NSGA-III and MOACO-based decision-making framework for optimizing time, cost, quality, and carbon footprint in bridge construction: a hybrid approach

This study presents a hybrid optimization framework combining Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm III (NSGA-III) and Multi-Objective Ant Colony Optimization (MOACO) to optimize time, cost, quality, and carbon footprint in bridge construction projects. The construction industry faces growing demands for sustainable practices while maintaining efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The proposed framework addresses these challenges by leveraging NSGA-III’s capability to maintain diversity in Pareto-optimal solutions and MOACO’s strength in refining local solutions through pheromone-based exploration. The framework models construction activities with multiple execution modes, each characterized by specific costs, durations, quality levels, and carbon emissions. Four objective functions are developed to minimize time, cost, and carbon footprint while maximizing quality. Constraints such as precedence relationships and resource availability ensure realistic project planning. The framework is validated through a case study of a 300-m reinforced concrete girder bridge, using input data derived from practical project scenarios. Results demonstrate the hybrid framework’s superior performance compared to standalone NSGA-III, MOACO, Multi-Objective Teaching-Learning-Based Optimization, and Multi-Objective Particle Swarm Optimization. Trade-off and correlation analyses provide actionable insights, revealing relationships between objectives and enabling informed decision-making. This study contributes to sustainable project management by integrating advanced optimization techniques and practical decision-support tools. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

This study examines improvements in stegano-graphic models by redesigning three main components: the encoder, decoder, and evaluator, each optimized for better performance. The encoder is designed to embed data effectively with minimal quality, using popular activation function like CeLU. The decoder focuses on accurately retrieving embedded data, essential when images are processed under various conditions. The evaluator uses new functions to accurately check how well data is recovered, promoting continuous improvements. Experimental tests conducted on the Div2K and COCO datasets revealed varied results. The Basic model managed to embed a lot of data (BPP of 4.160), but this reduced image quality significantly, as shown by a PSNR of 30.026 and SSIM of 0.824. In contrast, the Residual model preserved high image quality, with a PSNR of 37.113 and SSIM over 0.9, but embedded less data (BPP of 4.127). The Dense model struck a good balance, embedding a fair amount of data (BPP of 4.512) while maintaining decent image quality (PSNR of 37.089 and SSIM of 0.907). These outcomes demonstrate the potential benefits of making targeted changes to model architecture, suggesting great promise for improving security features in digital communication tools. © 2024 IEEE.

Classical tasks of a librarian, such as screening and categorizing new documents based on their content, are increasingly replaced by search engines or through the use of cataloging software. A first overview of a corpus topical orientation can be achieved by combining graph-based search engines and clustering methods. Existing classical clustering methods, however, often require an a priori specification of the desired number of clusters to be output and do not consider term relationships in graphs, which is deficient from a practical point of view. Therefore, fully unsupervised graph-based clustering approaches at the term level offer new possibilities that mitigate these shortcomings. Within this work, a set of novel graph-based clustering algorithms have been developed. The hierarchical clustering algorithm (HCA) forms term hierarchies by iteratively isolating nodes of a given co-occurrence graph based on the evaluation of the edge weight between the nodes. Based on the co-occurrence graph inherent relationships of terms, a new graph is built agglomerative forming individual term clusters of related terms. The feasibility of the outlined methods for text analysis is shown. © 2022 ACM.

A face expression is a clear representation of an individual's affective state, cognitive activity, intention, personality, psychopathology, and it serves as a means of communication in interpersonal relationships. Automatic facial expression recognition is a critical segment of usual interface between human and a machine, and it must be used for behavioristic psychology therapeutic practice as well. Face identification and placement in a chaotic scene, facial feature extraction, and facial feature categorization are all tasks that an autonomous face features Recognition system must complete. Convolution Neural Networks are used to create a facial expression detection system. LeNet Architecture is the foundation of the CNN model. During this experiment, we have used the Kaggle facial features dataset in which we acquire seven types of face expressions which indicates our emotions swiftly. Kaggle facial feature data set with 7 face expressions labeled as (happy, sad, surprise, fear, rage, disgust, neutral) was taken for the research. Through this paper we are able to obtain 56.7% accuracy and 0.576 precision while testing the dataset. © 2022 IEEE.

The development of Cross-platform mobile applications is a goal of every client in today's world. Engineers are forced to build the same system multiple times for different OS (operating systems). Google provides a solution by introducing Flutter. It is an open-source SDK for improving high performance and the most reliable mobile apps for apps like iOS, Android, Linux, web and windows. It provides feature of timely compiling using a computer code that includes integration during the execution of the program in working time instead of previous practice. Typically, this includes byte-code translation known as source code to machine code, which is done continuously. Ahead of time integration includes advanced programming language such as C or C ++ [17]. Flutter provides different frameworks, widgets that makes it easy to use and implement code. In the contemporary digital realm, the widespread dissemination of false Arabic news is a significant social concern laden with various risks. Recognizing the seriousness of this issue, our research utilizes cutting-edge technologies, specifically Machine Learning, to distinguish between authentic Arabic news and deceptive counterparts. The consequences of propagating misinformation go beyond compromising social cohesion;they extend to the erosion of digital information's credibility, fostering an atmosphere of mistrust and deception that undermines the very foundations of societal bonds. Through the application of contemporary technologies, this study aims to identify and underscore Arabic news that embodies such risks. The intricate characteristics of Arabic language morphology, marked by words carrying multiple meanings based on inflectional forms and the prevalence of numerous diacritical marks, intensify the challenges of text classification. Despite contending with these linguistic intricacies, modern natural language processing approaches offer practical solutions. Notably, our methodology relies on the preprocessing of two available datasets for training and testing, a crucial step for seamlessly integrating a range of Machine Learning techniques, including Random Forest (RF), Logistic Regression (LR), Decision Tree (DT), and Multinomial Naive Bayes (NB). Importantly, the Logistic Regression technique emerged as the most effective, achieving an accuracy of 95.92% in the SANAD dataset for discerning nuanced Arabic news © 2024 IEEE.

With the rise of Bitcoin, blockchain technology has gained a lot of attention from the financial world. While the underlying distributed ledger technology has many potential applications, Bitcoin remains the most well-known and widely- adopted use case. As a result, Bitcoin is often seen as a bellwether for the wider blockchain industry. However, there is another side to blockchain that is often overlooked: dapps. Decentralized apps (dapps) are applications that run on a decentralized network, such as Ethereum. Visually impaired people encounter several challenges in their mobility and navigation. Their daily activities are obstructed due to their inability to adapt or recognize accurately their surroundings, especially outside their house which they are more familiar with. Thus, it becomes the main reason of accidents, falling off, getting lost in unknown areas, etc. Furthermore, one of the sensory systems that helps the body to process data about the external environment is the visual system. Blind people also lose touch with the outside world, develops poor motor habits, which results in postural problems as a result. This project will assist visually impaired people in their daily life and simplify normal tasks through a system combining two previously designed projects, 'Smart Shoes for Blind and Visually Impaired People', and 'Human posture monitoring device'. The multifunctional system is developed with the goal of securing safe movements for visually impaired people as well as maintaining a good back posture by detecting leaning postures (LP). The purpose of the smart shoe is to identify obstacles and protect the user from unintended accidents. A compatible Android application has been developed to alert the user when there is an obstruction or when he is walking on a wet surface. Voice alarms will be used to acoustically alert the user. If the user collapses, a message with their position will be sent right away to a relative. On the other hand, the smart vest will identify the position of the user's back and alert him to maintain a straight posture through the same application as well. As the system is dealing with human health, some safety measurements would be taken into consideration to implement a safe electrical system in order to reduce error and to increase accuracy. © 2023 IEEE.
