In this paper we present the study on the usage of distributed version of the algorithm for generalized one-sided concept lattices (GOSCL), which provides a special case for fuzzy version of data analysis approach called formal concept analysis (FCA). The methods of this type create the conceptual model of the input data based on the theory of concept lattices and were successfully applied in several domains. GOSCL is able to create one-sided concept lattices for data tables with different attribute types processed as fuzzy sets. One of the problems with the creation of FCA-based models is their computational complexity. In order to reduce the computation times, we have designed the distributed version of the algorithm for GOSCL. The algorithm is able to work well especially for data where the number of newly generated concepts is reduced, i.e., for sparse input data tables which are often used in domains like text-mining and information retrieval. Therefore, we present the experimental results on sparse data tables in order to show the applicability of the algorithm on the generated data and the selected text-mining datasets.

The paper studies the effect of the manipulation of the polytopic TP model representation of a given quasi Linear Parameter Varying (qLPV) state-space model on the control performance results. The investigated model in the case study consists of the extended, Stribeck friction included three degrees of-freedom version of the aero elastic wing section of the Nonlinear Aero elastic Test Apparatus (NATA) model. The investigation is carried out through the Tensor Product (TP) model transformation based control Design Framework, which bridges the manipulation of the polytopic representation and Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) based control design methods. Different TP model representations of the given qLPV model are derived: a TP model representation with a sum-normalized non-negative (SNNN) convex hull, a TP model representation with a close to-normal (CNO) convex hull and interpolated TP model representations. Upon these representations Linear Matrix Inequality based design methods are applied to attain the controller and observer system components. The resulting control systems are tested through numerical simulation and their performance are compared and evaluated. The paper presents results, where the interpolated representations lead to better control performance results, which indicates, that the manipulation of the polytopic TP model representation may lead to further potential optimization possibilities. Also, this shows, that in order to find the optimal solution the manipulation is a necessary and important step.

This work proposes a policy iteration procedure for the synthesis of optimal and globally stabilizing control policies for Linear Time Invariant (LTI) Asymptotically Null-controllable with Bounded Inputs (ANCBI) systems. This class includes systems with eigenvalues on the imaginary axis (possibly repeated) but no pole with positive real part. The proposed policy iteration relies on a class of piecewise quadratic Lyapunov functions which is non-differentiable, but continuous, and polynomial in both the state and the deadzone functions of the input signals. The second step of the policy iteration is based on a piecewise control policy improvement. An important aspect of the proposed piecewise policy is that at each step of the iteration the computed policy is globally stabilizing and the existence of an improving value function is guaranteed as well. The solution to the inequalities which is required to hold at each step of the policy iteration, is obtained by solving Sum-of-Squares Programs (SOSP) that can be efficiently implemented with semidefinite programming (SDP) solvers.

In this paper authors will expose a work developed with the aim to submit an educational innovation project proposal to a competitive call for Educational Innovation Projects 2013-2015 of the Education Advisory Service of the Basque Country University (UPV/EHU, Spain). This project is being carried out in the Computer Structure and Computer Architecture sub-module of the Degree in Computer Management and Information Systems engineering of the University College of engineering of Vitoria-Gasteiz, University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). The project is based on the active learning, more specifically, on cooperative learning. In this paper we have given deeper insight the dependencies between all the subjects belonging to the analyzed sub-module, which is composed of two subjects named Computer Structure and Computer Architecture. We have included in such analysis a previous subject named Principles of Digital Systems Design, which does not belong to that sub-module, but plays an important role in the acquisition of the knowledge and competencies of the two previously referenced subjects.

In this paper, we consider designing locally stabilizing controllers, each of which stabilizes each disconnected subsystem, in a distributed manner for large-scale networked linear systems. To this end, we design a low-dimensional hierarchical distributed compensator such that the L_2-performance of the closed-loop system improves as long as that of the locally stabilizing controllers improves. We solve a controller reduction problem where the approximation error of the low-dimensional compensator gets better as long as the performance of the locally stabilizing controllers improves, while preserving the hierarchical distributed structure of the original compensator. Finally, we demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method through a numerical example of a power network.
