By employing Lyapunov functions and Razumikhin techniques, we analyze the uniform boundedness and uniform asymptotic stability for a large class of impulsive neural networks with time-varying delay. Some new criteria are obtained to ensure the uniform boundedness and uniform asymptotic stability of the impulsive neural networks. The results remove the usual assumption that the activation functions f j (ldr) are of bounded, monotonous or differential character. Moreover, the time-varying delay function is not required to be differential. Therefore, the results which are easy to check and apply in practice, extend and improve the earlier publications.

This paper describes a computer-simulated virtual reality environment for planetary rover operation and testing. The proposed 3D Virtual Rover Operation Simulator (VROS) consists of rover model, perception of the planetary surface, and rover-terrain contact model, which provides a simulation platform to test and validate different rover chassis design, navigation and locomotion algorithms, and to support rover operation. Lab-based experiments have been carried out and results can demonstrate various functions of VROS and its performance.

Principle, structure design, and experimental setup of a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor with a simple signal detection method for demodulation of resonance wavelength shift of the FBG are introduced, which uses a cascade self-demodulated fiber Bragg grating pair attached respectively on the upper and lower surface of a pendulum-type cantilever element instead of a twice reflection FBG pair structure for both parameter sensing and wavelength shift signal demodulating. In addition, cross-sensitivity effect of FBG-based sensor automatically solved due to a differential signal process method. With this demodulation method, current, and vibration measurement experiments are carried out. Experimental results indicate that current measurement error of plusmn1 mA can be obtained within the whole range from 0 to 400 mA, vibration measurement are also obtained based on the present experiment setup.

This paper studies the stabilization problem for a class of stochastic nonlinear interconnected systems with unknown parameters involved. By employing filtered transformation, the stochastic Lyapunov-like theorem and the back-stepping design technique, a decentralized output-feedback controller and parameter adaptive law are proposed. In this paper, we propose an enhanced cognitive resource management for QoS-aware service provisioning in wired and wireless home/office network. We enhance QoS-aware customer network management (Q-CNM) system. The Q-CNM controls overall management process in home/office network, gathers network information, and processes incoming requests through QoS-aware resource allocation with connection admission control (CAC) function. Especially the cognitive management process at the Q-CNM provides load redistribution, optimized resource utilization for QoS-guaranteed differentiated service provisioning based on obtained knowledge about network. The detailed analysis of QoS-aware resource allocation and cognitive management process at the Q-CNM are explained. The network performance and QoS parameters are analyzed based on experimental implementation of the proposed management scheme in a real testbed environment and ns-2 network simulator.

Based on the directional characteristic of SAD (Sum of Absolute Difference) distribution and the center-biased characteristic of motion vectors, a fast BMA(block-matching motion estimation algorithm), DHS (Diamond and Hexagon Search), is proposed in this paper. DHS employs HP to locate the best matching block with large motion vector, and diamond search pattern (DP) to refine the motion vector. Although the proposed DHS may also be trapped in local minima, the experimental results show that it is faster than UMHexagonS (Unsymmetrical-cross multi-hexagon-grid Search), while its encoding efficiency is better than DS and it is almost the same as that of UMHexagonS.

Power quality (PQ) signals are the foundation of power quality analysis. Aim to get accurate analysis results, PQ signals should be recorded with high simple rate. Traditional power quality signal record methods with no data compression get a large amount of data set. It will cause the waste of memory space and difficult to transmit the data set. Wavelet transform is a very effective method for PQ signal compression. Therefore, this paper provides a status report of wavelet based PQ signals compression in the time-frequency domain through an overview of recent contributions. The results of the literature review indicate that power quality signals compression using wavelet transform is a very powerful tool and has been utilized in power system effectively. Wavelet-based compression methods using different types of wavelet transform and optimal wavelet thresholds have high compression ratio and reserve important details of original signals. The expectation is that further research and applications of wavelet will be widely applied in power quality signal compression.

According to the integral theory of energy function, branch potential energy function model is constructed, and then two indexes are proposed: one is the current vulnerability, which quantifies the distance between the current transmitted power and initial transmitted power to identify the current vulnerable area, the other is the forecasting vulnerability, which is gained through computing the branch vulnerability considering the impact of power injection changing. By the two indexes, the current and forecasting vulnerable area can be identified and the correctness of the former one can be validated. Through the simulations in IEEE-30 bus system and the comparison with optimal power flow under N-1 and N-2 faults, the results show that the branch potential energy function model have many advantages such as rapid computation without being influenced by the convergent condition of power flow, identifying and forecasting the vulnerable branch exactly. Because of these, the application of this method on the on-line security monitoring is expected.
