To tackle the twin challenges of limited battery life and lengthy charging durations in electric vehicles (EV s), this paper introduces an Energy-efficient Hybrid Model Predictive Planner (EHMPP), which employs an energy-saving optimization strategy. EHMPP focuses on refining the design of the motion planner to be seamlessly integrated with the existing automatic driving algorithms, without additional hardware. It has been validated through simulation experiments on the Prescan, CarSim, and Matlab platforms, demonstrating that it can increase passive recovery energy by 11.74% and effectively track motor speed and acceleration at optimal power. To sum up, EHMPP not only aids in trajectory planning but also significantly boosts energy efficiency in autonomous EVs. © 2024 IEEE.

Constrained filtering problems are ubiquitous in deep space exploration missions. Through integrating physical constraints into the estimation framework, the performance of the filtering algorithm may be improved. For constrained filtering problems, the estimated state should always satisfy the constraints. To this end, one useful technique is to construct a constrained least square problem to restrain the estimated state within the constraint region. Moreover, for constrained UKF, which is applicable to many nonlinear spacecraft systems, the sigma points are also required to stay within the constraint region. In previous studies, this is done by introducing a scaling parameter in unscented transformation to project the sigma points to the constraint region while preserving their statistical properties. Unfortunately, the sigma points will degrade after scaling if the constrained estimation from the last step is on the boundary of the constraints. The degradation will significantly increase the error in prediction covariance, which will further lead to unreliable state estimations or even failure of the UKF with scaled unscented transformation. To address this problem, a new sigma point projection method for constrained UKF is developed in this paper. Instead of directly projecting the unconstrained sigma points to the real constraint region, a redundant term is first introduced to construct a relaxed constraint boundary. Then, a non-zero scaling parameter is optimized taking into account both the new constraint boundary and limits on the scaling parameter. The optimal scaling parameter is used in the projection of the unconstrained sigma points so that degradation of the sigma points can be avoided. The proposed sigma point projection method is further incorporated into a constrained UKF to generate precise state estimations. Due to the unique physiological structure of human lung tissue, segmentation of the lung parenchymal regions is a very challenging task. Traditional image segmentation methods have certain limitations on practical applications. Therefore, lung tissue segmentation methods based on deep learning have become a research hotspot in recent years. Res BCDU-Net may overcome the problem of high false positives in other semi-automatic segmentation, but it still has the problem of low accuracy in edge segmentation, which is probably caused by the unclear input of a single CT image. Therefore, we propose to utilize three consecutive CT images as the input, which employs inter-slice context to restrain the false positive. When a single input CT image is not clear, the accuracy of lung segmentation results can be improved by referring to its previous and next slices. Based on the input of three continuous images, the spatial information in the process of lung segmentation is added in this paper. We build a Res BCDU-SCB network and collect and integrate spatial information through SC-BLSTM module. An SC-attention module is designed to take both finer-grained spatial information and rich semantic information into account. In this paper, we append BLSTM (Bidirectional Convolutional Long Short-term Memory) module with SC-attention module, named SC-BLSTM, to decrease performance degradation caused by ambiguous boundaries and variable lung parenchymal shapes. The results of extensive experiments on lung CT images (LIDC-IDRI database) show that it may improve the final segmentation accuracy and reduce the false positives, which confirms the effectiveness of our proposed method. © 2023 ACM.

Ozone pollution is a major environmental threat to human health. Timely assessment of ozone trends is crucial for informing environmental policy. Here we show that for the most recent decade（2013–2022） in the northern hemisphere, warm-season（April–September） mean daily 8-h average maximum ozone increases much faster in urban regions with top ozone levels(mainly in the North China Plain, 1.2 ± 1.3 ppbv year-1) than in other, low-ozone regions(0.2 ± 0.9 ppbv year-1). These trends widen the ozone differences across urban regions, and increase extreme pollution levels and health threats from a global perspective. Comparison of historical trends in different urban regions reveals that ozone increases in China during 2013–2022 differ in magnitude and mechanisms to historical periods in other regions since *** reflects a unique chemical environment characterized by exceptionally high nitrogen oxides and aerosol concentrations, where reducing ozone precursor emissions leads to substantial ozone *** increase in China has slowed down in 2018–2022 compared to 2013–2017, driven by ongoing emission reductions, but with ozone-favorable weather conditions. Historical ozone evolution in Japan and South Korea indicates that ozone increases should be suppressed with continuous emission *** temperature and associated wildfires have also reversed ozone decreases in the USA and Europe,with anthropogenic ozone control slowing down in recent decades.

In this paper, we consider a cyber-physical manufacturing system (CPMS) scenario containing physical components (robots, sensors, and actuators), operating in a digitally connected, constrained environment to perform industrial tasks. The CPMS has a centralized control plane with digital twins (DTs) of the physical resources, computational resources, and a network manager that allocates network resources. Existing approaches for the allocation of network resources are typically fixed with respect to controller-dependent run-time specifications, which may impact the performance of physical processes. We propose a dynamic network management framework, where the network resource allocation schemes are controller-aware. The information about the controllers of the physical resources is implemented at the DT level, and metrics, such as regret bounds, take the process performance measures into account. The proposed network management schemes optimize physical system performance by balancing the shared resources between the physical assets on the plant floor, and by considering their control requirements, providing a new perspective for dynamic resource allocation. A simulation study is provided to illustrate the performance of the proposed network management approaches and compare their resource allocation performance efficiencies. © 2022 IEEE.

The complex permeability of magnetic cores acts as a vital factor in electromagnetic interference (EMI) filtering choke design and optimization. Many efforts have been reported for toroid cores, but fewer target those with other shapes, such as EE, EI, UU, and UI cores. Owing to their commonly used in planar EMI filters, determining the complex permeability of them is of significance. Targeting EE cores, this paper presents a flexible printed circuit board (PCB)-based fixture adapter tailored designed for performing the measurement, while the corresponding core permeability can be calculated through magnetic flux path length analysis. The experiments validate the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed methods, spanning a wide frequency range up to 120 MHz. ©2024 IEEE.

Students behavior in the classroom has a close relation with the academic performance of students. With the widespread use of mobile phones, the students are easily distracted by mobile phones during the class. Therefore, analyzing the students behavior in the classroom becomes important to improve the quality of teaching. However, the existing methods for analyzing students behavior in the classroom, such as facial recognition, has low efficiency with large amounts of irrelevant data. And it also raises concerns about privacy and ethical issues. To solve this problem, in this paper, a novel mobile software called EasyClass has been developed to collect and quantify students behaviors. Based on the data collected by EasyClass, we propose to utilize user profiling to study students behavior in the classroom. The clustering algorithm is firstly employed to classify the data and generate semantically tags which describe students behavior in the classroom. Then a sequence and association rule analysis method is used to analyze the behavior tags and generated association rules. The results enable educators and non-expert users to gain a deeper understanding of students behavior in the classroom, and further improve the quality of the classroom teaching. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper addresses a significant challenge within the realm of fixed wing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), namely obstacle avoidance of the Leader-Follower system. The proposed approach involves formulating the Leader-Follower problem, consisting of one leader and three followers, with control strategies utilizing the logarithm exponential Quaternion method. Subsequently, the designed control law employing quaternions is applied to both the leader and the follower UAVs. Moreover, a notable contribution of this research lies in the incorporation of adaptive obstacle avoidance. The idea based on potential field as obstacle avoidance algorithm, with adaptive techniques for determining obstacle avoidance parameters. These parameters are dynamically adjusted based on the distance between the UAV and the obstacle through a non-linear adaptation function. The comprehensive implementation of these methods is rigorously evaluated by employing a predefined reference path for the leader and conducting numerous scenario-based tests. Random directions of followers were used in case of stuck in local minimum to avoid it; this was applied in case when potential filed force is less than small value. Experiments to test some scenarios of obstacle avoidance were conducted. The final results conclusively demonstrate the stability of the control law even in the presence of obstacles. The effectiveness of the adaptive obstacle avoidance approach is clearly evident from the trajectories of the UAV followers.

In this note, we present the synthesis of secure-by-construction controllers that address safety and security properties simultaneously in cyber-physical systems. Our focus is on studying a specific security property called opacity, which characterizes the system's ability to maintain plausible deniability of its secret behavior in the presence of an intruder. These controllers are synthesized based on a concept of so-called (augmented) control barrier functions. We propose conditions that facilitate the construction of the desired (augmented) control barrier functions and their corresponding secure-by-construction controllers. To compute these functions, we propose an iterative scheme that leverages iterative sum-of-square programming techniques. This approach enables efficient computation of these functions, particularly for polynomial systems. Finally, we validate the effectiveness of our results through a case study of a vehicle. © 1963-2012 IEEE.
