Accurate and effective parameter identification is an important engineering task in high performance control system design. One emerging approach to effectively identify such nonlinear or dynamic unknown parameters is to use Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm. Linear Permanent Magnet (LPM) motor is a high performance actuator employed in many applications that require direct linear motion without mechanical transmission for high acceleration and accurate positioning. Therefore, accurate motor parameters are necessary to effectively control the LPM motors. This paper proposes a simple PSO based method with chirp inputs to identify the LPM motor's parameters. The simulations and experiments are conducted to verify the results and determine the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Many brain events and disorders can be detected by analyzing electroencephalograms (EEGs). Also the availability of quantitative biological markers that are correlated with qualitative psychiatric phenotypes helps us to utilize automated methods to diagnose and classify these phenotypes. One such a psychiatric phenotype is alcoholism. In this study a method to select an optimal subset of EEG channels for the purpose of practical classification of alcohol abusers from normal subjects is proposed, which is based on combination of model-based spectral analysis and correlation matrices. The EEG signals were recorded when the subjects were represented with single trial visual stimuli. The proposed method proved successful in selecting an optimum number of channels which achieved acceptable average classification accuracy.

A diagnostic scheme for actuator faults which can occur on a robot manipulator using a model-based Fault Diagnosis (FD) technique is addressed. With the proposed FD scheme it is possible to detect a fault, which can occur on a specific component of the system. To detect actuator faults, higher order sliding mode Unknown Input Observers (UIO) are proposed to make analytical redundancy. The observers input laws are designed according to the so-called Super-Twisting Second Order Sliding Mode control (SOSMC) approach and they are proved to be capable of guaranteeing the exponential convergence of the fault estimate to the actual fault signal. The proposed approach is verified in simulation and experimentally on a COMAU SMART3-S2 robot manipulator.

The integration of renewable energy generation, such as wind power, into the electric grid is difficult because of the source intermittency and the large distance between generation sites and users. This difficulty can be overcome through a transmission network with large-scale storage that not only transports power, but also mitigates against fluctuations in generation and supply. We formulate an optimal power flow problem with storage as a finite-horizon optimal control problem. We prove, for the special case with a single generator and a single load, that the optimal generation schedule will cross the time-varying demand profile at most once, from above. This means that the optimal policy will generate more than demand initially in order to charge up the battery, and then generate less than the demand and use the battery to supplement generation in final stages. This is a consequence of the fact that the marginal storage cost-to-go decreases in time.

In this paper, we present an overall study focused on the modeling, identification and control of the Pierburg mechatronic actuator. This actuator is used in the BMW M57 diesel engine to control all the air which are charged and entered in the vehicle engine. The obtained model from the identification procedure is sufficiently closer to the practical actuator behavior and captures most of its characteristics. This mechatronic actuator is subject of parameter variation during its life span. A nonlinear control based on the Interconnection and Damping Assignment Passivity-Base control (IDA-PBC) is designed in order to ensure the desired performances. Simulation results show the efficiency of both the obtained model and the control strategy.

According to the current key management scheme exist large computation, trusted centre and key update cycle size is difficult to determine problems, we proposed a scheme that is based on ECC fully self-organization Ad hoc key management in this paper. The scheme use ECC instead of RSA for large computation; in order to solve trusted centre, we use fully self-organization; by using a double key update to overcome the regular updating cycle size problem. Computational cost of this program has a small computation safe, reliability and good scalability for large-scale Ad hoc network.

We consider the problem of controlling marginally stable linear systems using bounded control inputs for networked control settings in which the communication channel between the remote controller and the system is unreliable. We assume that the states are perfectly observed, but the control inputs are transmitted over a noisy communication channel. Under mild hypotheses on the noise introduced by the control communication channel and large enough control authority, we construct a control policy that renders the state of the closed-loop system mean-square bounded.
