of the proposed controller show that the set power can be achieved quickly by comparing with traditional PI controller and PFC based PI controller. © 2018 IEEE.
