The aim of this work is to compute a level backstepping control strategy for a coupled tanks system. The coupled tanks plant is a component included in the water treatment system of power plants. The nonlinear-model of the process was designed and implemented in Matlab-Simulink. The advantages of the control method proposed is that it takes into consideration the nonlinearity which can be useful for stabilization and a larger operating point with specified performances. The backstepping control method is computed using the nonlinear model of the system and the performance was validated on the physical plant.

Nowadays, the requirements in the high quality managing and mathematical modeling of diabetes are increasing. Due to the several types of this chronic disease the problem represents a challenging task that was mostly covered in the literature for type 1 diabetes while examining algorithms for artificial pancreas. The aim of the current paper is to analyze a recently developed novel time-delay diabetes model elaborated for both type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus;hence, to handle mixed state of these diseases (double diabetes) as well. control theoretical characteristics are investigated followed by parametric sensitivity analysis for both type 1 and type 2 cases. Finally, the model is compared with the well-known and widely used Cambridge (Hovorka)-model under different simulation scenarios. © 2015 EUCA.

This paper presents a new robust fuzzy control of energy management strategy for the stand-alone hybrid power systems. It consists of two levels named centralized fuzzy supervisory control which generates the power references for each decentralized robust fuzzy control. Hybrid power systems comprises: a photovoltaic panel and wind turbine as renewable sources, a micro turbine generator and a battery storage system. The proposed control strategy is able to satisfy the load requirements based on a fuzzy supervisor controller and manage power flows between the different energy sources and the storage unit by respecting the state of charge and the variation of wind speed and irradiance. Centralized controller is designed based on If-Then fuzzy rules to manage and optimize the hybrid power system production by generating the reference power for photovoltaic panel and wind turbine. Decentralized controller is based on the Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model and permits us to stabilize each photovoltaic panel and wind turbine in presence of disturbances and parametric uncertainties and to optimize the tracking reference which is given by the centralized controller level. The sufficient conditions stability are formulated in the format of linear matrix inequalities using the Lyapunov stability theory. The effectiveness of the proposed Strategy is finally demonstrated through a SAHPS (stand-alone hybrid power systems) to illustrate the effectiveness of the overall proposed method.

The paper is aimed to the control of uncertain linear plants in conditions of quantized output. control law synthesis was based on consecutive compensator method. Obtained algorithm provides tracking error of quantized output for the reference signal with fixed accuracy. Accuracy range depends on the quantization step and parametric uncertainties bounds. In the paper simulation results confirming performance of proposed method are given. © 2015

In the paper some results of experimental works on streaming electrification in swinging cylinder system have been shown. Mineral transformer oil is used as dielectric liquid in which charge generation occurs. A shuttle system with swinging cylinder is proposed to study the flow electrification phenomena. Designed system allows for modulation of liquid flow and thus gives the possibility to determine both frequency and phase characteristics of the electrification process. The system is a modification of the Couette system. It uses the cylinder, which oscillates around the specified location. This system retains the advantage of Couette cylinders on the flow hydrodynamics. Construction of proposed system is described. Few examples are presented in different conditions. The results confirm the nonlinearity of streaming electrification.

We discuss the emergence of oscillations in networks of inert single-input-singleoutput systems which interact via linear, time-delay coupling functions. We present conditions for 1. the solutions of the time-delay coupled systems to be bounded, 2. the network equilibrium to be unique, and 3. the network equilibrium to be unstable. If these conditions are all satisfied the network of time-delay coupled inert systems has a non-trivial oscillatory solution. In addition, we show that a necessary and sufficient condition for the emerge of oscillations in such networks is that the considered systems are at least second order. Moreover, using recent results on the existence of partial synchronization manifolds, we identify the patterns of oscillation that may emerge. © 2015, IFAG (International Federation of Automatic control) Hosting by Elsevier Ltd. This paper discusses a practical implementation for photogrammetry missions in an UAV setting. Further advances, which exploit geometrical properties of the problem are considered. In particular, a bi-level optimization procedure which minimizes the total path-length is discussed. Various constraints and limitations are taken into account.
