The field of terahertz devices is important in terahertz ***,most of the current devices have limited functionality and poor *** improve device performance and achieve multifunctionality,we designed a terahertz device based on a combination of VO_(2)and *** device can be tuned using the phase-transition characteristics of VO_(2),which is included in the triple-layer structure of the device,along with SiO_(2)and *** terahertz device exhibits various advantageous features,including broadband coverage,high absorption capability,dynamic tunability,simple structural design,polarization insensitivity,and incidentangle *** simulation results showed that by controlling the temperature,the terahertz device achieved a thermal modulation range of spectral absorption from 0 to *** 313 K,the device exhibited complete reflection of terahertz *** the temperature increased,the absorption rate also *** the temperature reached 353 K,the device absorption rate exceeded 97.7%in the range of 5-8.55 *** study used the effective medium theory to elucidate the correlation between conductivity and temperature during the phase transition of VO_(2).Simultaneously,the variation in device performance was further elucidated by analyzing and depicting the intensity distribution of the electric field on the device surface at different ***,the impact of various structural parameters on device performance was examined,offering valuable insights and suggestions for selecting suitable parameter values in real-world *** characteristics render the device highly promising for applications in stealth technology,energy harvesting,modulation,and other related fields,thus showcasing its significant potential.

Oscillation is a significant indication of the deterioration of control system performance and needs to be carefully monitored to ensure safe and stable process operations. However, industrial processes are often prone to noisy artifacts and nonstationary trends, resulting in low signal-to-noise ratios. In order to tackle this problem, this study introduces a novel framework for enhanced trend removal and noise reduction, which is featured by the following steps:(i) The circulant singular spectrum analysis (CiSSA) is used to decompose oscillation data into several reconstructed components (RCs). (ii) The estimated power spectral density (PSD) ofthese RCs is then smoothed using the Savitzky-Golay filter (SGF) to eliminate noise and identify the RCs corresponding to oscillatory components. (iii) These identified RCs are subsequently reconstructed to produce purified oscillatory data. The effectiveness of the suggested approach is validated using simulations and real-world industrial case studies. The findings indicate that the method notably enhances the quality of oscillatory data. © 2024 IEEE.

Transcranial direct current stimulation(tDCS)is a noninvasive technique that uses constant,low-intensity direct current to regulate brain *** studies have shown that cathode-tDCS(c-tDCS)is effective in reducing seizure frequency in patients with *** to the heterogeneity and patient specificity of seizures,patient-specific epilepsy networks are increasingly important in exploring the regulatory role of *** this study,we first set the left hippocampus,parahippocampus,and amygdala as the epileptogenic zone(EZ),and the left inferior temporal cortex and ventral temporal cortex as the initial propagation zone(PZ)to establish a large-scale epilepsy network *** we set tDCS cathode locations according to the maximum average energy of the simulated EEG signals and systematically study c-tDCS inhibitory effects on the propagation of epileptic *** results show that c-tDCS is effective in suppressing the propagation of epileptic ***,to consider the patient specificity,we set specific EZ and PZ according to the clinical diagnosis of 6 patients and establish patient-specific epileptic *** find that c-tDCS can suppress the propagation of abnormal activity in most patient-specific epileptic ***,when the PZ is widely distributed in both hemispheres,the treatment effect of c-tDCS is not ***,we propose dual-cathode *** epilepsy models with a wide distribution of PZ,it can inhibit the propagation of epileptiform activity in other nodes except EZ and PZ without increasing the tDCS current *** results provide theoretical support for the treatment of epilepsy with tDCS.

Steel plate is a highly customized product, and steel plates from the same order may be stored in different stacks. However, during the outbound process, the steel plates of the next order can only be dispatched from the warehouse once all plates from the preceding order have been fully completed. In this case, the outbound scheduling of steel plates is a challenging problem since its efficiency and complexity are affected by the shuffling of steel plates. In order to address the challenge, this paper formulates the steel plate outbound scheduling as a dynamic programming model with the aim of minimizing the crane operation time. To solve the problem, an decision tree-based backtracking search algorithm (DTBSA) is developed, in which the search tree is pruned through lower bound functions and dominance rules, so as to reduce the search range of the solution space. Experimental results prove that the proposed method can obtain optimal scheduling results within a reasonable time range. © 2024 IEEE.

A Pango FPGA-based solution for merging and processing multiple independent video streams and reconstructing a real-time display system is presented. The system handles each video stream individually, then produces a combined video output in HDMI format. To ensure high efficiency and low latency, a parallel processing scheme and a hardware-oriented architecture are employed. The Pango PG50K FPGA board acts as the central hardware for managing inputs, reconstructing video, and producing outputs. Rapid-access DDR3-SDRAM ensures efficient data caching and signal integrity. This system is ideal for applications requiring rapid response, such as traffic monitoring and industrial automation, and supports quick algorithm iteration and optimization, enhancing performance and adaptability.

Spiking neural P systems are a class of distributed parallel computing models inspired from the way neurons communicate with each other by means of electrical impulses (called “spikes”). In this paper, we continue the research of normal forms for spiking neural P systems. Specifically, we prove that the degree of spiking neural P systems without delay can be decreased to two without losing the computational completeness (both in the generating and accepting modes).

English Language-Based Virtual Assistants (ELB-VAs) are AI-powered systems designed to comprehend and respond to user queries in the English language, exemplified by virtual assistants like Siri or Alexa. The need for balancing transparency and user privacy in ELB-VAs is paramount due to their pervasive integration into daily life. Ensuring transparency imbues user trust, while safeguarding privacy addresses ethical concerns associated with personal data. Existing methods involve clear privacy policies, user-controlled data sharing settings, and encryption. However, drawbacks include user confusion and potential biases. To address these limitations, this study proposes a novel approach. Methodologically, it integrates pre-processing techniques such as lowercasing and tokenization, coupled with a Natural Language Understanding model. This model undergoes intent and entity recognition training, enhancing accuracy, and incorporates privacy-aware response generation, ensuring informative yet privacy-conscious interactions. The implementation of the study's results is carried out using Python tools, showcasing improved metrics and response times. This approach contributes to a more transparent and privacy-respecting user experience, aligning with evolving ethical norms and setting the stage for advancements in ELB-VA technology. This comprehensive exploration bridges existing gaps, emphasizing the ethical imperative of user-centric and privacy-aware AI interactions in ELB- VAs. The proposed NLU model exhibits a substantial increase in accuracy compared to other methods, with an impressive accuracy value of 99.1%• On average, it outperforms the Random Forest and Decision Tree models by 15.7 percentage points, highlighting its superior predictive capabilities in the evaluated task. This comprehensive exploration aligns with evolving ethical norms and establishes a foundation for future advancements in ELB-VA technology. © 2024 IEEE.

Time-optimal control for high-order chain-of-integrator systems with full state constraints remains an open and challenging problem within the discipline of optimal control. The behavior of optimal control in high-order problems lacks precise characterization. Even the existence of the chattering phenomenon, i.e., the control switches infinitely many times over a finite period, remains unknown. This paper establishes a theoretical framework for chattering in the problem, providing novel findings on the uniqueness of state constraints inducing chattering, the upper bound of switching times in an unconstrained arc during chattering, and the convergence of states and costates to the chattering limit point. For the first time, this paper proves the existence of chattering in the considered problem. The chattering optimal control for 4th-order problems with velocity constraints is precisely solved, providing an approach to plan time-optimal snap-limited trajectories. Other cases of order 4 are proved not to allow chattering. The conclusions rectify a prevalent misconception in the industry concerning the time-optimality of S-shaped trajectories with minimal switching times. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

We study the problem of routing plug-in electric and conventional fuel vehicles on a city scale using incentives. In our model, commuters selfishly aim to minimize a local cost that combines travel time and the financial expenses of using city facilities, i.e., parking and service stations. The traffic authority can influence the commuters' routing choice via personalized discounts on parking tickets and on the energy price at service stations. We formalize the problem of optimally designing these monetary incentives to induce traffic decongestion as a large-scale bilevel game, where constraints arise at both levels due to the finite capacities of city facilities and incentives budget. Then, we develop an efficient scalable solution scheme with convergence guarantees based on BIG Hype, a recently-proposed hypergradient-based algorithm for bilevel games. Finally, we validate our approach via numerical simulations over the Anaheim's traffic network, showcasing its advantages in terms of traffic decongestion and scalability.

An adaptive parameter estimation method that ensures fixed-time convergence is proposed for micro-nano positioning system driven by magnetostrictive actuator(i.e., magnetostrictive actuated positioning system). Firstly, the hysteresis nonlinearity of the magnetostrictive actuated positioning system is characterized using the generalized Prandtl–Ishlinskii(GPI) ***, the low-pass filter is introduced to design the adaptive estimation law driven by the estimation error, by which the unmeasured intermediate hysteresis variable can be avoided, and the estimation error converges to zero within a fixed time. Specifically,a modified error variable is designed to deal with the influence of the regression vector, thereby improving convergence performance and simplifying parameter adjustment. Finally, the effectiveness of the presented method is verified by simulation and experimental outcomes.
